  • The perfect song.

  • I smile and cry threw this whole song

  • "I love you present tense." - Hazel Grace to Augustus Waters, The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

  • Found a good cover of this song, if anyone wants to hear it, this guy is good.

    /watch?v=kyURT7bRT_c

  • This song makes life worth living

  • I only wish I could share this with everyone that has ever lived.... but at least we have it

  • Makes me miss so many people

  • Makes me cry every single time.

  • If you like this you should check out the live version at ACL

  • Deep down I love the Creator and the Creation...

  • :)

  • im gonna slip into a coma until the new year now(:

  • everyone's saying this is about religeon, but i don't see it, i think it's just a beautiful song and i don't believe in god either so i'm just going to listen to the song as it is... lovely

  • Why can't we just listen to the song instead of trying to be logical about all the details? I think we're doing the opposite of what music was really meant to do for us.

  • I am forever thankful to the movie "In Good Company" for making me discover this song as the exit music.

"I'll do my best to make a drawing of:

    God and Lucifer

    A Boy and Girl

An angel kissing on a sinner

    A monkey and a man

A marching band all around a frightened trapeze swinger"

    <3

  • I like iron in my wine, and coffee in my coffee.

It's ironic that I drink neither wine nor coffee, but... I sure as hell enjoyed saying it.

  • if songs tell stories then this song tells an amazing one

  • I am playing this at my funeral ♥

  • "In Good Company" credits brought me here. The song is just amazing and makes my every day.

    Greetings from Poland people! ;)

  • Damn.

  • This is secretly my most favorite song in the entire universe♥

  • @punkfilipina88 thanks for sharing that secret with me.

  • Every time I hear the part "Tell my mother not to worry" I burst out crying.

  • I think I just heard my new favorite song in 7 years.

  • @DaleKamp thanks.

  • I love how the uploader's name is Dubberzz... it's fun to see such genre diversity in people....

  • found this song cuz of the movie Timer lol

  • This song attacks my nostalgia. My love, my love lost, my mistakes, her mistakes, and how when it was all said and done, I wouldn't trade it away for the world. For those who have never loved, prepare for the best surprise of your life. Nothing as liberating as the ride of your emotions. Thank you Mr. Beam for the whirlwind ten minutes.

  • THis song makes me want to cry, laugh, sing, reflect on my past and rejoice in the miracle of life. Its beauty is mind boggling.

  • This song brings to my mind thoughts of good food, good people, and contentment.

There is also an ephemeral "something" in the background that makes me remember my dead loved ones; the girl who broke my heart when I was a teen, my shortcomings, and my psychological fights with myself... It has a helluva vibe.

  • Looking at the comments tells me exactly why this song is so wonderful. It creates meaning for anyone. People who've lost their friends and family, people falling for someone, or losing someone. Young and old, and all different emotions. It's universally applicable and it brings people together. This is what music should be.

  • Sorry I've never been good at song analysis... does someone mind explaining the lyrics to me?

  • @musicnomster i prefer to just listen, stuff like this, i like to hear without thinking too much into what it means, but i think it's something to do with death and memory?

  • I want this played at my funeral

  • thank you so so much for this video

  • Press play at 0.00

= ultimate 10 minutes of relaxation (try it)

  • pause at 0.00

open another youtube tab, type RainyMood

    play simultaneously

= ultimate 10 minutes of relaxation (try it)

  • @emorganstudios The rain sounds like bacon frying lol....

  • @emorganstudios I'm having trouble pausing this song.

  • i want this song at my funeral..

  • @gaelitolocoloco But then you won't be able to listen to it!

  • @12lmeganl12 not 4 me

  • Just got broken up with by a guy I moved my entire life for, and actually took him to see Iron and Wine for his birthday last year. Funny that I now use Iron and Wine to remedy my broken heart <3 Thanks Sam.

  • @jessierbearbait I totally understand where you are coming from. This was my song with an ex that I left my whole life for that person, my dog, school, apt, family, everything. Had the best valentines day ever in my entire life and I had some great boyfriends in the past but this was like a fairytale. after seven days he calls my mom and says that he is sorry to her for breaking my heart and that he would have me home that night. Yea I was home tht nite after he packed my life back into my car

  • Great song, great lyrics. A masterpiece in so many ways.

