  • samba rock

  • Quem veio aki por causa do show do Marcelo d2 no swu da um positivo ae

  • @leosmi1 XD so pq vi a musica no rock in rio

  • viaje sim retorno!!!!!

  • Eu posso comentar no youtube =D

  • Someone should upload the full-length version from the new remaster. It's now rendered this old, bootleg version useless.

  • Thanks Mojo magazine for me discovering this song. It's brilliant.

  • Marcelo D2 Desabafo Deixa Eu Dizer brought me here and i'm glad he did.

  • @diva1675 Me too... & I'm glad too...

  • This is amazing, ahead of it's time and also a huge "risk" for a guy who had such a massive main-stream following. Thank you Mojo magazine for once again getting me to check out a track/musician I'd not normally be interested in.

  • I wonder if peeps just say this is good cos it's "paul's song"

no doubt,if this was a nobody special song, you would not have 1 comment on here

  • @hereinthebronx I think the fact that it's Paul McCartney does add a coolness factor to it. But I really dug what I was hearing when I first heard it, so I had to look it up. There's a lot of trip-hop tracks that are similar to this.

  • Ahead of his time. no doubt. I love this guy.

  • What the fuck is this shit. Its about time some body stopped this cunt. He is about 70 year old now and he is still spoutin his utter shite!!

  • @ST0MP0 This was recorded in 1979, what are you talking about?

  • @ST0MP0 Paul is a genious. You will be THAT genious. Asshole.

  • @MaalePap *Wish you be THAT genious

  • @MaalePap I take it you mean he is a 'genius' you fuckin thick bastard. Paul McCartney could record himself havin a shit and people would call him a genius just because he used to be in The Beatles. Everythin he did after The Beatles is fuckin nonsense and if he hadnt been in The Beatles no cunt wouldve bought these records.

  • @ST0MP0 that's total bologna and you know it.

  • Banjo'd

  • I read this version (full-length) is on one of the new remasters that just came out. It says there are other full-length versions of songs from McCartney II, as well.

  • @TheOneartist The full version is also on the "Lost McCartney Album" which I have.

  • @beatlesfan464 I believe that's from the same source as this. The remasters sound MUCH better than anything that's been bootlegged before. And some tracks aren't even the correct pitch, like the original Blue Sway.

  • Gorillaz sound a lot like this song! : D

  • @TerryCraig23 ? I don't hear it. If anything this is similar to J Dilla or Handsome Boy Modeling School

  • @TheObscureMind J Dilla has a little more intricate beats than this song has, I think. I actually discovered this song (it was not on the first release of "McCartney II") because Paul McCartney himself compared it to Gorillaz and Damon Albarn. And I definitely see a strong resemblance to Gorillaz' first album and 'G-Sides', and partly 'Demon Days', too (not 'Plastic Beach' though). You should check out "New Genious", "Ghost Train", "The Sounder" (without the rap) or "Spitting Out the Demons"

  • @TerryCraig23 Yeah I listen to Gorillaz and I know those songs. The most similar of the 3 you listed is the Sounder, but other than that I don't really hear it.

  • @TerryCraig23 Yeah, I've read a lot of people on the Internet comparing this song to early Gorillaz. Paul himself didn't actually make the comparison, though, it was the guy interviewing him. But then Paul talked about meeting with Damon in the past and is interested in doing a collaboration.

This song definitely sounds like trip-hop.

  • Well, check the man's machine! He's a ledgend! Lol!

  • The sound of someone with access to a keyboard, a 16 track recorder, and a lot of pot.

  • @rocketman512 The sound of someone who's just bought a new keyboard and 16 track recorder (and considering the vintage, a shed load of pot) checking his new machines.

  • I'm checking my machine for 9 minutes

  • i love this many people may find it wierd but i dont cause i'am wierd

  • Before Gorillaz, there was McCartney.

  • DEMAIS, FAZIA UNS 30 ANOS QUE EU NÃO ESCUTAVA ESSA MUSICA....

    MAIOR VIAJEM.......

  • Paul has tha Funk!

  • Sensacional. Muito Foda está música. Velhos Bons Tempos.

    Quem curitu, curitu

  • No need to rate this. There is areason why sir Paul has been acclaimed so highly and others have not. Wrongly perhaps but all the same. Genius cannot be unrecognized.

  • new jack swing by paul!

  • I want to also say that this guy (Macca) has such an incredible following when you think how old this track is, how obscure it is. I like the comments it is similar to Gorillaz. Never occurred to me but sure, I agree. It's also one of those songs that on very very frst acquaintance initially you may not like - but then end up humming it for the rest of your life.

  • This is one of those songs that is about everything and about nothing, at exactly the same time. I like it a lot. Once again, Macca saying, "You were expecting me to maybe sound one way but this is where I'm going. i.e. anywhere at all I feel like''. And doing it so well. I must say though, I prefer the other version to this less polished one (which I hadn't heard before). Interesting anyway. Thanks.

  • The noise at the begining sounds like Homer Simpson's "D'oh" !

  • @phillippelephion I always thought Fred Flintstone!

  • @phillippelephion I thought it was Yosemite Sam

  • @MrBobLucas it was

  • @phillippelephion I swear it was Scooby Doo.

  • versão original do LP....muito bom !!!

  • looks like a mix of Samba and Rock...

  • @Bombomver In fact, it is.

    (De fato é.)

  • amazing

  • Where can I download this track?! I am hypnotized by it completely!

  • @alfizti There's a shorter version on the b-side of the "Waterfalls" single which is also included as a bonus track on the old "McCartney 2" CD. It is also available from most mp3 stores (it's cheaper from Amazon UK than iTunes UK by the way) as a stand alone download.

