You have really good tone production! But, you tend to play flat when it comes to your second and third fingers, especially "D" on the A string. Just keep practicing scales and you can check if your "D" is in tune by playing it as a double stop with the open "D" string. Just practice that over and over. You are doing great otherwise. Keep it up!
@SuperLegoMinifigure He did play the whole thing. The version you played in orchestra was probably an elongated and garnished version of the original traditional tune, which is showcased in this video.
its good, but it didnt really look like you were playing it on the vid. Kinda laggy as if it was pieced togetha. but thats probably my computer. Awsome job
@TennisChamp59 since when i change strings, you still have your first finger on at the first part and near the end, i usually just rock my first finger back and forth to do that
How fast were u playing it at?? Because Im working on this song right now (on violin) and my teacher said my goal was 80 on the metronome but i've got a feeling that your playing tha much faster then 80.
hhahha. do give them props though. im a mandolin player and i bought a violin couple months back and it takes much more practice than most instruments
Coordentation between fingers and bow need some work. Slides are okay and speed is good. I'm sure you have a wonderful sound but the recording kinda ruined it a bit. KEEP WORKING at it. You will be amazing some day!
Don't worry. It's not easy for anyone to play fast. Yes practicing slowly is the best way. Learn the song slowly with a metronome, then when you're comfortable with it turn up the speed a little bit at a time. :)
a pizza hand is when you don't have your left hand straight. pizza hand is when you have it at a 90 degree angle instead of about a 180. if you have a pizza hand you cant shift.
I know where it can be found, I just wanted to know what book this particular version is from. I play a version from "Fiddlers Pharmonic." Its something like that. Its a little longer.
Hey! I love tennis too. I also play the violin! I'm in the symphonic at my school. Remember to keep your left hand back. No Pizza Hand! Sounds Great. Keep playing tennis and violin! Both are awesome!
ome can u send me the notes in like an easier form so i ca practice it cuz were suppose to do this for our concert and i need to learn ASAP!!! lol thxx
look it up on an internet search, if you look long enough you'll find it and be able to download and print it free. Practically anything traditional is freely available.
Yeah. I used to play the viola, but decided the violin better fit me : ) By the way, the violin is better. lol. But I mean the viola is a very important part in an orchestra. Take out the violas, and you have a really bad sounding orchestra with a sense that something is missing : )
I've been playing the violin for one year, but I also played the viola before the violin for one year. Since they are practically the same instrument, it's a combined total of two years : )
No slides, but yes Grace notes. Also were you wearing a Zipper jacket, cause I can here a slight buzzing sound. This is the main problem of it or theres something or something loose under the fine tuners. Note, not all clasical music is stiff. Try Symphony 25, by mozart xD
I really do like the slides though. lol. No I wasn't wearing a zipper jacket, I was wearing short sleeves. I didn't hear the buzzing sound. But it could have been one of the tuners or something b/c that's a brand new violin.
oh and by the way...keep up the slides and grace notes...it adds to the real feel of the tune "swallow tail" swooping flutering flying and quick.....thats irish tradition...not classical and stiff....good job
What do you mean "for trying?" What was wrong with it? It was all in tune and on beat. It's called a 'slide' that was added at the end. I'm not going to sit here and listen to someone that doesn't even fiddle.
man don't get so defensive it is only my opinion i am sory if i ofended u but it just wasn't really 2 my taste. okay sorry but would u rather i lie and say "oh that was wonderful i loved it" i am pretty sure u are an awsome fiddle player i just didn't like this piece the way u play it
Well then you could have just said 'it wasn't my taste' instead of 'it didn't sound too great.' I want you to tell me your opinon... that's fine... but you should have said you didn't like the way I played this song. That's all I'm saying.
well that is fine then. no hard feelings???? o and i am a musician myself and i apreciate any1 who is able 2 play an instrument. i play flute and just took up piano last september. just incase u might have thought i was some sort of idiot with no clue about music lol
Ok... glad to hear you play a musical instrument! And no... I never once thought you were an idiot. I don't know you, so I'm not going to judge you. Good luck with the flute and piano.
yeah music is kinda my passion lol i play like tin whistle and that but they r self taught and i am even worst at them than i am at piano. lol but i'll keep working lol thanks alot =) xx
It's okay, it kind of took me a while before I was good at this song. After you learn the tune, you can learn what is called the break. It's a little bit harder, but is played in unison with the tune. Good luck and keep practicing.
Yours is WAY better than mine...

why do violinists always criticize everyone
IamCommando1213 2 years ago
Violinists, like any other human, have a tendency to always want to be better than everyone else. I guess criticizing is just a way of showing power.

ur wrist is buckled... try bending it outward. that may help with the "syncing bowing with fingers" thing
DuctTapeGirl8 2 years ago
Your bowing isn't in sync with your fingers. Just practice it slowly and you can fix that.

do you know a good way to practice to make sure the fingers and bowing IS in time? Just play songs slowly first? I have the same problem :(
