This is touching, disturbing and powerful. I have watched several times and it tears me up. One of my best friends lost his wife, 6 yo daughter and mother in law to a tragic collision. Then, 4 years later his only brother in law (wifes younger brother) was killed in a collision. two of the 3 died in the car. I was with my friend when we got the news. He was a good friend of mine and we had just camped that weekend.

Has anyone ever seen an ad which I think was anti-distracted driving, where there is a couple in a car that ends up crashing into a tree while the song 'Get Over You' plays over the top? We were shown it at a Drive Alive day at college a couple of years back but it's the only one from the day I've not been able to find since.
Anyone from Australia? I went over there and drove about a bit, and from Sydney to Melbourne. What I found fascinating is that speeding over there is almost as socially unacceptable as drink driving. Everyone sits between 110kmh and 120kmh on the motorways. I did the whole journey at 115 and was overtaken just once.
In time what's socially acceptable and what's not will change - just look at talking on your phone whilst driving... 15 years ago you wouldn't think anything of it.

On our last trip to Oz we couldnt get over that in every lane every car was doing the same speed limit... in the UK there is the fast lane, and people drive fast, on any given day you can see people do upwards of 100mph, in the slow lane everyone does at least the speed limit, if not those drivers are quickly over taken. While I am a huge supporter of these ads, it did make driving rather dull in Australia. But dull is better then dead!

Also, GPS based speed measuring equipment isn't effective in domestic products at the moment. I think that dashcams which are in common use in commercial road transport would suit the job adequately.

@tracervudu7 Men die more often because they ignore the law and take risks...that's just how men are wired. We're thrill seekers and can be overconfident. Per million miles driven, women do have more accidents than men, 5.7 - 5.1 respectively. Also, there's more skill involved with driving a car hard. Fewer accidents but more deaths makes sense for men, but being slow and cautious doesn't make women good drivers either. Plus men drunk drive 5x more than women which contributes to the fatalities.

@cunt3d however, the guy who tried to cut the other driver off, swerved to save the dog's life, and instead had caused the entire accident which affected more livelihood than his own, is not rare. the point is that innocent lives are affected when people do not follow driving regulation, regardless of how forthcoming events may occur.

please fellow drivers be careful! my sister drives and i have just passed driving school. i saw many videos but they didnt get to me until i saw one with a guy talking about how he lost is sister to a drunk driver. i literally started crying in the middle of class. everyone has family and no one wants to truly lose them. yes they can get aggravating but we all still love them. if your friend is drunk and you are not then YOU drive them home. dont let your friends or family be a victim. PASS IT!

@robocon2 The silver car tried to cut across the car in front of it, but when it swerved back into the lane in front of the other car, it was at a really bad angle (nearly sideways) so the other car clipped the side of it and made it flip over.

That's not even because teens are "dumb" or anything like that, teenagers just tend to have a higher superman complex. They don't realize they're invincible until something happens to them or someone else. That's why they do things like car surf, it's fun and they don't think they can get hurt. I am 15 years old and im almost afraid of getting my license in a couple years and i have good reason to. It's not about the bad drivers, it's about the GOOD drivers because while you are driving safetly and obeying the rules of the road, somewhere out there there is someone who is not. and the one to pay for it is usually the good guy. If people were educated and made aware of the dangers, it would save alot of lives because remember: Car accidents cannot be stopped but can be PREVENTED!!