This version has been widely bootlegged and is also a bonus track on the due out June 2011 3xCD + DVD edition of "McCartney 2".

  • at 15yrs I always LOVED this photo of Paul, never realizing it was his mug shot.

  • @ImAnnaChristine It is not a mug shot. This is from a photo shoot. You can find at least a dozen different expressions if you hunt around for them long enough and they are clearly not mug shots. In other shots he is smiling and making silly faces.

  • This song is AMAZING... how come i didnt know about it before

  • DANCEI MUITO!!!!!!!

  • Concordo... uno pueco desta musica pra viajar... simplesmente explendida... Fantastic music!!!

  • Hermosa canción para escucharla mientras se fuma un poco de marihuana!!!

    Grande Paul McCartney... un Dios!

  • Viajo nessa musica

  • Massa!!!

  • *downloaded*

  • Please...not everything is "MJ"...this is all about Toasting to Jamican Dub...Paul doing a U Roy thing.

  • Doesn't the other version also start with...

'Hi George, Morning Terry. Hi George, Morning terry...' also from the cartoon??

  • Remember liking this as a kid and being totally freaked out one day when the cartoon came on TV that the opening sounds are taken from.

  • check my machine (8)

  • meu tenho 15 anos e acho as musicas daquele tempo muito melhor q as de hj!! aquele tempo as pessoas ia pras festa para se divertir!! Queria ter vivido esta época!!

  • Almost sounds like a young Michael Jackson singing this one, lol.

  • why are people so upset about this? i really don't understand. this makes me look at paul in a whole new light. he's such an amazing artist!

  • This isn`t Paul - It`s a clue for you.

  • dubwiseeeeeeeeeeeee

  • Well I think this is great, kinda like the gorillaz but '82. I've just got hold of the 12" after a year long search.....wooohooo!

  • Calm down everyone, this song was not made for you to hear. It was made so McCartney could check his recording machines. So before you call him "heinous" or "a disgrace" maybe you should listen to the music behind Tpain's autotuned voice.

  • Grandes bailes Sao Paulo Brasil

  • What is this I don't even

  • rip 'is ears off and make 'em into vegetarian sausages (pretend)

  • lol. Harsh!

  • yeah like 78 or 79 i guess. that's more accurate. i guess it came out later than that but was probably recorded before. still! i want to figure out what he was using! :)

  • ok all of you gear geeks out there

    1982 ish?

can we try to guess what he was using to do these sounds?

    i'd really like to know

  • "Check My Machine" was recorded as a way to test the equipment before he began recording his 1980 album "McCartney II". The song was first released in 1980 as a b-side to the single "Waterfalls" and this longer version was included on the CD release of "McCartney II".

  • Album: McCartney II - 1980

  • This sounds like a Gorillaz track

  • very sexy song! I love especially bass in here! such a cool song. Paul in "hip hop (black's people music)" style, I love it! I hate hip hop, but what a nice song, VERY UNDERRATED!!!

    extremely catchy!

  • Powerful weed they were getting in the early '80's

  • AmO, love it !

  • This song always puts me in a good mood, I love it. :)

    I<3Macca!

  • Sound's like Barry Gibb after a lobotomy.

  • He made this album around the time when he let Michael Jackson buy the rights to the Beatles catalogue, right? Two ill-advised moves, fueled by massive amounts of dope, sounds like!

  • He didn't "let" Jackson buy the publishing rights - Jackson outbid him for the catalogue, Yoko as well.

  • Nobody outbids the super-rich Paul Mccartney unless he allows them to.

  • It wasn't just him involved, Yoko too. Do you believe that both of them "allowed" Jackson to acquire the rights?

  • In a bidding war, you allow the other party to win by letting him have the highest bid, if I am not mistaken. Seems like Paul could have outbid Jackson if he thought it important enough. But he is a notorious cheapskate.

  • Maybe 'outbid' wasn't the correct term - it's not like the publishing rights were being auctioned at Christie's or something.

You didn't answer my question: do you think Yoko also didn't consider it important enough?

He and Yoko were going to buy the catalog together, each paying an equal share. Somehow Jackson got involved without their knowledge, or so the story goes as I've heard.

  • Yoko was poor compared to Paul or Michael Jackson, so it's irrelevant what she thought.

I admit I don't know what I'm talking about, but I find it hard to believe that someone could somehow just horn in and take McCartney to the cleaners like that, buying the rights to his songs without his having the option to make a counteroffer.

  • Well at least you admit to not knowing the details. I don't either, but I've read a bit about it and I'm sure we're both oversimplifying it. It does seem ridiculous that Jackson was able to buy them. Keep in mind, Paul fully planned to buy the rights with Yoko - it was to be a 50/50 deal. I believe they were splitting the sum of 40 million, somewhere in that neighborhood. Paul may have missed an opprotunity but it wasn't apparently something he took lightly - I gather it took him years to accept

  • Well, then, we can both say that he 'missed an opportunity'... and (as I listen to this music) it is more than apparent that it was because he was too high to care! No wonder Yoko hates him. He must been kicking himself after he woke up. Soon after, he would pull an equally idiotic stunt and wind up in a Japanese prison.

  • The Japanese prison thing was a few years before Jackson bought the Beatles songs.

  • I love this song! this extended version is great!!

  • niceeee lp ... or 7" .. both has this track ... agree its ahead of its time . .and didn´t had the repercusion it should had.

  • this is great! wow, this guy really got into the grass n whiskey...

  • Este somé incrivel, eu particulamente adoro e dançei muito esse suing ...é uma pena que hj não se faz músicas como as da época anterior..

  • EEEEEK! I can't believe this is on youtube!!! GO MACCA!!!

  • This is waaay ahead of it's time. great track. bside of his Waterfalls 7".
