I'm american chinese. My parents never told me anything even now that I'm in highschool. When I was in middle school, after I got my first period (they did tell me THAT), I had really high hormones and was really "frisky". But I was extremely confused and ended up accidentally breaking my hymen (NOT by having sex). Now that I'm much older, I really, REALLY regret that period of time and wish my parents told me more and wish school offered an actual sex ed class.

I agree, China is a conservative country regarding to sex in general, many parents don't normally like to talk about it, and they censored all the sex websites so people cannot access information there. So if one is a sort of goody goody kid, they will become really ignorant about sex. But in terms of abortion rate, I think the one child policy contributed a lot to it since some parents only want a son for example. Basic sex education is neccessary in China.

I got such a technical answer that I had to ask again, but I couldn't get the nerve to ask a second time until I was 9. I honestly didn't get a straight answer until I was 12... From a VHS porn tape I found hidden in the back of my dad's closet. It wasn't until I was about 16 that sex ed was offered in school. I was born and raised in the USA. This can happen anywhere.

I learned about sex through a combination of things. Sex Ed at school and my mother. She was very candid and always answered my questions. She never made me feel bad about asking. I was never embaressed...neither was she. I'm 30 years old, disease free, never been pregnant and I practice save sex ALWAYS.

I went to a Catholic school, and my sex education was insufficient.
I learned about condoms from a girl with a bottle, masturbation from a book and the 'how to' of sex from porn.
I was lucky, I got the info, eventually.
However I've known people who couldn't find the 'hole', didn't masturbate and didn't know how to use condoms. They were let down.
These are problems not just in China, but anywhere were sex education isn't properly taught.

I agree, China is a conservative country regarding to sex in general, many parents don't normally like to talk about it, and they censored all the sex websites so people cannot access information there. So if one is a sort of goody goody kid, they will become really ignorant about sex. But in terms of abortion rate, I think the one child policy contributed a lot to it since some parents only want a son for example. Basic sex education is neccessary in China.

i really love this video. my dad is a firm believer that condoms should not be taught in schools. he excused me from school for all the sex ed days and when my first time came around i did not have a condom and had sex with a girl at work who i never talked to again.

I was fortunate to receive a comprehensive sex education, which started in 4th grade and went through 10th grade. In 8th grade, as a class, we practiced putting condoms on bananas - seriously. We also had an optional sex ed class for juniors and seniors that was basically a huge discussion about sex, masturbation, relationships, children, sexual orientation, sexual activities and practices, and of course safe sex.
I never felt "corrupted" or "innocence lost" or whatever.

My mother was a nurse and strictly Catholic at the time when I asked her about the birds & bees. I was 6 yrs old. I got such a technical answer that I had to ask again, but I couldn't get the nerve to ask a second time until I was 9. I honestly didn't get a straight answer until I was 12...
