Yeah I think you're right and we're just disagreeing on terms. I guess the sense in which I meant it was that the movie does not honour their bravery or heroism, as the phrase "honour the soldiers" in a general sense usually suggests (and how I interpreted comments made on various Apocalypse Now videos- perhaps wrongly), rather it sympathises with their ordeal
