supercharging in my book is better anyway. You get a streamlined increase in hp and torque vs a turbo with a lag then a huge swoop in power. Not to mention i love the whine of a supercharger on a cobra over a turbo gt. In my opinion, i think mustangs are meant to be supercharged. But turbos are great for dragging. I donno. I can't believe a 1000 hp turbo gt isn't flying by a cobra. Probably needs gears. drop a 4.10 in it.

why would they want to compete with an uber high end car like the Corvette in this financial climate? Awnser: they dont!! The Mustang and the Corvette sell to completely different markets. A new Corvette goes for 50K thats the STARTING price people. The ZR1 is around 105K. Now the Mustang starts at around 21K. Spend the money on the base model Vette and you can get a Shelby GT500 Convertible. If I had 50K, I know which one I would get! Ford has alock on the market that the stang sells in.

Even though times are "rough" I'm just talking about common sense, not marketing, Ford could lighten the mustang gt a hell a lot. Just speaking from experience. Wheels are heavy, what about 28 lbs, spoiler heavy, trunk, backseat which is way not needed, drive shaft, all that crappy plastic on the intake, the windshield is way too wide, just needs more side view, the list goes on, this car could be faster and cheaper, not to argue though!

well i agree with you it could be faster and cheaper but really who is going to spend that kind of money on a stripped down car? not enough to justify making it would be my guess during certain model years Ford SVT made a Cobra called the R Model. This car was exactly what you wanted a stripped down lightweight Mustang built for racing. They are very rare, numbering in the hundreds and I beleive you had to show a racing liscense to get one but check em its all you trombone!

Yea, and it still was up to par with the ZR1, its kind of wierd cause the Corvette has always been a half step ahead more then the Mustang. Not much though! the corvette is more than half a step ahead of the mustang. its track time kills the mustang. and so does their drag times. n the corvette does around 200mph. you cant be very safe at that speed. but i never thought about it till now...i cant believe the corvette doesnt come with a rollcage. i know their all about looks n stuff but they could make it stylish. not reallly but they could try to hide it somehow.

Roll Cage? Other 200MPH+ cars that are alot quicker than a vette don't have roll cages, why would a vette need one? Plus, at 200MPH, a simple roll cage isn't going to help you.

Maybe, but don't just assume that just because he won the second race. The supercharged Termi has tthe advantage in a dig race because it gets boost as soon as the pedal is pushed vs the turbo having lag.

the "Terminator" Cobra (its an unofficial name) was not modified by Shelby. The Cobra Mustangs were done by the SVT (Special Vehicle Team) at Ford. These cars were only produced for two years (03-04) and have a factory supercharger. They are really fast, and very expensive compared to a normal Mustang of those years. Hope this helps!
