Aria's future is dependent on texture, sound, wind, sun exposure... The same goes for Yoko! They are a pair! :-) Grass mats seem to be a favorite lately Ohhh and also pinatas I put their cages with prizes in them :-)
I put a new pinata in their cage a week with maybe timothy hey or puzzle pieces take a guess? its all about the surprise. Maybe Nuts or Toast with Peanut Butter? or Cranberries?
Thank you for sharing this video. I understand how Aria not having sight hurts you so much. Aria doesn't appear to be suffering from it. As you have stated, she was relieved to be free from pain and paid meds. I pray that Yoko is not in too much pain until her surgery. I send all of y'all my love and hugs!
No. She only had 20% vision that was fading fast. the pain was intense. She shook her head continuously from the pain. That's all gone!... including the drugs!
NO Morphine for over a year. her second eye collapsed and had to be removed. She was already blind in it so she showed clear relief when it was removed.
Trust me she still has a personality and freely expresses it every day! We love waiting on Aria and Yoko, with every stimulating texture, food, and environment that is healthy for them.
They really seem to take alot of pride in each other. Maybe they both understand what the other is going through, since they both didnt get such a great start in life. Thank you for giving them the chance to be stronger.
i am so glad that they are finally happy and free from as much pain as possible aria and yoko are so lucky to have you in there lives to give them all the love, care and attention they so rightly deserve after all they have been through. i would love to see how they are getting on now and how much happier they are. loads of love to aria and yoko from the UK.
Actually I'm not looking forward to going through it again with Yoko. I try to look to the future but Yoko is a lot younger and has to have eye surgery also in the very near future, that at this moment is controlled by lack of funding more than anything at the moment.
Hi I've only just caught up with whats been going on for Aria and Yoko ( i've subscribed now!) I cant believe the difference you have made to these birdies lives! You should feel very proud - Aria and Yoko have found the love they deserve, and the music in the video says it all...they were very lucky the day they came to you. How anybody can mistreat these magnificent birds is beyond me! Keep up the fabulous work - shame im so far away ( in the UK) cos I'd like to give you a hug!
Catherine, it just occured to me that if you click on my name, and then click on my first subscription (thisbirdsabsurd)you can watch a short video from a friend of mine in California whose African Grey is totally blind. His name is Maynard, and he's been with her probably a year now, and is also doing really good. You would never know he's blind by watching the video. (He has cataracts, and the person she got him from neglected to tell her.)
I've watched all of Aria and Yoko's videos several times in the past few days, and it's taken me a while to even be able to post, I'm so upset about what happened to them before they came to you. Thank you so much for taking such good care of them. They deserve it, that's for sure.
OMG. Your videos always make me cry, sometimes with sadness, sometimes with happiness. This video is definitely with happiness. I can't believe what a change from their first videos. How happy they are. I am beaming with pride over them just watching this, I can't imagine just how proud you must feel! Kudos to you all. You all are amazing *wells up again* x x x
Hi, Am so happy to see that they are finally getting to enjoy a lot of love & a safe home. I still cry when I watch the early videos but you have done such a wonderful job with them. This one & the one about Bo just breaks my heart. God bless you for not giving up on these babies. I know a lot of people would have just put them down. My prayers are with people like you, Irena & Sunny & all the people who do such a wonderful job in saving birdles.
so glad to see this video.I have been following them since the beginning. Tell them someone in Savannah,Ga. loves them and all that you have done for them.
I'm soooo glad you exist people!!! I've been following their story since the beginig and I'm really proud of you and the job you are doing!!! You have definitely made a lifetime impression to me! ;)
God Bless them... it has been a long road. Good to see them enjoying the breeze and LIFE. Warm wishes to you and your flock from me and mine. The world needs more people like you... it really does. Take Care!
YEA Aria and Yoko! It's so good to see you and know that you are doing well. Cricket sends her love and is glad to see all the feathers on both of you!
It does the heart good to see them doing so good. We miss seeing them each week. I can tell they are getting better and seem to be happy. Give them our love.
awwe. im so glad to see they are doing well. that was so presious when the aria grooming yoko. the laughing is adroable..and if they wernt happy they wouldnt be doing it. so oviosly they are doing much better and happy with you all. thats so good..glad to see them doing well. lil souls need so much love and affection, and attention,i cant understand and ever will why people do what they do to these poor lil creaters that didnt ask for any of it. breaks my heart.
I'm glad to see them doing so well. Question: I thought when they first came to you, Aria and Yoko had to be kept separate because Aria's illness was potentially contagious to other birds. Has that issue been resolved with her surgery?
Answer Well they both came together and had the same problems with their eyes etc. What was wrong with one was also wrong with the other. Thats why we were very cautious.
After blood work panels that didn't come up with anything, we could only figure it was the neglect and filthy environment.
So they will only be able to be with one another for life due to their high maintenance of health. They shouldn't get worse at this point, but the damage was irreversible, unfortunately for them.
Her beak broke off from a calcium deficiency, it has fully grown back now. Her nostril grew shut due to a vitamin deficiency. Dr. Burkett was able to open it this past month for the first time. So she is feeling better than she has in a Looooooooong time. :-)
but r they ok

Yes... Aria asks for attention every day. As soon as she hears us come home she starts vocally. She sings or squawks depending what mood she is in.
I am trying to winterize the aviary this year for winter also for all our birds. Then they can come outside even in the winter!
