  • I think you forgot Victor Wooten.

  • God give us Butron back...

  • Billy Sheehan where the Fuck is Billy Sheehan

  • David Ellefson doesn't make the list but Cliff Burton does? Hax!!! I call Hax!!!

  • which is the led zeppelin song ?

  • @MazzeoLucho immigrant song

  • 3 - Les Claypool 2 - Lemmy 1 - Cliff Burton!

  • @GES108 Jason Newsted, he should be up there too.

  • 3-Robert Trujillio 2- Geddy Lee 1- Cliff Burton***

  • the only one on this list i agree with is steve harris and possibly entwistle.

  • i love how you didn't put the version of for whom the bell tolls with cliffs best bass solo

  • Jaco Pastorius?

    oh man...

  • What about James Newsted huh?? He plays like cliff maybe better!!!

  • @Lomprouser Cliff Oroin solo call of khtulu solo whom the bell tolls intro plus inprovisions.e.g amnesia

Jason newsted has got my friend of misery intro thats the only thing that i find impressive his improve's where meh seen them a thousand times plus but he didn't really stand his ground in the mix seeing as most of his bass will get drowned out.

He was just a moderate to good bass player cliff is a good to amazing. Try to avoid being a hipster on this.

  • Sorry man, I think you need to expand your horizons beyond where they are at now. No offense to the bassists listed, because they are great players... But having a "greatest bassist of all time" list without Victor Wooten, Jaco Pastorius, Stu Hamm, James Jameson, Stanley Clark, Marcus Miller, Jeff Berlin, Larry Graham, and Bootsy Collins is almost a crime. Ok, so maybe in all fairness you should have a top 20 bassists of all time list, and I think you could cover the most influential.

  • @bskok82 victor wooten is the guy !!!!

  • were is pastorius

  • i couldnt agree more with your number one, Cliff is the man but i think Paul McCartney should have been 3 or 4

  • i believe that les claypool is THE best on here. hes got a fucking 10 million dollar bass that noone can play better than him. hes wayyyyy too good and if everyone knew this, they would also know that les claypool was rejected by metallica when he auditioned because they said he was wayyyyyyyy too good.

  • finally someone got it right... and posted

  • sorry to say but John Entwistle is better than everybody on the list. the top four should be: 4. john paul jones 3.Geddy Lee 2. geezer butler 1. John Entwistle

  • paul gray where ?

  • @slipknotchinjung Paul Gray I'm sorry to say was a useless bassist. Not one of the best of all time by a long stretch

  • Iss all about Christopher Wolstenholme best bass I knowww...

  • cliff burten can suck my dirty white ball he is a fucking fag ps me and my freind mr led pipe will pay you a viset you nazi cunt

  • fuck you lemmy number 1 and geezer butler sould at least be 3

  • Ok i am a big Metallica fan...but sorry brother Cliff is no way better that John Entwistle!! (I dont really care about the rest)

    Proof: watch?v=TVl39LBZGMw

  • Haha. I like how during the one for John Paul Jones, there isn't even any bass being played in the song!

  • Never mind, these 10 awesome Bassist would have still chosen Jaco as thier favorite. Ha.ha.

  • paul mccartney should be 1 gay list

  • Cliff Burton? really?

  • Best one is Flea!

  • not the worst list but most certainly not the best, idk y it bothers me so much when a bassist uses such a trebley distorted tone such ass cliff burton. its bass! lets get some beef man! none the less all great musicians. james jamerson and victor wooten all the way!fleas the best performer of all bassist tho, in my opinion=)

  • @BoogieEffect cliff uses the distortion pedal...

  • @gofuckloser lol evidently i know that=) "trebly distorted tone such as cliff burton" my point is that effect espichally when in an ensemble takes away the element of low frequency notes which in my opinion is non sense. it sounds cool for soloing tho ill say that but with a grove you gotta have that low end bunch, let the guitarist do their job yano. all a matter of opinion and now my babbling ends. good day!

