It is a body wave with a lock (yoga term: bandha) applied at the pelvis. The principle is that if you can undulate in waves or circular movement freely beyond a lock, the level of relaxation is high enough to enable the cleansing of the fascia. The challenge is to open the grantis knots at the lower dantian (gate of life = Brahma knot), middle dantian (crushing bone = Vishnu knot) and upper dantian (jade pillow = Rudra knot). Without sufficient inner peace or meditation, the knots remain locked.
Most people consider drunken styles to be the most recently developed(and therefore youngest) chinese styles. In fact, a lot of the strikes used in drunken styles are a modified "gou shou" in which the fingers grip as if they are holding a shot glass. The "drinking" movements are simply a way of drawing back/sweep-blocking the face to generate more power in the strike. So anyway, it's probably safe to say that drunken styles have never had an effect on any other styles.

Yeah this will improve martial arts striking. It's obvious if you just watch and imagine neuron recruitment involved.

It's actually kind of a wave and not a shake. You can see that the hands are drawing a circle to one direction and then to the other.
