My point is, is that they have all been an intregal part in achieving the success that JRNY has. There are 2 sides to every story, & I feel sure we will never hear SP's. He talks about nothing. I think, if asked, NS would have no regrets w/ SP's inclusion in the band. So why should we?

Greg Rolie got so jealous that he left the band at the height of their success. one word EGO. Its such a cliche the other band members become jealous of the singer because they can either make or break a bands success. Its not the first or the last time it will happen.

Not sure where you're getting your info from..ya might want to check the list of Journey songs at ASCAP to see the writing credits. A collaborative effort (between JC, SP and NS) on 97% of the Journey catalogue.

journey made sperryshit coz he was never popular when he was with the sullies band. jon and neal were to get credit for writing and putting lyrics and music to the songs sperryshit co-penned. sperryshit tried to go solo but failed and his 1st solo concert in 1994 proved that when it flopped so he realized he needed his name attached to journey coz that's how he got noticed. he will always be remembered as former journey employee and not as a solo singer.
for NCFLbabygirl - Steve has such a huge fan base - of all ages - because his music is timeless and ageless. He can rock, he can sing ballads to perfection.....he does it all!

They are just a tribute band now with that impersonator, Arnel aka Neal puppet. LOL They don't get the fact that they will never be on the charts again without Steve Perry. I agree with you both 110%! I never watch any of the tribute band videos, only the Steve Perry videos! STEVE COME BACK TO US!!

tarah,they didn't really know him,they could have just kick him out though but they didn't because Neal and Steve later discovered , they have the songwriting chemistry hence their first song PATIENTLY and as Neal said SP is the voice of Journey that bring all the success to the band.That feminine voice that u don't like is the reason why the journey is in the Map,that VOICE is the reason AP got picked by Neal remember so calling SP a garbage is just like calling the band journey garbage.

My point is, is that they have all been an intregal part in achieving the success that JRNY has. There are 2 sides to every story, & I feel sure we will never hear SP's. He talks about nothing. Perhaps if pple. did hear his side, views would be changed. It's real easy to agree w/ the side that's doing all of the talking.
I think, if asked, NS would have no regrets w/ SP's inclusion in the band. So why should we?

SF94101, they can hear Steve's side of what happened by watching the youtube vidoe VH1 Behind the music Journey. Steve said he always felt like an outsider. Greg Rolie got so jealous that he left the band at the height of their success. one word EGO. Its such a cliche the other band members become jealous of the singer because they can either make or break a bands success. Its not the first or the last time it will happen.

particularly any one single member's style of music, not even Perry's. But together, it worked. And yes, it was SP who instigated firing HH, but noone really knows what that was all about. Have you heard some of the stuff that HH says about the rest of the band, much less Steve. He lives w/ a shoe in his mouth. SP has since, thanked HH for hiring him sev'l times, one of which can be seen on Youtube. About the 'not feeling part of the band' comment. It was taken out of context(GQ article.)

tara con't...If they had continued down their same path, it would have been EXTREMELY difficult to attain the success that they did with SP. "Commerciality" may be the downfall of music, but it certainly affords all of them a tremendous lifestyle, one which allows them to go on vacations w/ their families, support their own children's musical interests, and still be able to play what they like to play in local clubs, etc...w/out worrying that they aren't getting paid much. tara-So obviously you don't like SP, and I say to each his own. (Not to sure why you're posting on a "Strung Out" video though.) But anyway, you're exactly right. It was only through the urging of HH, that SP entered the band. NS would have been very content leaving well enough alone. But, do you think he regrets the decision? JRNY had already made 3 albums prior to SP's joining, and albeit, fantastic albums...they were on a fast road to nowhere. About to be dropped by their label.

I listened Sunday to Uncle Joe Benson's interview with SP & Jrny. They sounded completely at ease with each other and the past. Lighten up sunshine, it's not your war!

sperryshit didn't injure his hip so he didn't had any hip replacement. he purposely stalled the band for 1.5 years to avenge his embarrassed feelings he got from being hated after firing herbie and ross valory from Journey. his loyalty was questioned too when he did the oh sherrie project behind Journey's back and him losing his voice wasn't a surprise coz that was a punishment for him who was so prideful about his garbage voice.

Some facts:
-Herbie/CBS wanted SP for JRNY, but he was accepted for his obvious vocal ability. Why would Herbie choose him if he wasn't great?
-Herbie managed the band for many YEARS after SP joined.
-SP said WHEN HE FIRST JOINED he didn't feel like part of JRNY because he - RIGHTFULLY -had to prove himself to Neal. Wouldn't any new person feel like the outsider?
-The music industry recognized Perry's unique gift, and it was the industry/critics who dubbed him "The Voice".

These 2 videos were companion pieces (search for long versions of each to get the 'whole picture. The "Oh, Sherrie" video was actually released BEFORE the "Strung Out" video, but takes place in time AFTER it).
At the end of "Strung Out", Sheila from the record company tells SP about a hot director with a high concept for the "Oh, Sherrie" vid. The theme is the big, staged Camelot wedding set seen "later" in "Oh, Sherrie".

taranaaaaah, if the songs that Steve wrote were so bad, I have read the song "Makes No Difference" that Herbie heard Steve singing was from his Alien Project work and that was the reason Herbie hired Steve for Journey in the first place. He has included his Alien Project material in his music over the years.If you want proof that he is a songwriter listen to the "Writing Sessions" of "Missing You".

it wasn't sperrusit's voice that got him the job, it was herbie who fought hard for his inclusion coz after hearing him sing, the band wanted someone who can scream but herbie insisted that they should get used to his voice so they gave him the job. he wrote songs too when he was with another band that didn't make him popular until Journey with Jon and Neal's skills and expertice made him popular so your proof of him as a songwriter is as garbage as he is,

Not sure where you're getting your info from..ya might want to check the list of Journey songs at ASCAP to see the writing credits. A collaborative effort (between JC, SP and NS) on 97% of the Journey catalogue.

journey made sperryshit coz he was never popular when he was with the sullies band. jon and neal were to get credit for writing and putting lyrics and music to the songs sperryshit co-penned. sperryshit tried to go solo but failed and his 1st solo concert in 1994 proved that when it flopped so he realized he needed his name attached to journey coz that's how he got noticed. he will always be remembered as former journey employee and not as a solo singer.
