Maybe if you knew what this whole thing was about you'd be the one who needs to "like shut up." The mission wasn't to plant the flag and therefore claim the territory as Russian, the dive was actually carried as an attempt to prove that the underwater formation in question is an extension of Russian landmass, according to geological evidence, as opposed to an extension of other countries' land. The flag was purely symbolic.
