  • Hei it says : bad value for parameter 'application'

so i cant delete it .. can u say whats wrong ?

  • im with netgear, when i go on killing floor multiplayer, all it says in the bottom right hand corner is "querying master server" ive tried deleting client registry, ive deleted steam and the game and reinstalled them, ive updated the master servers, ive made sure steam and killing floor is not blocked by my firewall, what to i do :(

  • Great this work perfect :)

  • @thefamoushat25 No, I stopped looking in to it :p

  • @Ggrhy ahhh that sucks :( you still lose connection then ????/

  • @Ggrhy

Most probably your ISP turned the telnet interface off.

  • Seems like the recent update has broken this for o2 users.

  • when i entered :connection unbind application=GAME(UDP) port=27010-27011 it said command not allowed :S any1 have any ideas?

  • i got as far as typing in the telnet and the default gate way, it said connecting, then told me it could not open a connection to the host on port 23 then it failed

  • @stabbystabbystabbyst same problem here :(

  • i am with bt. and yeah i typed the telnet stuff and neither one worked. it did'nt recognise either

  • THANKS THIS WORKED!!!

  • thanks mate, very very helpful, telstra modems pass for TG782T U: admin P: admin, if this is not your password, u can check it, well atleast for me by typing in your default gateway into your search bar in your internet explorer, firefox, etc. Then go to toolbox, User Management. It should then show your user name, then just reset password if u do not know yours and type in the username and a password, then just type that into CMD after u type in telnet "default gateway"

  • OMG omg, this works also with battlefield bc2 !!! XD TY

  • @DjFikus goddamit that title is going to be too long if i keep adding titles to it :P

  • does i help if i buy a new router????????? plz answer

  • what if i type telenet then my ipadress like u but it says it would not connect?!?!? wat do i do?

  • Error while connecting to the host - could not open a connection to host on port 23.. This is what i keep getting while trying the step, typing in telnet 192.xxx.x.xxx . Any Solutions?

  • tnx worked!

  • A BT Home Hub is actually a Thomson 585 thats been skewed to BT, you can flash HomeHubs with 585 firmware to unlock them. Thomson 585's are pretty much the router every ISP uses now (SOURCE: Im a tech advisor for a telecoms company lol)

  • One way to get killing floor to work is to open up the console, and then type in "reconnect" without the qoutation marks. Vote this up so everyone knows it!

  • @robisfantasticutube the ~ key opens up the console btw, well for me its ' but i think i may have changed that myself and this does require you to have connect and subsequentially has the problem in a server and is only a temporary fix as you'll have to do it with every server you join which is annoying but the only fix for those without telnet access

  • @xXTheWoulfeXx yes you are right, it requires you to join and then reconnect, but it works ok as a tempory fix. Its in one of the threads but I didnt see it till after i posted so sorry :P You dont know why its saying "Error while connecting to the host - could not open a connection to host on port 23" off by heart either do you?

  • it dose this for css tf2 and dod:s will this work for this but im in australia and my default gateway is :: what do i do

  • it dose this for css tf2 and dod:s will this work for this but im in australia

  • it dose this for css tf2 and dod:s will this work for this

  • isn't there any other way to find out our username and password?

  • when i get to the unbind part it says command not allowed , any solutions ?

  • @SlimsMate08 I have the same problem, its so irritating! if anyone knows how to fix this please reply or pm me.

  • Dammit.. I keep getting "could not open connection to the host, on port 23: connection failed".

  • I've enabled telnet and everything exactly as you said, got my default gateway (the same one as mentioned in this video), but I keep getting the same error a few people have been having: Could not open connection to the host, on port 23: Connect Failed"

    Any suggestions?

  • That's so weird, i have the same ip as you and also have the same router but our logins are different. Mine was User: Administrator Password: [blank]

Anyways thanks for the fix :D

  • Hey dude.. Guess what?

THANK YOU SO MUCH!! IT WORKS!!!!

    WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!!!

  • telnet 192.168.1.254

Connecting To 192.168.1.254...Could not open connection to the host, on port 23: Connect failed

Can't get past that early step :( Any ideas?

