It is always difficult to lose a family pet. My husband and I had to put our rottie to sleep a few years back. It was my very first experience with losing a pet that way. We both grieved over that for a long time. Our home felt empty without him - still does from time to time, but we know he's in a better place. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
It's so hard to loss a little friend, one cannot greive as they do with humans, but the loss is no less. Most people just do no understand. They, our children that we deeply love and their loss is so painful to bare. May time heal your womb, though the scare will always be there.

:' ( I lost a Duncan in 2007. I said the same thing. He was a big beautiful Golden. He was my friend. I was only his sitter. He wasn't mine, I was his. I lived with him for 5 days a week for 5 1/2 years. His mom was trying to rush back but he was so miserable. I brought his sister to him & they nuzzled good bye. I lay with him cuddling him like I used to do when thunderstorms came. I told him if he couldn't wait It would be okay if he went, His mommy wouldn't want him to suffer. So, he didn't.

The way your voice cracks at the end just set me over the edge... Makes me remember my pet rat that passed away not too long ago. It's really a sad thing. That cat is lucky to have you there by his side as he lives his last moments.
I lost my cat, Parkay, he was 23. He wasn't in pain and a very kind vet told me how to make him more comfortable. One would think that I should have been prepared, but I wasn't. Parkay was always around and always with me, just where he wanted to be. My last two nights with him, he slept on a towel beside me and my hand was on him all night. I miss him still.

I'm writing this as the tears are drying on my face. My 12 year old cat has been there for me for so many times. The ex (who, sadly, passed away in 2006) and I got her as a stray when she was about 10 wks old. Keebler has been my comfort so many times in the past 5 years. Lately, I've noticed she hasn't been herself and I realize she's not a kitten any longer. I know a day like this is coming and it absolutely breaks my heart.

I went through this 1 year ago with my 16 year old Mainecoon. Amazingly, I was clam. I knew and so did she. Now I have a baby rug rat who has some of her qualities. I think she picked the new one out for me.
i've lost a young kitten before after only one day of his life due to complications.....but my cat Salem who i've had for more than 10 years is starting to get up there in age....it is not going to be easy at all....because he always sleeps on my bed....i already lost my first cat my gorgeous female calico Moe....she died and must have been attached to me too much because once every night i hear her meow and that familiar purr that only she had....she was born in a wall so her purr is odd

wow, this video makes me want to cry, not only do I love cats but it reminds me of when god took my mom by way of cancer. we (my dad, sisters and assorted friends) where alk around her while she was inconsiouc on a respirator. we were all telling her that she could let go, that she had suffered long enough. ok, now i am crying, anyone wants to call me a pussy go right ahead

I watched my grandfather die in a retirement home when I was 12 years old and I cryed my heart out this makes us realize how precious life is and how Duncan was one life tragically lost. Long live duncan

:( dont be sad.just think he got to go with you by his side the whole time. first i had two cats the youngest died of a stroke but i didnt think much of it i cried but no more.when the eldest died we thought she was pregnant the whole time.we kept her in a big box. when i woke up i asked my mom to check on her and she told me she was gone.i jumped from my bed to confirm it myself.i didnt even get to say goodbye.she died of kidney failure i have another cat now i hate to think of losing her too.

@theironfox ... Dont know what to say... I ve had a cat for 8 and half years and suddenly he disappeared. could not touch any cat for a long time. He was like my son, my partner, my best friend. I never could find out what happened to him. I hope you ve had lots of great memories with Duncan. Its nice to know he had his last moments with your support and love. Dont worry, he is ok now. At least the pain has gone away for him.. Dont be sad though, just remember the good memories and u ll smile:)

The way your voice cracks at the end just set me over the edge... Makes me remember my pet rat that passed away not too long ago. It's really a sad thing. That cat is lucky to have you there by his side as he lives his last moments.

I lost my cat, Parkay, he was 23. He wasn't in pain and a very kind vet told me how to make him more comfortable. One would think that I should have been prepared, but I wasn't. Parkay was always around and always with me, just where he wanted to be. My last two nights with him, he slept on a towel beside me and my hand was on him all night. I miss him still.

R.I.P. Duncan. This made me cry, working in a vets office and owning numerous animals through out the years I've seen many die and it never gets easier.

I'm very sorry for ur loss. I lost my cat Wesley almost 3 weeks ago. He was fine, showed no signs of sickness & I found him dead in his fav spot on the couch one morning. He was almost 15. It's a day I will never forget...:(

I just had to put down my 11 year old cat "Bear" this morning, he looked very much the same as Duncan only he couldn't even meow. The vet said he had severe liver damage. I am very sad, but at least I know he is in pet paradise now, playing with Duncan and many others. R.I.P.

Not sure how I ended up here...
I'm writing this as the tears are drying on my face. My 12 year old cat has been there for me for so many times. The ex (who, sadly, passed away in 2006) and I got her as a stray when she was about 10 wks old. Keebler has been my comfort so many times in the past 5 years. Lately, I've noticed she hasn't been herself and I realize she's not a kitten any longer. I know a day like this is coming and it absolutely breaks my heart.

I went through this 1 year ago with my 16 year old Mainecoon. Amazingly, I was clam. I knew and so did she. Now I have a baby rug rat who has some of her qualities. I think she picked the new one out for me.

i've lost a young kitten before after only one day of his life due to complications.....but my cat Salem who i've had for more than 10 years is starting to get up there in age....it is not going to be easy at all....because he always sleeps on my bed....i already lost my first cat my gorgeous female calico Moe....she died and must have been attached to me too much because once every night i hear her meow and that familiar purr that only she had....she was born in a wall so her purr is odd

im glad ya loved him or her before his or her death, speaking of your cats death,when i was 4 or 5 my cat Casper was 1 and a racoon riped the earth out of him,i dont mean rest in peace rip,my cats Gorgeous and Precious didn't die they just got gaven to a kid named Terry,the orange cat i owned that i named after Presious' sister used to be owned by a guy named Jimmy wanted him or her back so we had to give him or her back,finally i curently own 2 cats named Paches and Stripes

Aw, that was so sweet. What a beautiful death. It made me cry, because it made me remember my own special kitty's death. She died at age 16, just a mere 16 days after my first child was born. I was an older first time Mom, so she was my "baby" for a long time and it was like she held on just long enough until my real baby was born. I miss her so much, but I know she and Duncan went straight into the arms of Our Lord. Thanks for posting that.
