Hell Bruce, the guy had a hi-vis, clip board AND an incessantly clicking bloody pen!!! Control freak alert!! You guys were never gonna fit in, hellllloooooo.... :p
The guy in the fluorescent bib reminds me of Murray from Flight of the Conchords. I'm surprised he wasn't checking who was present at the meeting - including himself :-)
ironic how there are more rules at a proper model airfield than at an actual airfield! All these bloody rules are sucking what was left of the excitement out of the hobby, you can't do this, you can't fly there, you need some old bloke to say yes you can fly, and give you a certificate, just to fly at a club, what the hell is the point anymore?
@vanepico There IS an actual airfield next to the Taupo flying site (gliding club infact) which imposes extra rules as its within 4km of an airfield. I'm not a fan of rules, however for the safety of all concerned, you need some. If you don't want to follow the rules then go else where. This was a club organised event, afiliated to the MFNZ which imposes certain responsibilities on the club. And yes, you need a certificate because it means you have reached a certain skill level.
@peldridg9 If you need a certificate, it isn't really a hobby anymore, it's just like saying you need a license. Yeah I agree safety and all that but when rules start taking the fun out of it, its boring, we in the UK aren't 'legally' allowed to fly FPV without having someone buddy leading, even tho if your kit is properly checked, there is no more risk of losing video than losing control. Ever since nicad days i dreamt of being able to fly a plane via a camera, fat chance.....
Hey Bruce where abouts do they fly in Taupo? Have been there a few times but not sure where they would fly on a Sunday! Have to visit tokoroa sometime soon too
Bruce, you are entitled to your opinion but it was a good two days of what you call "sissy" flying with "old planes" (some were, some were quite young). In fact my electric glider is very modern ;o)
@peldridg9 Don't worry - it's a piss-take. Come to the SWMAC and see how we fly there, you'll understand. We all had a good time and there were lots of nice people there but everything was just a little laid back for us -- we're used to a lot more action and excitement when we fly (not that that is always a good thing) :-)
You boys made this a great video ;-) why the slow take offs hang on why fly so slow full stop ;-) still we will get to see some real action when you next upload a video with the xjets boys and girls flying ;-) thanks for sharing.
Thanx for entertaining me again for 20 minutes! Its always a laugh! Keep it coming. And if you take requests,i would like to see some more pulsjet action! Thanx!

The best part of your videos is the comedy, I would watch them even if I didn't like rc planes.

@hads1111 It's in the middle of Centenial Park -- take gate #7 into the motor-racing area and it's in the middle of the horse-track.

I’m sure your SWMAC instructor would love to tell you what a “circuit” is. You just need to ask. Don’t be shy now.
