  • I still cant whistle.. :'c

  • This helped very very very much. Thank you!!!

  • who gives a shit!!!! just get on with it ok

  • Hi, I'm 15 years old and for 7 years of my life I have played the flute. Since then I have never been able to whistle properly, because to play a flute you have to blow across the mouth piece correctly. Could this have affected my whistling 'technique'? What can I do about it? :)

  • What irks me is the fact that I've learned to whistle incorrectly. I can whistle, but the the opening is not in the absolute middle of my lips, it's about quarter inch to the right from the middle. Thus, I cannot modulate the size of the opening without fucking up the whistle.

Since I learned this method as a child, it's fuckhard to unlearn it and learn it again correctly. But hell if I aint gonna try. I wanna whistle like in the song A Fistful of Dollars. That's nigh godlike whistling.

  • I nearly get it but I only make gud wind sounds

  • True story: I was trying to learn how to blow smoke rings and I could have sworn I heard myself whistle. Could not replicate it though. Ten minutes of this video and another ten minutes of starting at my lips while I made funny faces at myself while listening to the air flow by.... and I still can't whistle. :( What a waste of those ten embarrassing minutes. Maybe I'll try again next week.

  • You look a lot like Rob Schneider. Makes these videos all the better!

  • lol at "the master makes the servant uncomfortable" haha

  • nice laugh lol

  • get to the fucking point

  • I can only whistle the exact shitty note but cant whistle anything else. Any tips?

  • The Way I Did It Was A Bit Different Than Yours, Lol, I Got Kind Of A Gaptooth, And When I Pucker My Lips And Blow I Can Whistle Pretty Loud Through In-Between My Teeth And When I Move My Lips They Make Different Pitches Of Whistling, Is That How You Do It? Cause Mine I Guess Is A Little Unorthodox :P

  • This is fuckin bullshit, I can't fucking do it

  • well i was not able to whistle even a sound. then i watched that video. but the same again. i was too upset that still i could not whistle even a sound. then my brother called me loser and asked me if i learnt sth. then i started to whistle. very low. then again. lil bit more stong. then i heard the sound is coming. and finally i managed to sound the whistle clearly. im so happy now. thanks a lot.

  • cool i can whistle a note but its not as loud as yours. but I can whistle 3 times in a row and then i stop. XD well ill keep practicing

  • i just got some breeze between my lips and no sound out of them. :(

  • whistleling makes me dizzy. :p

  • Ohg i can whistle!!!! Thank u!!!

  • i can fart with my throat :)

  • this kind of helped actually O_O

  • I tried this for a week

  • i feel dizzy

  • when i whistle i "suck" in air to make sound not blowin O.O opposite way of whistling.... -.-

  • lol i can whistle suck in but not blowing out:))

  • Comment removed

  • this didnt help me one bit

  • excuse me id like a little help if you dont mind answering im a newcomer to whistling and i can only mostly get one type of pitch and when i try to get any other type of pitch mostly i try and only air comes out i do everything you said but im not getting any other kind of pitch. also thank you so much for uploading this if it wasnt for this video i wouldnt have ever gotten any type of whistle at all i am very grateful

  • Omg...my first whistle.

  • For Christ's sake, whistling is fucking difficult. Maybe it's the shape of my lips? I don't know, it really wasn't one of my childhood priorities to learn how to whistle.

  • any1 else think he llooks like rob schnieder??

  • hey, do i place the tongue's tip in the air or at the base of my jaw?

  • hey i can do that one with the roof of my mouth, i sound like an old kettle

  • Thank you so much now i can whistle because i couldnt whistle then i watched this video now i can make some noise come out of my mouth when i try to whistle thank you:)))))))))))))))))))

  • My cheeks puff out and I'm wondering it affects me trying to whistle or not ._.

