Jay Perry (Perri). Jay Perry's R & B Special. WEAM. 3 PM every afternoon. My salvation. I Googled him as I've often wondered over the years. However did that happen there, in Arlington? The music he played was the best. And yes I remember Mary Lee.
Great song! My dad is Jay Perri (He is still alive!) He loved this group. He and Whitey Mitchell wrote several songs for them, only a couple got recorded....Baraboo and Jelly Bean.
Gets my vote for the greatest doo-wop song of all time. I lived in the District and heard it on Jay Perry's radio program in 1955, bought it at a little record shop on Wisconsin Ave. in Tenleytown, wore that copy out, bought another, wore that one out too. Fifty five years later, it still makes my spine shiver.

Out of all the great doo-wop songs, this is probably my favorite, at least out of the uptempo ones. (at least in the top 3)