  • And Reginald Arvizu? you're a motha facka

  • BOOTSY from funkadelic, larry graham king of bass

  • Les Claypol, Flea and Cliff Burton Should be 1, 2 and 3, not in that order of course, compare this 3 is like asking wich is the best assault rifle, there is not an absolute best

  • billy sheehan....... that is all

  • Alex webster?

  • @jobforapanda yea that guy has fucking skill, Cliff is still my favorite though

  • @TheFurryMetallicaFan Yeah Cliff was amazing died to young:( But my favorite is Alex :D

  • @jobforapanda Hammer smashed face FTW :P

  • @TheFurryMetallicaFan Yeah that bass solo is a beast:) New album has a song named The Strangulation Chair Bad ass basline in that one:)

  • @jobforapanda i'll look that up right now :P

  • @TheFurryMetallicaFan if you can find it i got the cd prebooked:) got it 2 days a go its totaly brutal :)

  • @jobforapanda lol i sent that to my self twice wtf lol

  • @jobforapanda lol i actually cant find it, it must not be uploaded yet :| oh well, i'll look later :P

  • @TheFurryMetallicaFan i dont think my parents would let me buy it and the closest store we have is walmart lol, i dont think they will have CC there :V

  • @TheFurryMetallicaFan oops sent that to my self :P

  • @TheFurryMetallicaFan /watch?v=NSqshURyPgE Here i found one:)

  • @jobforapanda cool, thats brutal lol

  • @TheFurryMetallicaFan Indeed 2:14 is amazing:)

  • @jobforapanda yea i was like O_O lol

  • @TheFurryMetallicaFan Yeah me too :)

  • JUSTIN 'FUCKING' CHANCELLOR? ANYBODY?

  • No.

  • in my opinion this list is not absolutely best - only in rock steady maybe... As seen in comments and as heared in YT - coll basser-man is VW :)

  • Whats the song that geezer butler played in this video.

  • @THEKRAZYKITTEN97 N.I.B. from their s/t

  • what about tim commerford? he is a great bassist!

  • Flea Fly

  • matt freeman - rancid!

  • Stanley Clarke?

  • Like if you don't think flea should be in the Fourth position, he sould be in the first position FLEA THE BEST BASSIST EVER.

  • lol so many very important bass players are missing. BIG FAIL!!!

  • All of those bass players don't really have anything special as a bass players in them. They are good musicians or composers, but nothing special as bass players.

  • HIS TOP TEN BASSISTS!........

  • Cliff burtion is REALLY over rated. I only think hes labeled as one of the best is because he used distortion...but hes still great.

My favorite is Les Claypool >:]

  • Cliff Burton \m/

  • paul gray ??

  • Rob ??

  • My fav is John Entwistle. And not just because we have the same birthdate (not same year though)

  • Where is Matt Freeman in this mix?..haha

  • wheres Stu Hamm..Bob bogle ..david hungate

  • Wtf ?! I wait 3minutes for Cliff Burton ? where is victor wooten and Marcus miller ? fuck it

  • Bitch please, Les Claypool #1

  • i think he's right about where cliff burton is #1

  • I have an idea for you. Change the title of the video to "My top 10 favourite bassists". You'll get a lot less rage from randoms and people are more likely to respect your choices.

I do however support your choice of having Les over Flea.

  • i was feeling pretty good about your #3 and #2. then i got to 1 and I'm like "fuck it"

  • and paul gray ?¿?¿

  • Chris Square (Yes) Then Cliff, Then JPJones.

    :)

  • wtf is pual gray r.i.p

  • It's a metal bassist list.

What does Paul McCartney do here? He fits better into an easy listening-pop bassist list, and there he must be in Top 3 with Alan Jones (Shadows/Tom Jones)

I would prefer progressive/fusion bassists with Chris Squire and Pekka Pohjola on absolute Top!!!

  • where the fuck are Marcus Miller and Victor Wooten???