  • i practiced for a few minutes in my bed and i felt hyperventilate so i stood up quickly and held my breath and than i fainted i swear!! lol

  • I cant whistle but i started to practice and honestly im getting better and better and i didnt listen to any of the tips

  • great, i still cant whistle, and now i feel lightheaded :L

  • dude i still luv ur vids

  • ima go whistle beethovens 9th symphony now

  • I had Bell's Palsy (Facial Palsy) will I have problems?

  • @Jibbletoad Sorry to hear that. My ex-wife had Bell's Palsy for several months. No fun.

I think you'll have difficulty trying to whistle when part of your face is paralyzed. You can try, but don't be disappointed--it does require control of the muscles in your mouth, cheeks, and lips, so you may not be able to make a solid enough pucker. BUT if your Bell's Palsy has subsided, and you don't have any current paralysis going on, then I don't see why it should have any effect. You should be fine.

  • @WhistlersBrother plz man i am being teased cause i cant whistle pzlgiv meh a few mor tips

  • you should also try to be a comedian cause u made me laugh so hard on like 5 part of the video, ur funny (:

  • @xxjose95 Thanks! I have a few comedy videos on my channel. (I think I might actually have a playlist of my comedy stuff if you click on "playlists" on my channel.) I hope you find something in there that makes you laugh more!

  • LOL you made me laugh on the part of where u say that some people whistle with their mouth that look like their smiling at u, and also on the part of where u say "i hope that wasnt too embarrassing" and also when you said "people have been banging cave women over the head by bat and dragging them by their hair and all that good stuff" & "unless ur missing a lip or somthing lol

  • I was trying to whistle and then you started whistling at the same time but i thought it was me and I got O happy.. but then I looked at the screen and then.. I died.

  • @Mubsx LOL I had someone else say the same thing a while back... I hope you were able to get a sound out eventually though!

  • @WhistlersBrother hey do you know how to sing well too, because it seems like if you know how to sing you can stay in pitch very well while whistling.

  • My mouth dries out when I'm whistling:( to be honest you would look pretty good if you shaved your head, but awesome vid now I can get a sound out

  • @godcantsaveyounow Haha, thanks. I'll post a vid of it if I ever shave the head.

  • Your scary laugh is soooo scary bitch!!

  • @jake45901 Thjanks, I try. Hey if you really want to hear how scary my laugh gets, watch my video "Scary Story - Do Unto Others"

  • i can whistle waaay better ..

  • I feel really stupid because I really can't get a sound of my lips! And I got dizzy trying so much :(

  • Great, no noise, and now my lips hurt :'( And i'm grade 3 piano! The failness is unbearable!

  • YES I CAN BLOW OUT A NOTE

  • this doesn't help me at all. I want to audition for a play at my performing arts camp and I need to whistle for this one part in the song and this isn't helping!!

  • @CheesyCinemaStudios Who picked the song? Can you pick whatever song you want?

If you picked it, then I have to ask--would you attempt to audition playing the harp if you had never played one before? Or guitar? Piano? Whistling is like any other instrument--if you've never done it before, you're not going to sound good any time soon. It takes lots of practice.

My advice to you is to stay within your comfort zone when auditioning. A poor, foul sounding whistle isn't going to win you any points.

  • @WhistlersBrother Yes, I can pick the song. But I'm not a talented singer so I'm kinda limited. Thanks though I'll keep trying :)

  • @CheesyCinemaStudios Ah. Well I'm sorry my video wasn't much help. It takes years for most people to even sound decent though. Same thing for singing, for that matter!

I think a lot of people make the mistake of trying to stretch their abilities to do a difficult song when auditioning (or try to do something they're not able to do) but I think most judges would rather hear a simple piece executed beautifully. Maybe you could hum or sing the whistling part? Good luck, I hope you do well!

  • I need more practice.. Only thing that's coming out of me is carbon dioxide.

  • Lol i can finally whistle

  • thanks i can whistle

  • @shakillful I mean congrats! LOL

  • my mom said you would be really hot if you shaved all your hair off....and you taught her how to whistle. so thanks!

