This is such a load of crap. Besides being completely fabricated, people don't realize but back then rarely did anyone actually say fuck like people do nowadays. It wasn't thrown around in casual conversation. Davis was definitely temperamental but always for professional reasons. I hate when biofilms take such outrageous liberties with real people just for the sake of dramatic effect. What really happened is always more interesting.
You see, maybe Bette got angry at Marilyn cause when Marilyn said that she saw her when "she was a kid", Bette maybe felt Marilyn was calling her old.
Out of all the Marilyn bio-pics this really is one of the worst. And as much as I like Mira, her portrayal, particulary the voice is more like a parody. I understand why on certain words (most notably talent) she uses that unusual inflection. But it's as though she is playing the character Lorelie Lee (from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes) instead of Marilyn where that inflection is noticed in Marilyn's performance.
She did whatever she could to be famous. And she knew that her body was her best weapon to achieve that goal. She associated getting molested when she was young to being loved.
With Norma Jean here, they're showing u how Marilyn wrestled with both personas. And Bette was this way. She was a DIVA to the hilt. And a d^%n good actress at that.
I think you guys are taking this movie a little TOO seriously. This movie is just showing you how these people were in real life. These actors just played everything UP to a higher degree. Marilyn DID WANT to be loved and she DID want to be famous so she could be loved.
Judgejuliet are you kidding?wtf!worst ever tripe EVER about Norma Jean ever!sorvino is the worst! And Ashley Judd played the younger Marilyn aka Norma Jeane..In my opinion she should have played both parts. This movie is ridiculous.. A farce. Crikey!
these stupid stupid people. potraying bette davis like this. and potraying marilyn like this. how do they find producers to make these stupid innacurate films? and shame on ashley judd!!! why is she in this???
Mira Sorvino is very believeable as the younger Marilyn Monroe -- has the voice, the look, the walk, the idealism, then the hurt vulnerability at the cruel putdowns. The actor playing George Sanders is a dead ringer. Ashley Judd very credible as whoever she plays . . . MM's acting coach? or the casting director.
lmao You tell her Bette. My favorite part is the bad Bette Davis impersonator. I think This movie would be tens times better if they just skipped the middle man and Hired Charles Pierce to play every part. Goodness this movie was awful. It's right up there with Mommie Dearest and The Jayne Mansfield Story. About the only thing factual about the whole thing was the name Marilyn Monroe.
@KURISUCHRIS99 That has to be true because even Vivien Leigh hated her, and she like Marilyn was a sweetheart. When Joan refused to play in Hush Hush Swwet Charlotte with Bette, the studios next pick was Vivien Leigh. Vivien stated, " I can get up in the morning and go to the studio to work with Joan Crawford, but NEVER Bette Davis."
@KURISUCHRIS99 Bette was a great actress of volatile emotions who scorpiolike EXPRESSED them. I can believe that she was bawdily rude to her co-actresses Celeste Holm and to Marilyn Monroe (potential Eves, rivals, usurpers of Bette's divadom) . . . if only to stay in character with her uptight paranoid character Margot Channing. And in a separate interview where an elderly Bette said there was NO personality identity between herself and MC, "Methinks the lady doth protest too much."
Bette did say this to Marilyn it was in her book. She later apologized on an interview to marilyn. Yes bette was a bitch, but she loved marilyn so much.
"Marilyn, she has been my only favorite actress since 12. I am now 36, and still am amazed how beautiful she was, and that no other actress will ever measure up to that type of beauty. It does not exist anymore." Always your fan Marilyn."
" that blond thing , couldn´t act her way out of a paperbag!" .... is said that bette said about marylin after shooting this scene... the evening bevore shooting this scene was a party, and everybody on the folloring day know their text, just marylin got the problems...
i´m not sure if it is true, but i like the story!!!
FACT: Bette Davis her self said in a 1987 interview that she adored Marilyn on the all about eve set, Bette said that she was a sweetheart and very stunning and thought she was a good actress for an up coming star. This move was made a decade after Bette Davis died, so you can tell if Bette was alive today she'd be pissed that they portayed her like this to Marilyn on this movie. I doubt that Bette said that.
@officialdavideli Let's face it. Bette Davis comes from a time where celebrities cared a lot about keeping a good reputation. She might have said that, but would never want people to know she did.
Did it happen or did it not happen....I wasn't there so I don't know. And I think it's a pointless discussion. Bette could be tough at times, that I do believe. But I do believe something that she did say, "I only gave 'it' to those who gave 'it' to me."
I cannot believe that Bette would treat a newcomer that way!
Bette Davis always had such admiration for up and coming stars and she was such a benevolent person; I read that she would actually help the actors with their lines and give them acting tips.
If Bette knew that they had someone do this ill of a portray she'd turn over in her grave!
I swear all copies of this ought to be destroyed and never be seen by the public eye again and that includes this video being deleted from YouTube!
I dont think this dialogue ever happened on the set of All about Eve.Ive seen some late interviews with Bette Davis and she was praising Monroe and her talent quite substantially. And Bette might have been arrogant but certainly not behaving like a bitch towards her co-stars.I picture her more like Katharine Hepburn in her early career.
She was not really arrogant, she was honest. She was an revolutionary woman because she was powerful and outspoken, unlike many others actress in those times.
Marilyn herself was actually pretty brave too, she even dared to change some lines etc.
@jozefcupa Bette Davis was a DIVA. And a very tough cookie that's part of what made her a fabulous actress. You never heard of the feud she had with Joan Crawford?
Are you for real? I hope your'e not going by how Bette has been depicted in this clip! B.D is a truly horrid, ungratefull, spoilt & hideous human being whilst bette was witty, amusing, wise and beautifull....Your dellusional!
What movie is this? I saw that movie Blonde about marilyn Monroe, and I thought that Poppy whatever really didn't do that good of a job, so I really want to see if Mira might have done a better one.
Problem is both Bette Davis and Marilyn Monroe are, in their own ways, such acting icons it's hard not to treat them as caricatures known for this or that exaggerated quality -- Monroe's skittishness on a movie set; Davis's alleged bad temper
I don't know who that lady is but she doesn't really sound like Bette here! Mira does a great job and it is probably exactly what Bette would have said. But Bette was awesome none the less!
Is that Mira Sorvino? She does a perfect impression of Marilyn, at least as far as her voice goes!
And this exchange between Marilyn and Bette never took place... Otherwise we would have heard it from Celeste Holm, who was always more than willing to put Bette in a bad light.

