A little recent history that may offer some insight to the anger of the folks in this video. They came to hear what he had to say. But he showed up with no microphone or bullhorn and no intention of being heard. It only fueled the Cap & Trade fire. Many of these ppl had called his office to voice their wishes on the subject and were told "Don't worry, he's voting against it". When the day came, in the morning, he indicated a "no" but in the final vote...he voted in favor. Untrustworthy.

I know you have said that you don't nessicarrily support it so i won't say anything more about that. 1 thing though, why is Obama, trying to make it so that he only needs 51 votes to pass this bill? that is a direct attack on our system of checks and balences... actually those figures are correct but not the full story - every tax payer earning under $102,000 pays an additional 8.65% of their compensation in FICA taxes paid thru their employer, plus federal and state unimployment taxes
since that money ends up in the general government fund it should be considered as part of income taxes being paid

I'm a politically independent (anti-republican) small business owner that CANNOT POSSIBLY afford to see a physician as things are now. And I'd really like to, and I'm of the age that I'm suposed to (ahem) get a few things checked, but I simply cannot afford to pay more than a days earnings for a two hour visit to the doctor (an hour and 45 minutes of which is spent in the waiting room).

A little recent history that may offer some insight to the anger of the folks in this video. They came to hear what he had to say. But he showed up with no microphone or bullhorn and no intention of being heard. It only fueled the Cap & Trade fire. Many of these ppl had called his office to voice their wishes on the subject and were told "Don't worry, he's voting against it". When the day came, in the morning, he indicated a "no" but in the final vote...he voted in favor. Untrustworthy.

currently private health insurance plans offer abortion coverage - the government plan may in fact allow a provision for women to receive that same benefit, but the Hyde amendment prohibits federal funds from contributing to abortions - that alone will keep very few if any funds going to abortions

If you oppose abortion, you should want specific wording in this bill that prevents the coverage of abortion. It amounts to raising taxes to keep going - part of why they are in trouble is they already spent your money on CEO pay and bonuses - also because they made poor business investments with funds you paid instead of saving it to pay your health bills.

actually those figures are correct but not the full story - every tax payer earning under $102,000 pays an additional 8.65% of their compensation in FICA taxes paid thru their employer, plus federal and state unimployment taxes
since that money ends up in the general government fund it should be considered as part of income taxes being paid
when that is added up it changes the equation quite a bit

To be honest, I'd have to research your point more, but taxes really aren't all too interesting to a 24 y/o. However, the principle remains, that to say that "the rich don't pay their fair share" is pretty idiotic . I'm willing to bet that if you look somewhere in the thousands of pages of tax regs and code, you could find plenty additional taxes imposed on the top fifth at all levels. If someone truly wants "fair share" then impose a flat tax across the board instead of this class warfare.

And I'd really like to, and I'm of the age that I'm suposed to (ahem) get a few things checked, but I simply cannot afford to pay more than a days earnings for a two hour visit to the doctor (an hour and 45 minutes of which is spent in the waiting room).

Because of private healthcare, the hippocratic oath, our judeo-christian values of life, patients and their doctors determine the value of the patients life- not the gov. When government decides to play God in order to determine the value of even one life all of humanity is devalued. When god, the patient and the doctor decide the value of one's life the answer is always priceless.
