@fctar dude, I just finished this mission 30 mins ago (after failing it like 15 times or whatever) and you're right... hopping in that garbage truck does make escaping easier. The first time they knocked over the garbage truck while I was driving away ( I thought it was lame). the second time though I completed the mission. lol.

I entered the cheat code for the tank before the start of the mission & as everybody in Diaz's crew started coming after me, they'd just crash into the tank instead of spinning me around all over the place.

an easier way of doing this is to get a heli before starting the mission.

then fly to Ken and start it fly to the junk yard and kill them bastards from the side of the building (Bunker) and steal the trashmaster (trash Truck) then they wont be able to hit you as easily.

lol its not hard, just park a PCJ outside in the wide alley thing, blow up the car all the thugs are standing around, pick off any others, push on slowly and take a lot of cover, run out and speed away on the PCj before they know what to do.

well it's actually pretty easy : first kill every motherfucker in the scrapyard real quick ( wear a body armor ) then go save lance , after that all you gotta do to keep Diaz man away is go inside the Thrashmaster or Dumpmaster all the way to the hospital...they can't even push ya hahaha !! That mission was a motherfucker. I used to park a tank in front of that scrapyard before the mission started to use it as a getaway vehicle. I then used to fly in there with the apache helicopter and blew the total shit out of that place. i finally got it done on my 20th try or so.

hey, i just realized how to do this alot easier than normal. in a nearby cluster of houses outside the junkyard there is a super powerful machinegun that you should use, obviously it was placed there for this mission. and i never thought i'd cheat, but if you have trouble, just this once, just type in "asprine" for health (normal, just like taking a heart powerup) or "preciousprotection" for armor. hopefully you will never need it again.
