Stuff happens in roller derby....whether it is banked track or flat track. Skaters get hurt. We all know the risks before we ever step on a track...we accept the risks of serious injury because we love the sport. No skater wants to see another get seriously injured, regardless of what it looks like during the game. I've seen one of my own teammates go down with compound fracture of her leg during a flat track tournament. I've broken my own leg at practice It happens. It's the nature of the game

1. Outside of the pack by half a lap. Do they penalize for that?

2. Picks up momentum from out-of-bounds for the hit.

3. Pushes, hard, with her arms when she connects.

4. Falls in front of her target.

I really hope that merited a game ejection. When this sport is done for real, especially on a banked track, the rules are incredibly important for the safety of the skaters!

jdcinsf, AKA Tim Patten is the owner of what used to be the San Francisco Bay Bombers. A derby squad that mattered 30-40 years ago but is nothing more than a retro/nostalgia outfit. He can't accept that today's derby fans don't want the worked sport that derby used to be. He can't accept the skaters of today, how they look or how they skate. These tracks are put up with safety, its the sport that isnt the safest, but is fun. We get hurt on flat track derby this is worse. Don't block in that part of the track. Learn the basics of defensive blocking before bouting. Don't let skaters into a game when they can't even stay on their skates and fall on their own accord. Derby ain't for skaters who can't yet roller skate. TXRD injuries are costing over $100,000.00 in claims a year. These injuries are the TXRD's responsibility.

Roller Derby is dangerous. Skate at your own risk and don't skate with others who can't stay on their own skates. The basics.