  • @danieljonesnc Cool! Glad it helped her. Tell your Mom I would let her shave my head if I wasn't married... haha

  • i cant whistle well at all ! all i make are high-pitched noises. i duno what i'm doing wrong.

  • LOL WELL GREAT FOR YOU I'M LIKE 6 times older than you were when you learned

  • I can't get it :( i'll keep it up though, and you said you are an herbal kind of guy? do you mean marijuana?

  • @MultiVaginaJuice Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme... (Or whatever else if my doctor recommends it.) LOL

  • Does the tongue have to be directly on the bottom of my mouth ? erm sorry

  • @embalmerist No, not necessarily. Your tongue could be sort of floating there close to the bottom of your mouth, and/or maybe the front half or front portion might even be pointing at an upward angle inside your mouth. The main thing is, you want to have an open space inside your mouth and have the tongue pretty much out of the way. Make sure you're dropping your jaw a bit, teeth slightly apart. I hope this helps!

  • Is it fair to call this a tutorial when he doesn't actually explain anything about how to whistle? He's saying a lot of things not to do, but there's literally no advice here on how to create a whistling sound. I just wasted ten minutes.

  • @danxenatro It really is the shittiest tutorial on all of YouTube except for that stupid one about how to get a good looking girl without spending any money... Total fiction.

  • i still cant whistle :(

  • @shunshunrikkanumber7 It might not have anything to do with the wetness of your lips; it may be just that you haven't gotten a strong tone yet. That's OK -- it may take you a while to develop a strong whistle. (By the way I don't use Chapstick either. Occasionally I'll use the Carmex, it's much more useful.)

  • I CANT FUCKING WHISTLE FML

  • @xXStevenStamkos91Xx Please don't F your L. Keep trying, with patience you will get it.

  • @xXStevenStamkos91Xx Me neither. :(

  • No lie, I've spent my life invisible to women. During that time I was an avid,if amateur (I can barely get through "Return of the Mack"without 7"dissonance instances"LOL) whistler. BUT,3 weeks ago I saw the most beautiful woman ever being hassled by 3 men who (while I'm no gay) I'd describe as adonises. I don't know what came over me , but, I knew she didn't appreciate the attention so I began to whistle "Old Man River" loudly. I'll just say that we've been *&^ing ever since, Whistle on. Whistle

  • @DirkBrougham Haha, cool story, Brougham. (I hope it's true. That's a badass victory for whistling.)

  • @WhistlersBrother Aren't you a little too old for 4chan...

  • @MegaBlueZOMBIE "Cool story bro"... It isn't just for kids on 4chan any more... LOL

  • 0:00

  • look at

    0:06

  • aha! you're a funny guy, I bet you're a fun guy to have a beer with. You're like Rob Schneider with long hair! no offense intended!

So far you've given me better tips on whistling than anyone else, thanks. I've been trying to whistle for a long time and have never been able to get it right..very frustrating.

    thanks again!

  • @savestheeday Haha, thanks... I don't drink much beer though. (I'm more of an herbal kind of guy.) I hope you keep at it; if you don't give up, and keep experimenting, eventually you will get it. Good luck!! Thanks for the kind words, too.

  • i've been tryin' to whitle for more than 15 years and i still cant do it .

  • damn i tried to whistle and dang ! did my saliva went splashed !

  • lol press 7 then 6

  • anybody can do it?? HOW COME I CANT!! lol im a teenager and i still cant

  • i kinda bite my tongue down with my teeth on the sides, but that cmes natural to me, i cant do it any other way. and i feel like im blowing more air out than im whisteling

  • i dont get what people mean as press a number

  • The pitch is very low and my lips tremble like if i was trying to lift heavy weights. Is there any useful supplemental lip workouts? Also i keep getting lightheaded

  • I searched this because I want to whistle like In the song Moves like jagger.. Thanks alot.. still I can't get the whistle but I sometimes get a few whistles

  • LOL. That's hilarious on the pressing 6 and 7 thing...

  • He kinda looks like rob Schneider. Haha ... Thumbs up if you agree.