Heres A Question For You: How Did I Say Anything Bad About These So Called Legends?
OH and this is probably an honest portrayal of bette davis. She was a tough woman. She's quoted as saying"anyone who threatened my career was an enemy" when she was on larry king live, she said that she new marylin was more than a pretty face. Marylins young and bette was old, she probably was the rudest person on the earth to her...so what? That doesn't make bette davis any less of great actress. Does It?
ok does this skip parts of the movie? also as a huge marylin monroe fan this is hard to watch i mean blonde while fictional in parts never made it seem like marylin is dumb and bad and stuff i mean she wasnt dumb she read a lot thats what aurthor miller thought about her and she just acted dumb blonde to play the part and get films cause thats what she thought ppl wanted. but she took acting seriously going to classes and reading this is just awful and horribel the way they are t
The actress playing Bette is so goddamned ugly! I always thought Bette Davis was gorgeous, but that woman is damn near deformed. Why didn't they just go the whole way and use a drag queen?
this WHOLE FILM is an insult to these legendery actresses. ESPECIALLY MARILYN!!! poor women. i dont understand why anyone would have worke with such a dumb ass director. ever in my life havi seen so much shit been pulled out of someone ass!! its all to laughable to be anything else! this movie is all lies and shit from the begening!!
Such nonsense! I refuse to believe that Bette Davis would have done something like this. She was a professional, and never did the spoiled diva thing, according to everyone who knew her and saw her on sets firsthand.
I saw that comment you left a month ago on norma jean and marilyn. and you called marilyn stupid! i fucking dare you... marilyn was sensitive, shy, insecure, self concouse butifull an amazing women and for her to act the wasy she did is amazing. she was so shy but she put on a happy face when she never and did it. and i mean in film. she was a terrifc actress . the best there ever was and will be.

I DONT FUCKING THINK SO! long live marilyn. god bless that poor little women!!
thats the worst Bette Davis impression I ever saw! It looks like a drag queen playing the part and the voice is dire - quite a feat given how distinctive Davis' voice was. And as for Sorvion as Monroe - embarassingly bad.
And there's no evidence Davis ever said anything like that to Monroe...trashy exploitation of two icons for a sub-Dynasty audience...
Nancy Linehan Charles played "Miss Bette Davis" in the film. I think she played it really well. But I really wonder whether Miss Davis actually spoke so rudely to Miss Marilyn Monroe. If this actually happened in real life, then its really something for which Miss Davis should have apologized.
It always astounds me that writers seem to think that cuss words are viable, useful words of communication. Not only that, but the frequent use would denote, what, perhaps writers' block, lack of knowing what else to put down on paper? I don't think writing is as good as it once was at all.
ok this never happened but something like this did happen . marilyn did not know her lines because she had been to a party the night before but bette was quoted as saying after marilyn left the room as saying " that blond thing couldn't act her way out of a paper bag" that's what happened and it was and is true. the whole cast had been to the party and knew there lines.
i ve seen dozens of better Bette Davis drag queens and better looking closer sound of voice and mannerisms of bette, than the actor/actress playing her part here. I cant even tell the gender, but s/he shoulda play the part of the wicked bitch of the west instead.
This is such a load of crap. Besides being completely fabricated, people don't realize but back then rarely did anyone actually say fuck like people do nowadays.

I cant even tell the gender, but s/he shoulda play the part of the wicked bitch of the west instead.

the bette performer looks like a man... and the voice, no..... ugh, ugh, ugh.... nasty