  • WTF wheres Duff McKagan?

    this is fucked up

  • Haven't heard of Duff Mckagen then?

  • Where's Myung ?

  • people always go into a rage while watching these kinds of video's because people don't put in the best players, READ first sentence description ''MY FAVORITE BASSIST'' get it? Self preference....god >.< if you don't agree with lists like these go make one yourself

  • @Gimliownz Entwistle is amazing to ^^

  • I see only 3 good bassists in your list: Cliff Burton, Steve Harris and John Paul Jones. And where is Joey Demaio???

  • where da hell is david ellefson of megadeth

  • where victor wooten and jaco and all those guys? they'd smoke all these bass players

  • This video reeks of the uploader knowing nothing about bass guitar and merely going by popular preference. The fact that Cliff Burton ranks 1st and John Entwistle is only ranked 5th is a travesty.

And since when has Paul Mcartney ever been considered an upper echelon bass player? He's done nothing to push the envelope or make the bass anything other than an afterthought in any of his music.

  • Looking at comments

    Hears Come together

    Scrolls up, see's Paul McCartney

    Leaves comment

    Leaves.

  • Jaco Pastorius? Abraham Laboriel? Victor Wooten? Marcus Miller? John Patitucci? Anthony Jackson? Javier Malosetti? Take a look...

  • And Victor wooten??? O.o

  • rubbish list!

  • Y JACO???????????

  • No Jaco, No Jamerson. Obviously an amateurs list !

  • Geddy Lee (of Rush) all the way. He's got it all: complex basslines, song-writing talent, great coordination with bandmate & world #1 drummer Neil Peart. Oh, and while he's playing the bass, he also sings, plays keyboard, and plays pedals (synth, Taurus bass and sample pedals).

  • paul mccartney??? jaco is better!!!

  • trujilo?

  • why paul mccartney? he's one of the most amazing songwritter ever, but not an amazing bassist

  • #3 I am spart rocker? 0:50

  • GENE SIMMONS?!?!:D

  • Flea, Jaco, Billy Sheehan, Jason Newsted, Cliff Burton, Fieldy, Duff McKagan, Bootsy Collins, John Entwistle, Paul McCartney

    (not in order)

  • Hmmm Les Claypool should be number one. No question.

  • @FlipSideHC: Yeah, right. Over Geddy Lee's dead body.

  • your fuckin kiddin

  • James Jamerson??? :D

  • Theres only "rock" bassist...

  • Alex James from Blur!?

  • Victor Wooten?

  • Billy Sheehan

  • Tom Araya From Slayer

  • why isnt Dave Ellefson on here??

  • Many right choices, but Justin Chancellor is missing and I don't agree with the #1. Claypool is way better (and I don't even like Primus)

  • Jaco Pastorius? Marcus Miller? Mark King? Patitucci?

  • 1.Cliff Burton 2.Robert Trujillo 3.Marucs Miller 4.Flea 5.Jaco Pastorius 6.Rex Brown 7.Victor Wooten 8.Justin Chancellor 9.Lemmy 10.Duff McKagan
  • @rafaljekot Marcus*

  • You must be a Metallica's fan... Entwistle is the best .-.

  • Where is Mark King(Alice in Chains)! Try listen to Would!! The Best bas's perf. Mark King RIP ...

  • Where the fuck is billy sheen

  • cliff is in the top 3 but idk if hes number one. Ever heard of Victor Wooten? NO! then check him out. Way better than cliff.

  • Go listen to Jefferson Airplane "Bless It's Pointed Head" and first Hot Tuna albums. Then put Jack Casady up at the top of your list where he belongs.

  • @pbgvdad what song

  • I think you just show your favourite bands...

  • You will never come up with a list that everyone agrees with....... this is a list of HIS favourite Bassists, so stop arguing and PLAY YOUR FUCKING BASS

  • Rob tru?

  • soy fan de metallica pero cliff es el segundo mejor el mejor es jaco pastorious

  • To all of you that are complaining and adding your own people on this list, does it fucking look like he listens to fucking Jaco Pastorius judging from his list? Stop being a bitch and make your video list.

