"Racism" has nothing to do with her last name being "Ronstadt." She is of both German AND Mexican heritage; she is not a "Hispanic singer." Her grandfather was a German inventor, and I believe it was from him that the family got the "Ronstadt" name. That's the name she was born under; it wasn't a stage name. We used to live in Arizona, and you could visit "Ronstadt Hardware" which was her family business.

I am starting a push to get Linda into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. If enough people do it then maybe Linda WILL FINALLY get the recognition she rightly deserves. I have emailed the Hall of Fame to ask why Linda is not in it. Their reply will be posted on some of her songs in YouTube when I get it. The website is hallfame.com. No one has matched the voice, pitch, emotion, and clarity that Linda Ronstadt throughout the '70s and '80s applied to each song she sang. And that unparalleled talent also, amazingly, was and is also quite apparent on the Spanish songs she recorded. In my lifetime, 71 and counting, she is the most unique musical talent that I have encountered. As one who appreciates variety, I acutally wish that were not so and that some other artist had come along to also warrant and command my fading time.

Never heard this version before. Linda looks pretty, but ugh, this arrangement does nothing for me. The Shirelles still do and will always rule this song. Especially with the string arrangement, it's just perfect and nothing has ever improved on it, not even Carole King's own version on Tapestry.