  • Lmao Press 1 (Look at his fingers!!!)

  • haha 7:55

  • the only reason i'm learning to whistle is to learn wind of change by the scorpions

  • ARGH!!! I STILL CANT WHISTLE AFTER WATCHING THIS AND IM 18!!

  • This guy knows too much, fried my brain with all his knowledge, and I still can't whistle haha a

  • tighten your belt!

  • No, I still cant do it! can you give more tips, also i feel tired after practising some time, i guess the problem is about the amount of air that passes!

  • Can you explain again how you change the tone of your whistle (high pitch to low pitch) ? Also how do you maintain the whistle i.e. one continuous sound

  • @zanelegendkiller If you watch my whistling tutorial #3 it's about changing your pitch... And to maintain one continuous note takes a big breath, and let it out slowly. But if you mean to keep whistling notes and more notes and so on, then that is accomplished by whistling both breathing in and out, so you can switch between the two and keep on whistling.

  • @WhistlersBrother Thanks alot

  • I've been able to whistle my whole life, but sucking in instead of blowing out..

    How common is this?

  • @zeledge118 Very common... apparently. LOL I seem to get this comment a lot. It is almost the same skill, whistling exhaling versus inhaling; very similar, but different enough that some people can do one but can't get the hang of the other way. I do encourage you to try though, because when you can to both, then you can whistle on and on with a lot fewer breaths in between. But, if you are happy just whistling "in" that's OK too. :)

  • I was watching this and doing what you said and then a sound came out and i was boucing around my house

  • @asainman5 Cool!! Congratulations!! (Don't damage the ceiling though.) :)

  • @asainman5 Jeaaalooouusss ... An hour of whistle-faced silence has numbed my lips.

  • I'm trying but still no whistle or anything close to it. I suppose you have, or have had students. Have you ever had a student that could never learn to whistle?

  • @QUABLEDISTOCFICKLEPO I haven't ever had students... I don't give lessons or anything. LOL But I have had several people on YouTube tell me they just couldn't get it at all. But some of them came back a few days later or even a week or two later and told me they got it after all. So, keep trying! And read all the comments on this page for additional tips... Maybe something in there might help you some more. Good luck! Don't give up!

  • press 6 then 7 LOL

  • @TheEliteGamer13 I laughed so hard the first time someone pointed that out... HAHAHAAA Amazing how perfect the timing is on #6, and then the two of them together is priceless. XD

  • its funny hearing someone talking about whistling very seriously hahahahahaha

    thanks though!

  • press 1

  • @dadassahin hahahahahha

  • try applying chapstick to keep your lips moist

  • hey mines coming along! i can hear a tiny whistle sound!!!

  • @SkiingRuocks Congratulations!!

  • he makes whistling sounds so dirty :P

  • i can actually make a sound now, somehow you have actually helped me. it doesn't sound so good yet though.

  • @Lolorolopolomint Keep whistling!! You'll improve with practice... Within a few weeks you'll probably see a big difference already. Congratulations!!

  • haha he has glasses on his shirt!

  • @xXMCGamerXx Golly. I'm going to have to make a new whistling tutorial just for people missing a lip. I never realized there were so many of you. My apologies.

  • @xXMCGamerXx OK... right.... Because a guy with no lip would really be clicking on a whistling tutorial video. You're right. How insensitive of me.

  • I'm missing a lip and I don't think it's very funny to joke about it. Dick.

  • @pepster77 I hope you find your lip. Where was the last place you remember having it it?

  • i can only whistle inwards but my whistling inwards is fairly strong, is this a problem? should i be trying to whistle outwards?

  • @hampson2 Nope, that's not a problem. Whatever works for you, keep doing it.

If you can learn to whistle exhaling too, and do both, then you can whistle non-stop pretty much because you won't have to stop to breathe in between if you get good at doing it. (I do this but I still stop to breathe a lot; just depends what I'm trying to whistle.)

