This sounds like a game where you can 'change the world'... but whatever you do, you don't really have all that much change on the world, because some other big dog will inevitably get ahead of you. So, seeing as that's the whole thing that lures people into the game anyway...

Think about it. Instead of just getting the computer gamers, CCP is targeting the console players as well. And with it being to different games being linked by the same story-line and corporations and alliances, EVE gamers that have friends that don't have a good gaming computer but have a console can encourage them to join DUST 514 and join thier corporations. And with this, EVE gamers will proably play DUST and DUST gamers will probably play EVE. CCP is going to make a killing on these.

Think FFXI... All of this takes place in ONE universe. PC, PS3, and Xbox360 players all are fighting, 'etc.' in the same universe. Every player in EVE is always in the same universe as every other. The console players have a unique role; defend and capture planets. In the EVE pc game, the players will be able to hold onto planets and reap benifits. Console players ensure corporations who maintain the planets well, maintain the planets from being taken over! Simple.
i am NOT a console noob. i used to be a sucessful 0.0 Caldari pilot with 8BSs and 5 Drakes. This was back when exodus came out. i LOVE EVE but i have left off PC gaming. i cant wait for this to come out, i cant wait to get back into the corporate drama and i cant wait to get back in touch with my old corpmates.
nah, it make it a lot better. a PS3 is a PS3, and an xbox is an xbox. they can write the game knowing exactly what the framerate will be, how the lag will pan out, what the graphics will look like ect. with a PC game (lets take eve as an example), you get players who have so little screen resolution the local chat takes up half the screen, then you see u-tube vids (like this one) where people with mega computers dont even have to turn brackets off in 400+ ship engagements!
gameboost-naah, I don't think so, and if you can't beat 'em, just join 'em, plus if theres a 'butterfly' effect, you could go into their alliance with your friends, and cause as much chaos as possible, just blow all their stuff up, it'd be like playing as rebels and blowing up the death star lol :) if this works, it will be EPIC
biggest problem I anticipate is the larger alliances just slamming one side continualy aka caldari or a bob like allliance.
But alot of people do love the underdog, if thats true about the low security locations, gate camping is going to reach an all time high(even more than it is now)
Sure, EVE Online is for the PC. And I love EVE. But in heart I've always been an FPS player. I loved the time of games like Return to Castle Wolfenstein en Aliens vs Predator 2. FPS games like today make me sad.
If any, I was very much in love with an MMOFPS game named Planetside. And I would love for another game like that. When CCP announced an MMOFPS I was joyed, untill I heard about it being consoles only.:(

I do know that it is "Console-Only" and if I heard correctly in the CCP fanfest 2009 video, if you have an eve account, they might not charge all together, but as he said, they are still developing the game, so anything could happen at this point. And also, not too sure about this, but isn't CCP the only Game development corp that has done a "PC to Console real time" game? Seems to me this is ground-breaking in the gaming world, CCP is flippin' Awesome!

It is an MMO though. It works in conjunction with EVE Online; Eve Online players hire DUST 514 players to capture planets for them like mercenaries, although I would suspect that Corporations would have enlisted 'soldiers' to avoid having to pay on outside contracters whose skills might not be up-to-par
In addition, their isn't a monthly fee as such; they talked about using Micro-Transactions, which I think means you pay for better equipment or something, I'm not overly sure on it
From what I've read, its an MMOFPS - tied into Eve online - so planet side battles could effect eve, and vice-versa (like a fleet could blockaded a planet and cut them off from supplies).

Do you think Dust 514 will include Faction Warfare? If so, do you think it will be just another caldari noob spam? (I'm caldari myself btw) They just seem to be the generally favoured faction and they tend to swamp the battlefield until the resistance is too frightened to come out. For the halo fan out there, if you haven't play EVE online, please do not put the comment that going to say. " Oh CCP so copied HALO" if you do that, then basically halo copied other games that involve space, aliens, and guns. That's just stupid. EVE is a complex game, economy is user base. I don't know why so many want to shout about "they copied Halo." This isn't just about another FPS. This is an extremely innovative idea, to bring together planet and space and connect what I hope will potentially be two very big games. The actual combat is just one aspect, and there are much greater things to this than that.
If this game is being developed by CCP then you can assume that it will be very ambitious. I would imagine that they will try to make it as complex and engaging as EVE online (My one gaming love). The game (According to CCP at the EVE fanfest) will be directly linked to EVE and the people on the ground will be 'Paid' by player owned corporations in EVE to defend thier planets and stations etc. I would guess this cash (ISK is the in-game currency) will probbably be used to upgrade and buy eqpt.