  • @AlexanderSZ I had that too.

But then i tried again, and it worked for me

  • THAAAAAAAAANKS! I have the same router(diff firmware everything was exactly like your tutorial thanks a lot :D

  • it fixed killing floor, but not monday night combat for me :(

  • Thank you so much, man. All my man-love will go out to you.

  • I have tried fixing some of my UT3 games by using telnet but it always fails when i want to connect to my router (192.168.1.254)

All i get is "Could not open connection to the host. Connect failed".

I have a Thomsong TG787, is there any solution to this?

  • @lillbrorsan Your problem is the TG787 uses the ip 10.0.0.138 to connect

  • did it and works for me on my T585

  • Comment removed

  • Thank you very much for the tutorial video. Fixed the problem immediately.

Waiting to check for the Xbox to see if my NAT still changes to STRICT after several restarts.

    Thumbs UP!

  • In my Assus router I configured it so that my LAN ip has a "direct" connection to the internet , so I have no problems with any games

  • HELP I HAVE A THOMSON ROOTER

I DID EVERITHING THAT THE TUTORIAL SAYS

BUT WHEN I GO TO THE PART OF THE CONNECTION UNBIND , I PUT THE APPLICATION AND THE PORT AND SAYS "Command not Alowd"

I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO

    NEED HELP PLEASE

  • mine says , at the last part , connection not allowed , any solutions ?

  • @ToxinandGunz me too , have you found a solution ?

  • Could not open connection to the host, on port 23: Connect failed

that sucks :P on BT home hub

  • @Crazyshadow1 they removed the telnet telnet interface in the latest version of the firmware for the BT HomeHub, which is grand and renders this guide useless.

  • at my comp it wont connect to router when i type the telnet 192.168.x.x it says "couldnt connect to host, on port 23:Connection failed

    help anyone?

i didnt write xx in the cmd im hiding the ip

  • @SlimsMate08 same here did you get it fixed?

  • I cant find the password for the telnet thing. I have a Iprimus Homehub Thompson Router. Please help!!!

  • I dont know how to thank you , You sorted my problem with HOMEFRONT having the exact problem you used to have with killing floor . your my hero !!

  • when i type in telnet and then my default gateway which is the same as yours it says could not open connection to the host on port 23, help please!

  • i have a sagem router, im getting problem with homefront

  • I look in the add or remove programs tab: nothing there.

    Me: SHIT

    You: If telnet isn't there...

    Me: There is hope yet!

You: I don't know what to say, because mine was there..

    Me: Fuck.

    (Using windows xp.)

  • @fu2ufr someone else has had that problem and didnt get back to me on the specifics, so when you go to turn windows features on/off nothing comes up or is it just telnet client that isnt there?

  • @xXTheWoulfeXx The window comes up in which I can turn them on or off, but telnet is not in the list. It's quite a short list actually. I've searched around, and I think my provider doesn't let me use telnet. (I live in the Netherlands, and my provider is KPN.) When I try to enter the default username and password, it says that user is not allowed to login from lan to telnet, so I think I'm pretty much screwed. ( I have figured out sort of a fix though, if I join a friend I don't get d/c'd.)

  • Help me please... I do everything but when I put in telnet and then my IP it comes up: Connecting to IP, could not open connection to the host, on port 23: Connect failed

Then it comes up again: C:/Users/K>

Can you please reply to me and tell me what I can do? I really want to play Homefront multiplayer. Thanks for making the video! :)

  • i have a 3com router and i get this problem in homefront but does it fix it if i buy a new router?

  • Thanks alot mate worked for me on Homefront in Australia

  • Thanks a lot mate, I tried this for Homefront as well and it works a treat :)

PS: I'm with Be* and the ports etc. were all the same.

  • @SnazzyCH1 looks like ill add it to the title

  • Tell me where you live, I will suck your dick <3.

  • Awesome job fella this fixes Homefront too ive linked it in their forum so you are probably going to get alot of views lol cheers mate

  • @bmwalp1na cheers dude, it helps if people spread the word, nt for views or anything just so people can stop having these problems if a fix is well known

  • @xXTheWoulfeXx Hey, thanks this helped a lot.