  • press 1 and see what he is doing with his hands

  • karate chop at 8!!!

  • i still cannot whistle its like imposible to me i have been trying for like 2 years and watching videos for like 1.

  • @darkgeorge70 Its Impossible !!

  • I love K-Swan...dirty little necrophiliac

  • @MrPoopTosser Ryan is sexy :D

  • how come this is not helpin me at all :O

  • keep pressing 1,, then keep pressing 9 , like if you have a dirty mind ;)

  • @txsydney8 Congratulations!! :)

  • i tot that i whistled for 2 hours....becoz it was a windy day

  • y u no work?

  • LOL 6 then 7

  • @TheArnie13 HAHHAAAAAAAAA Holy shit that's the best combo. I I think this video had the ultimate luck with the numbers. I was saying "Maybe you can see this, even on my lips" but the timing of #6 is so perfect... It starts right at the "S" in the word "this" and turns it into something else entirely... LOL If I didn't know any better I would think they have engineers at YouTube trying to find the best placement of the numbers down to the millisecond.

  • @TheArnie13

what are the number buttons? are you talking about 6 and 7 on the keyboard or something else?

  • @SummernlightningUSA Yes after you start watching a video, any video on YouTube, once you have either watched the whole thing or if you click ahead to skip to a future point in the video, then if you push a number button on your keyboard (zero through 9) then it will skip to a point in the video timeline. The lower the number, the more toward the beginning, and the higher the number, the more it skips toward the end of the video. If you push a button repeatedly it can be pretty funny sometimes.

  • Does it make it harder to whistel if I have crooked teeth?

  • @bigrobsgirl07 Well, people are different, so I can't say for sure, but I don't think it would be a problem. Unless your teeth somehow prevent you from pursing your lips, that is. I think one of the most important things at first is to keep trying and to develop some lip strength, as funny as that might sound. I was young when I started, but I seem to remember that my lips would get sore after a bit of whistling, but that's no problem for me now.

I'm not as good as the guy in the video though!

  • @bigrobsgirl07 It might make it a little harder, but probably not much unless your teeth are a freakish monstrosity. My teeth are not perfect, they're pretty crappy actually. In fact one of my top front teeth is broken from getting hit by a nunchaku so it's shorter than the other one. I had to make a minor adjustment in my technique after that happened but it hasn't really had any impact. I think you should still be able to develop good technique, regardless of the teeth.

  • @WhistlersBrother Well, I have an extra tooth which makes one of my frount teeth stick out further then the rest, in fact I even have an indent in my toung b/c of it.

  • @bigrobsgirl07 I don't know because I don't have your mouth, but my guess is, it should not keep you from whistling. Are you able to whistle?

  • @WhistlersBrother lol nope. I have tried for years, and just can't get it.

  • this is bull shit

  • @D1ckNaBox You're spelling it wrong. Bullshit is one word.

  • no help

  • just whistled for the first time in my life

  • hey whistlersbrother, i can actually get a sound out after this tutorial practicing for like 2 hours! thank you so much! haha but the sound is really silent. is there some kind of technique to make it louder or you just keep on practicing and itll get louder without me noticing?

  • @adidas4725 Congratulations!! Yes the more you do it, the stronger your sound will become. With repetition, your lip and mouth muscles will actually get stronger (I know that sounds strange but it's true) and over time your whistle will become stronger, more solid, and more pure tone. In general, more air will make it louder too, but the amount of air you can use is limited by the strength of your technique. As you do it more, you will get better, and then you'll be able to add more air too.

  • i can almmost whisle but itsVEY OW PITCHED

    :(

  • ...king philosphy.

  • nice hairline bro

  • Hahaha keep pressing 8 i think he did 6 after 8 xD

  • @CodTacticsGaming CONGRATS!! I hope this vid helped. :)

  • @CodTacticsGaming LMAO!! That's hilarious...

  • @CodTacticsGaming Press 4 tell me what you think he is doing?

  • OMG PRESS 1 and look at his hand