  • 1 Cliff Burton? :D klaşdklşaklşklşaskdşaksdş .. get the fuck out of here man.

    Where's Jaco Pastorius?

  • WHERE IS JOEY DI MAIO... YOU ARE A VINTAGE DICK SUCKER MOTHER FUCKER...!!!

HARRYS IS OK FLEA IS OK CLAYPOL IS OK THE REST OF THEM ARE BULL SHIT!!!

  • @ariel666p Man ...I think that Joey should be there, too but saying that Lemmy is bullshit, or Geezer Butler ? Have you lost your mind ?

  • whats is te name of the song of the part of flea

  • Billy Sheehan Oo !!

  • Where is Mark king?

  • Where The Bloody Hell is Phil Lynott (Thin Lizzy),

John Deacon (Queen) and Suzi Quatro??!!!!!

  • Well, seeing as it's his video and his favorite bassists; Lemmy, Jaco, Victor Wooten, Alex Webster, and CLiff Burton aren't on the list.

  • metallica?????????

  • lemmyyyyyy???????????

  • Um Where is Alex Webster?

  • I BEG TO DIFFER TOP 10 ALL TIME GREATEST BASIST 1.Geddy Lee (Rush) 2.John Entwistle (The Who) 3.Ben Shepherd (Soundgarden) 4.Flea (RHCP) 5.Les Claypool (Primus) 6.Cliff Burton (Metallica) 7.Roger Waters (Pink Floyd) 8.Maynard Lewis (Tool, A Perfect Circle) 9.Jason Newstaed (Voivod, Flotsam & Jetsam, Metallica, Echobrain) 10.P-Nut (311)
  • and stanly clark , Jaco pastorius, mislav vitus, marcus miller vudy wouten ?

    before writhe "cagate" thinking

  • sting?

  • cliff burton is certainly one hell of a bassist, but entwhistle is deff the best

  • the only good bassist on this list were

    cliff burton

    john paul jones

    lemmy

    geezer butler

    and steve harris

  • Jaco Pastorius revolutionized the electric bass. If you don't know who he is, then you're ignorant.

  • Where Bootsy Collins?

  • I think no matter what, lists like this will always be biased based on who compiles them. Like for me you left out quite a few great bassists like Jaco and Victor Wooten and then you included some who I dont think really were deserving of this list like Paul McCartney and certainly Cliff Burton. I know cliff was very talented and started to set the stage for metal bass, but he died too soon to ever really become a top 10 bassist

  • Where is Jaco??

  • @WeBeJ4mmin And Wooten?

  • flea must be 1#

  • Fieldy from KoЯn ? :D

  • No Billy or Myung?

  • This list makes sense if you add Rock bassists in the title. Victor Wooten is a jazz player, like Marcus Miller or Alain Carron. You cannot compare these two groups of bassists but just add ROCK/METAL bassists.

  • @PierreAnkh even in metal you have Sean Malone of Cynic, Steve Digiorgio of Sadus and Death, Roger ¨Patterson (RIP) and Tony Choy of Atheist, Jeroen Paul Thesseling and sooo many other that overcome many musicians of this list, I believe.

  • Wooten & Lee are lightyears beyond Burton, and with Metallica being the Rush fans they are, Burton would've been the first to admit that.

  • Alex Webster?

  • victor wooten ? billy sheehan?

  • NO Billy Sheehan!!!

  • Glenn Hughes

  • FLEA should be number 1!!!

  • claypool only 3?

  • Where's Robert & Jason?

  • wheres Duff?

  • John Entwistle, Geddy Lee and Steve Harris should all be on first position...

  • Dee Dee?

  • McCartney ??? hahahahahahahahahaha bith please

  • Why is Flea only number four??? ... ehm Number 1.

  • # 9 should be #1!!!!!!!!! u crazy??

  • NOW WHERE IS JAMES JAMERSON ?