  • Nothing brought me here.

(I'm sick and tired of "thumb us if this & that brought you here)

I'M HERE FOR THE MOST WONDERFUL SONG.

    That is all. ^------------^

  • @missfebruary1986 Inadvertent nostalgia brought me here. I like the way you think.

  • I have this played at an Out of the Darkness walk in memory of my son, Cameron Stephenson 1987-2005....

  • @cczahnow RIP. that is way too young to leave this earth.

  • Well then, you are an image builder

  • driving+a cigarette+rain+this...

A lot of painful memories. a lot of missing....

A lot of not having anything.

A year has gone by and not a day has passed that I don't think about her.

This song and Riceboy Sleeps 'Indian Summer' are the two songs that will always touch my heart. always.

    please, remember me.

  • @JerkyRonson nice trolling. trolololo

  • i love how he almost whispers his songs.

  • Love this SONG!!!!! You guys are image builders!

  • @KeithLeetrio actually it's just one dude :D

  • @TheEmerald92 I love you hahah.

  • this isn't just a song. it's such good poetry.

  • My friend recommended this song. Little did i know, it turned out to be such an amazing song.

This song can make anybody's day better.

  • I'll drop my atheism just for a moment for this.

  • @Sockheadableful I'd drop my pants a moment for this... lol.

  • @Sockheadableful I know that you were just making a point about the song's beauty, but why would one have to 'drop' their atheism to feel every note and lyric as deeply and profoundly as someone who is religious? I just feel that you can watch a sunset and get a wonderful feeling without attributing it to the fact that 'therefore' there is a god. This song is reasonably long, so hopefully this comment can be pondered and then we can all get back to enjoying this man's incredible talent :D

  • @illemE35 Agreed, be it the fact that it reflects one's views upon the perspectives of nature. However, my comment is just a fact that I find this song is benevolent in a way, I'm not saying I am "dropping", but it's just acquiring the fact that one verse of the song clearly portrays some sort of delusion, and I just don't mind it for that particular moment, hence the so called "dropping my atheism".

Well let's not argue any longer shall we (at least not here)? Let's just all enjoy the song.

  • @Sockheadableful

    but this isn't about religion

  • @DuddBudda I know it isn't but there's a mention of superstitious fabric of reality and a deity in the song.

  • @DuddBudda damn right, dude - not at all!

  • @DuddBudda Incorrect. Sam Beam has openly discussed this song as the significant mark in his finding g-d. That's what this song is entirely about according to the man who wrote it.

  • @mxbraun0 I believe that should be a capital G...

  • @Sockheadableful I dont think you have to drop your atheism - this song isnt pro-christianity by any means

  • @whatismyname5151 I think the object of that comment was to say that this song is his religion. It had nothing to do with Christianity.

  • @Sockheadableful that was awesome haha

  • @Sockheadableful hahaha nice!

  • I plan on having the acoustic version played at my funeral. its much softer and dramatic. and makes me want to cry in till i die.

  • if only we could marry songs..........

  • His lyrics are amazing. Every song is amazing.

  • aked me cry my son picked this son for his older sister who passed away in july 2011 hugs and kisses to my son....i sure she is enjoying this

  • I can play this song no matter what mood I'm in. There is absolutely no way to put into words the beauty and inspiration this song gives me on a daily basis. Sam Beam is such a unique and creative genius. I cannot wait to see him perform live for the very first time.

  • My favorite Iron and Wine song. It takes me away.....

  • where can i download this song?

  • this song is freaking beautiful

  • I love this song.

  • amazing song!

  • God. A guy I really like sends me song recommendations. And his taste in music is beautiful. Gah he is perfect. Like me back pleaseeee.

  • @gleighful If he likes Iron & Wine, he must be great. And if he cares enough to send you songs like this, then he must feel something. Make a move:)

  • just discovered this song after liking Iron & Wine for a long time... and dont think my life will ever be the same again...

    what a song

  • MY BEST FRIEND SENT ME THIS SONG BY MAIL A COUPLE HOURS BEFORE HE COMMITED SUCIDE WHEN I RECIEVED IT I WAS CRUSHED.

  • @Storywithin I'm so sorry.

