well, if you can think of an easier way to build pedals...
no, it's an absinthe bottle filled with water. i just keep it around to keep my sponge wet for wiping the soldering iron and at that point i was turning it. might give it a shot though!
that's originally what i wanted to do, but decided to keep it more general looking than a tutorial. it would take a couple of hours of full watching to do i think.
in the mean time check out the links and comments mentioned, there's heaps of reading to do on the net. there's also lots of different ways people go about it. i for example use a laser, which is outside of how people would normally build a pedal.
could you make a video where you explain everything you do, for absolute beginners like me who are interested in making their own pedals (clone of original) ?
reading stuff like Aron's DIY stop box forum can give you heaps of ideas later. when you find out about why people modify pedals and what the effect is you can understand what's going on a bit better and make your own changes.
jump into it. if you get stuck email me: thornbury @ gmail . com
@sirpaisley i suppose my best advice is to find your weaknesses and make them your strengths, just like learning a new difficult song. for example, i always hated drilling enclosures and it made me nervous getting the alignment perfect - so i built a jig. now it is the easiest task ever. you could make a jig with 1,2,3 and 4 knob patterns.
hey. not sure what you mean by solder mask? usually means the film to stop the solder going where it's not meant to. i used to do that but it's a lot of effort for no gain.
do you mean the circuit board protector? i don't use a spray. after brushing back the copper i tin the board right away with a suspended tinning solution (like from farnell). it oxidises much slower than copper and makes for some nice solder joints.
wish i could make more of a tutorial than demo, but with ten minutes i think people still got bored. i suppose if you watch it in 1080p frame by frame there might be some ideas.
i've never been one for the third hand... i just burn my fingers a lot haha.
@DarronThornbury My fingers still get burned even with the third hand :D but this evening i will try to use your technuique with TWO hands ;) (I will modify my Dod250 Clone to get it more "creamier" :D)
I would really love to see an tutorial from you, subscribed to you ;)
Was that you doing a shot of Vodka at 3:45? Haha

@sirpaisley
hey there. do you mean designing your own pedals or just building your own pedal clones for your own use?
in both cases i can probably give you a heap of cool links to follow through reading that i've found to help out
let me know :)
