@cassylangley For your info I KNOW and you DON'T! Laura's tongue was flat and strangely curved instead of the proper ng position. She went flat in parts, and her singing was forced as she struggles to sing using the correct tone etc. Well Leona is NOT good enough! Shanice is doing this professionally from she's 8yo AND her 1991 version is a world classic! I at no time said singing acappella equals superiority, it, however, shows that she KNOWS how to sing on key without musical aids.

She's amazing but no one see's the difference with Mariah's and Shanice, Mariah has that piercing whistle sound where as Shanice is more like a really high falsetto, Christina even does that... Mariah goes super high!

'Whistle' tone doesn't have to sound like an actual whistle as in the case of MC. It can sound birdlike a la Minnie Riperton or flute-like (Shanice). Shanice can go super high without that thin piercing effect of MC which really lacks power and clarity since it's covered in air. Christina is wonderful but she doesn't have the elasticity of Shanice.