  • @Kellims313 THANK YOU

  • @Storywithin that is a sad story, sorry for your loss

  • 18 people dont want to be remembered after they fuck the man. losers.

  • 18 people have no souls

  • @StevenKlotz1 They must be gingers like me then.

  • There are only three songs in all the world that make me feel like my heart is a burning supernova and someone has brushed a warm hand from my neck all the way down my spine.

    This is one of them.

  • @StrangerToEarth Out of curiosity - what are the other two?

  • @plushsnail @kassandrablack

The Shins - New Slang and Adem - Statued. I Will Follow You Into the Dark on birthdays. And the first minute of every new year. And when I feel a sudden, inexplicable rush of euphoria for absolutely no reason.

  • @StrangerToEarth what are the other two? :D

  • freaking soothes the soul.

  • i played this to my mum when my cousin die dnad she crie dfor the third time in my life.

  • i don't think i've ever heard a more beautiful song. if i wasn't in my schools library i would literally be crying right now.

  • If Sam Beam reads these stupid comments under his song, he'd be so sad. :(

    Sorry Sam! Your song's beautiful.

  • @allthatnow Agreed!

  • You know that list of songs you have that will always be a little hard to listen to after losing "the one that got away"? Almost two years later, this is still one of them..

I force myself to listen to it though, just because it's so damn beautiful.(:

  • is it just my computer of is there a commercial every time I play this song???

  • 'please, remember me; happily.'

  • so gorgeous. thinking of him <3 :]

  • this song makes me think of all the good times brings me tears of thoughtfulness and joy

  • My favorite aunt died in a car crash recently and tonight, when I wanted something sweet to fall asleep to I went to this. I laid back and all of my emotions just exploded out of me, like a waterfall of sadness and longing. "Please remember me, fondly/ I heard from someone you're still pretty." Aunt Melody, Nonnie and Pop Pop named you accurately. You were the song of the family, and when I walked into your party everybody turned to me and cried. Used to say I was you.

And now come the tears. <3

  • @Rainlitnight 'as if we give a shit, lmao.

  • @HoursTillAutumnx

Go back under your bridge, troll.

  • @Rainlitnight 'contrary to popular belief, i am not a bridge dwelling troll. i am actually a marine troll. i reside in small secluded coves, on reefs, and sometimes youll find me lounging on the beach soaking up a little sun. im often misjudged like that. but its okay, i dont blame you. i blame the american society, seeing as how they condone discrimination and alienation due to difference. no worries.

  • @HoursTillAutumnx

and what did I do to provoke the marine troll?

  • @Rainlitnight 'another common misconception. trolls are not able to be provoked. we trolls often lurk around in search of what we call "bait." (sad stories, happy stories, stories in general, anything trollable, etc.) and we do what we do best. we troll. it isnt caused by the victim, not directly. lern2troll.

  • @HoursTillAutumnx quit being an imature dillhole on pages with beautiful music trollings for little kids and people with little to no friends who refuse to grow up not trolling the troll either just offering advice to grow up sooneer rather than later.

  • @BMFmaterial 'good advice. heres some for you. next time youre in 3rd grade, STUDY FOR YOUR SPELLING TESTS.

  • @BMFmaterial 'good advice. heres some for you. next time youre in 3rd grade, STUDY FOR YOUR SPELLING TESTS.

  • @HoursTillAutumnx typos happen man

  • @BMFmaterial 'so does aids.

  • @HoursTillAutumnx

so your need to belittle me is caused by your own sad little life?

    Just leave me alone, goddamn.

  • @Rainlitnight 'belittlement is not the point of this confrontation, and in light of the fact that you said i have a sad life, well, that just screams that you yourself, in fact, lead an unfulfilled life. with that said, CRY 2 DADS DICK 4EVER N00B!

  • @HoursTillAutumnx

really, just leave me alone. I do not in fact have a sad life but a very happy one.

I don't know why you chose to reply to me but I kindly ask that you stop.

  • @HoursTillAutumnx Your a pathetic person for saying you don't care even if you do call it "trolling." Who gives a shit what KIND of troll you are?!?! Have some empathy and respect for once, jerk. If you're looking for understanding and for "American society" to accept differences - typically yours - then you must first understand those of others.

  • this song makes me think about everything good in my life <3

  • dancing in my living room by myself not giving a fuck.

