I've been a uge fan of prog rock for years, but am, just starting to get reallty into it now, what are some good bands you might reccomend, im already a fan of PF Rush, Yes Jethro Tull ELP & King Crimson but am looking to expand!
I feel a real kind of sadness when I see these things they bring reminder of to me a simpler time with less worries and brilliant music. Not all this era s music was good certainly not what the radio played. Ha nothing much changed eh? I miss the fact that almost no one builds an album today. Only Ayreon that I know of, Recommend The Electric Castle if you haven't heard it.
Ok, this is "your" list ... maybe you should re-title it to reflect that. You're entitled to your opinion, but you list 5-6 VDGG songs, 5-6 Crimson, 5-6 Genesis and 4-5 Supertramp. That's roughly 20 (40%) out of 50 songs by just 4 bands. Just sayin'
Hey, if you are a big prog fan do a search on Youtube for 'As It Is' by Patrick Gabriel Doyle - it's new music but in that classic prog idiom - it's in 6 parts on youtube and of course takes a few listens to get into it, man :-)
Atom Heart Mother!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY.... Anyway, you have some really good bands on here, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Jethro Tull etc. but you still miss one! Manfred Mann's Earth Band, the most underrated Prog Rock band EVER. Search for the songs Solar Fire, Darkness in the Beginning, Earth Hymn and Spirit in the Night. Their best songs that Prog Rock fans will like, maybe you think it is too poppy, I don't know, just search for em :)
i would like to see in this video the year that everyone of these songs was released...anyway,despite that,it's a very good list of prog rock songs, nice job mate...
yes, your right...I don't like ELP very much and this list is my own opinion, but some songs of them should be in this list. If I would make it now, I would take Karn Evil 9/1 in it and maybe Tarkus too.

Totally with you on the first Alan Parson's lp. The entire thing is a masterepiece.
Same with Songs of Scheherazade. Love the whole lp
Epitath is the best song on that lp too. And that says a lot.
that's a good 25.

A prog list without ELP is not a prog list man...can you make a classical music list without Beethoven?...............

@Elveeye lol, those two songs are the best in their discography...but don't forget the endless enigma and brain salad surgery...