But do you happen to know how to turn off the auto aim grid? To make it less jumpy?

I can't turn on the console in-game for some reason.

    Please help.

  • @MasterofOrigami auto aim grid? what game are we talking about here?

  • @xXTheWoulfeXx monday night combat

  • @MasterofOrigami i unfortunately do not know about that game as i do not own it, maybe visit their forums or something

  • You sir are a life saver! Now I can play Homefront and Killing Floor without a problem!!! You are now a god to me ;)

  • @txcforever i like my human sacrifices done in the morning ;)

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks mate, downloaded MNC and spent 5 minutes looking through google to find you've helped me troubleshoot yet again!

  • I live in Australia and i have a Thomson and it worked for me

    best guide ever!!!!

  • great guide. idiot proof. but it's a bit boring if you already know a lot of the stuff and just want to know the actual fix =p

  • @erubalu well you know these days on youtube, if you dont hold everbodys hand then they will drown in their own stupidity (just check my dazzle tutorial) but getting back on topic this was based off of a quick (and to the point) text based tutorial so was intended to be somewhat long winded and step by step

  • When I type "ipconfig" in the command prompt I get a stream of over 150 messages reading:

"Tunnel adapter Local Area Connection* 152 (or whichever number from 1 - 159)

    Media State . . . : Media Disconnected

    Connection-specific DNS suffix . :"

It will then repeat that message with the only difference being the number depending on which 'attempt' it seems to be. it caps off at 159, and I cannot view anything before the 47th attempt.

What is this and how do I get past it??

  • @nintynomreader hmm apart from ipconfig this website MIGHT work reglos.de/myaddress/

  • @xXTheWoulfeXx I managed to bypass that step by just using the IP code you used in your vid (I noticed my router was the same as yours and I am also with O2 so perhaps that's why it worked) after that I had no problems and from what I've witnessed it fixed my problem, so I am thumbs uping the vid. Cheers for the help!

  • It's weird. My router resets if I try to join a mp game through the server list. Ive tried this fix but cant get past the telnet 192.168.1.254 bit. Interestingly, if i join a game through the steam ingame chat link with a friend it works fine.

  • @jammydodgerman yes joining through a friend/reconnecting to the server after it messes up is the only fix to those who's routers do not allow telnet access.

  • I have the same problem, but i dont have a homehub or thompson.

I got a linksys speedtouch thingy

  • @westarrr the two routers listed arent the only ones experiencing the problem, just the most common ones, giving this a go wont harm

  • @xXTheWoulfeXx Ok, i got in 192.168.1.254 but i need a username and password.

The one i use for my router (192.168.0.1) isnt right.

  • @xXTheWoulfeXx Ok, i got in 192.168.1.254 but i need a username and password.

My default gateway is 192.168.0.1 but that one isnt working on telnet.

The password for 192.168.1.254 is unknown to me.

  • @xXTheWoulfeXx Oh,

If i go to my ip adress: 83.117.51.108

It says i have a THOMSON ST706 router.

    Freaky?

  • Thx man your awesome! :D

  • It was a good tutorial, right before i got that same problem others are having :/

"Could not open connection to the host, on port 23: Connection failed"

  • @TheJadedRaver Hey my game works fine now! Checked the Telnet client box, but got the port 23: error. However, in "aplication sharing" part of teh BT homehub settings, I set steam games and Xboxlive apps to priority. Perhaps this helps too. Figured opening these ports would do the trick to an extent.

  • "Connecting To 192.168.1.254...Could not open connection to the host, on port 23: Connect failed" :(

  • I get an error when I try to connect to the router: "Could not open connection to the host, on port 23: Connection failed." Any ideas of how to solve this?

  • @dagspoket either you have not enabled telnet under windows applications or you router's firmware does not allow it

  • @xXTheWoulfeXx I'm positive telnet's been activated, as when it wasn't it didn't even recognize "telnet" as a valid command. If it's the firmware, is there any way of patching it to allow this?