  • @TheEmerald92 man that is awesome

  • I listen to mostly hardcore and metal and this is still my favorite song

  • @theduffman88 lol i was listening to dethklok just a moment ago.

  • Agreed......some music just so beautiful! Why? ......well, IT JUST IS!

  • i cannot stop listening to this sonnng♥

  • heard this years ago during the credits for that topher grace movie wit scarlet jo........i been in love with it ever since...

  • i want this played at my funeral.

  • I don't understand why music is so beautiful.

    I guess it just is.

  • please remember me..

  • When you truly feel connected to a song, it's just..unbelievable. <3

  • I would happily turn gay for Sam Beam and make him sing me this song to make me sleep...

  • @calmhie I play this song almost every night to fall asleep to

  • this is REAL music. Not some shit about drugs or sex.

    i love this :)

  • @Crazyladiesonfire Ha. Good to know that The Beatles didn't make real music.

  • @Crazyladiesonfire I see your point, but the subject of a song is of little importance if it's done right. Having both is what makes great music though, as I&R proves right here.

  • Another great song is Dancing in the Moonlight by Magnet. It doesn't have nearly enough views on the video and I'm sort of sad that it's not better known. Please do look it up. And maybe come back and thumbs this up if you like the song?

  • This is such a beautiful song. Genius composer

  • 17 people love Kesha and britney spears

  • @joselito3000 britney spears fine, but kesha isnt a bad singer....your only listening to what her record company makes her sing. because its what the regular populace crave. look up some of her older, solo stuff. youll be suprised

  • I'll have this played at my funeral.

  • I just...

    I cried.

    I hope that's okay?

  • @Rainlitnight Me too.

  • listen to harvester of sorrow by metallica and this. awesome opposites

  • 15 people don't understand what real music is.

  • @wagnis2013 If by real music, you mean...shit that puts you to sleep.

  • @metalmike83 Did you think about that before you typed it?

  • @metalmike83 No, I mean actual music, stuff you can clearly tell was composed and is enjoyable. Not just some person speaking to a beat.

  • i was just gonna say that

  • you 14 people SUCK

  • @menomoniehockey It's definitely not a Depeche Mode ripoff of that song. It may put you in mind of that song, but the two are pretty much nothing alike.

  • I love Iron and Wine, but this seems to be a bit of a rip-off of Depeche Mode's "It Doesn't Matter" ...or a massive coincidence. Either way, both bands are great and it would be very cool if such different genres were influencing each other.

  • @menomoniehockey I like both songs but...I honestly see no similarities between the two lol.

  • @menomoniehockey Rhythms are going to repeat themselves eventually as the years pass. There's only a finite amount of notes you can do on a guitar.

And I too see no similarities.

  • man this song is uber depression, i love it though, beautiful, one of the best examples of contemporary songwriting to date imo

  • This song makes me grin like an idiot. Fills me with life. Gives me hope.

I'll never understand why. It just does.

  • This is the song I'd choose to listen to if you could only listen to one song for the rest of forever<3

  • This is one of the most beautifully written songs I have ever heard, it's so damn poetic.

  • I think Topher Grace makes a better young ceo than a 70's dweeb

  • @wanderingbuffalo truly awesome lyrics !:)

  • THIS. SONG. MAKES. ME. SAD.

    i love it!

  • Seriously one of the greatest songs ever made. Great to think about stuff. Well done.

  • This song makes my soul dance. I heard this song for the first time in July of 2005. I was 14 years old and I thought I was invincible. Now I'm almost 21 and I haven't grown much in years but I have matured, greatly. It's interesting to take the intelligence and knowledge I have gained and apply it to this song, I come out with a completely different message than I did in 2005. Yet, it still means so much to me. <3

  • Truly wonderfull lyrics.

  • Is it just me or is it incredibly difficult to tell Iron and Wines' songs apart from one another? Seems they all follow the same monotonous recipe as Jack Johnson songs...

  • This is incredibly underwhelming compared to some of the live versions (MESSIAH COLLAGE).

  • this song is so beautiful, but it makes me insanely depressed...

  • This song is simply timeless. Material of this caliber will be heard and talked about for years to come. We are all blessed to be graced by the presence of such an artistic presence.

  • I bet this song will be playing for eternity in Heaven.
