Finally someone who talks about peak oil then focus on the real problem.. CAR DEPENDENCY.. Finally.

Im sick to death of these people saying peak oil is nearly here, I know i'll drive a hybrid.. Give me a break.. Car dependency is the problem. Moving away from it is a big part of the solution. Thank god i'm not the only person who can see the obvious..

driving 55 makes others very happy as they will use the bit that you save. Doing that is only putting off the evil hour.

I am considered a "Gloom & Doomer" and feel ostracized for expressing opinions "based on incontrovertible facts" on this subject. I tell people to drive 55 and consolidate their trips to save gas. In Texas gas is currently $3.09 at Sam's and $3.15 elsewhere. I realize this is attune to putting a band-aid on a shotgun wound, but driving 55 rather than 70 saves 17%. 388M gallons US daily =66M gallons daily saved. We need to conserve to bridge our reserves. It is IMPERATIVE!