  • @dagspoket there is a technique called "flashing" firmware, but i have no idea how to do it myself

  • @xXTheWoulfeXx I see. So I'm basically fucked then? :(

  • @dagspoket unless you find a good tutorial on how to flash router firmware yes

  • how long does the telnet client thing take after i tick it and click ok?

cos its taking quite a while......

  • @freedom2mac should be instant like it was in the video, seems your computer might have frozen/crashed try a restart

  • @xXTheWoulfeXx ah, it took like 20 minutes. well i got stuck at typing telnet 192......

but the copy paste the masterserver file worked perfect for monday night combat.

thanks for showing me this i really appreciate it

  • Thank you soooo much!

  • Thanks a lot from Australia!

  • thx:D:D LOVE U<3

  • Thanks mate, this was definitely a bother for playing Mondaynight Combat

  • I got as far as typing in telnet 192.168.1.254, but it came back saying it couldn't connect. Is there something I'm missing or will I be unable to fix this problem till a patch gets released?

  • @NoobMister don't suppose anyone got back to you about this did they? had the same problem

  • just replied to him, you can check the reply

  • @NoobMister sorry this comment never appeared in my comments thing, if you have definately turned telnet on under windows applications and 192.168.1.254 is the same thing your router gives you as you ip then unfortunately all you can do is wait and hope something is done about this in the future

  • It worked, thanks :D

  • When i type in "telnet 192.168.1.254" i get this error message "Connecting to 192.168.1.254...could not open connection to the host, on port 23: connect failed

any idea what i am doing wrong? :(

  • @mewkelliemew firstly dont just use the IP i used (cant remember if thats mine or not) follow the first part of the tutorial to get your own IP. If it still does not work with your own IP then you must assume that your router/firmware does not allow telenet access and unfortunately this fix will not work for you.

  • @xXTheWoulfeXx heya, my ip was actually the same as yours lol, but even with that part not working by just enabling it in that tick box fixed all of the issues, you are a star! thank you for the support and help!

  • @mewkelliemew ahh so not enabling telnet under windows applications gave you that error, iteresting that might help others in the future if they have the same problem, thank you for coming back and sharing that with me, enjoy your game =]

  • @xXTheWoulfeXx

I've got a BT Homehub, if I use plug in a different router would that help

Also what mewkelliemew posted about the telnet command (My IP's the same) I get the same problem, halp

  • @Takara8808 changing router because of a game is a bit dramatic unless you have another one lyring around. Have you looked at how kellie sorted her problem? By enabling it in windows options? If you have done that then its a problem with your router not allowing telnet access.

  • @xXTheWoulfeXx

I've enabled telnet client and I've got a BT Homehub 2.0 which is strange if it's the router problem

  • @Takara8808 no the router IS specifically the problem, its the way they've been setup to not allow certain things

  • @xXTheWoulfeXx

any way you know how to fix it? I've got access to the home hub manager, just wondered if I could tweak anything

  • @Takara8808 the only POSSIBLE fix is falshing your firmware on the router, but i have NO idead how to do that or what it involves and it's apparently risky so do so at your own risk

  • Malta here, same prob with monday night combat, fixed it like a charm. to the letter, nice one mate

  • Thanks!!! this fixed the monday night combat "wall walking" aswell!!!

  • @Folstream o2 is my broadband provider, i assue by that answer they aren't yours. If you look in the video mine says 7.4.20.5 so either it is the updated version stops it or your arent using the right username and password when logging in, what error does it actually give?

  • hmm i just followed the guide line by line, do you see the GAME application on your list?

  • So far the instructions have been working, but when trying to get rid of the GAME line it's saying "Unknown CONN helper, Bad value for parameter "application". Unknown command."

    Any ideas?

  • @WNRvids Tried it with a capital A on application, it gives a different error "Invalid option => Application. Unknown command"

  • @WNRvids did you get it to work, im havin same prob

  • Hello. Just dropping by to say that this did the trick for me for Monday Night Combat. Thanks a bunch.