The real army must have copied halo too, seeing as they have had cars with turrets on them since WWII. And helicopters are where used for "pick-drop up-off" since before the xbox was conceived.
Is this going to be a proper MMO, with hundreds of people fighting each other at the same time, in the same battlefield - or is it going to be one of these psuedo MMOs with limited numbers (sub 64 players) in instanced battlefields, where the only thing connecting them together is a persistant stats server?

One thing I see happening here; How much ISK do you think your equipment costs? And how much ISK do corps stand to gain from planets? If it is a lot, who is to say the corps wont pay billions to the mercs, allowing them to buy their own god damned mothership and blast the enmy from orbit? Exaggeration, I know, but what I'm trying to say is: If a corp pays a lot, does this mean that one side has a MASSIVE advantage over their opponent if they are from a smaller corp? In the interests of fairness.
If they want to make it good they will do this - small things will be cheap, because that makes sense, however - if you want real top of the line equipment - it will cost a very pretty penny, kind of like the military haveing very advance tech thats not accessable to everyone, well unless you have a shit load of money perhaps. hopefully i made my point. but idk im really disapointed by how this looks, it looks like any'old fps, and even more so - halo anyone? sad face ccp, sad face :(

I think this will be awesome. I have been playing Eve for a year and a half, and I have a 360 set up right next to my computer anyway.
Besides when my corp is waiting to hotdrop a target sometimes we sit around for 2 or more hours, and I usually will play halo/Cod4 or just play guitar while I wait to hear my FC scream through vent.
I think this is a great idea in how to make the planets explorable, I will be playing both. :)
Man this trailer is awesome. The idea for this game is so unique and brilliant, I cant wait for it to come out! Hopefully it'll be a successful concept.

Well I'm a gamer that runs on an 8800 gt and I get into mass effect not because of it's graphics but because of the immense storyline, that's why I play games on the 360 through solo before i play co-op campaign 'cause I like the storyline. ( and yes I still have an old TV that's small as hell )

You gotta be kidding. You do realize 360 uses the Xenos which is a console equivalent to the Radeon X1600. PS3 uses a console Geforce 7800 equivalent.... ok an xbox 360 runs off of I believe a 9800 GT not even a GTX or let alone the 250 GT's which are completely better, plus you can overclock a PC to 3.8 on a reasonable cooling system, an Xbox would die just at normal temps. Remember when they were fucking up with "Red ring of death" The reason was because there CPU's were heating up to much. So fuck Xbox 360. Power to the PC world and us true gamers

In my opinion, none of the ships in this trailer are any ships we've seen before. None of the ships in EVE have the ability to maintain altitude, since they rely on the lack of gravity.

Sure, EVE Online is for the PC. And I love EVE. But in heart I've always been an FPS player. I loved the time of games like Return to Castle Wolfenstein en Aliens vs Predator 2. FPS games like today make me sad.
If any, I was very much in love with an MMOFPS game named Planetside. And I would love for another game like that. When CCP announced an MMOFPS I was joyed, untill I heard about it being consoles only.:(

I do know that it is "Console-Only" and if I heard correctly in the CCP fanfest 2009 video, if you have an eve account, they might not charge all together, but as he said, they are still developing the game, so anything could happen at this point. And also, not too sure about this, but isn't CCP the only Game development corp that has done a "PC to Console real time" game? Seems to me this is ground-breaking in the gaming world, CCP is flippin' Awesome!

It is an MMO though. It works in conjunction with EVE Online; Eve Online players hire DUST 514 players to capture planets for them like mercenaries, although I would suspect that Corporations would have enlisted 'soldiers' to avoid having to pay on outside contracters whose skills might not be up-to-par

From what I've read, its an MMOFPS - tied into Eve online - so planet side battles could effect eve, and vice-versa (like a fleet could blockaded a planet and cut them off from supplies).
But we'll have to see if it works out that way.

Do you think Dust 514 will include Faction Warfare? If so, do you think it will be just another caldari noob spam? (I'm caldari myself btw) They just seem to be the generally favoured faction and they tend to swamp the battlefield until the resistance is too frightened to come out. If its not FW then fair enough, I still wanna be Caldari, They ROCK (and their ships etc look the most 'human')

For the halo fan out there, if you haven't play EVE online, please do not put the comment that going to say. " Oh CCP so copied HALO" if you do that, then basically halo copied other games that involve space, aliens, and guns. That's just stupid. EVE is a complex game, economy is user base. As far as i know, actually 98% of it. I would love to go down to the planet and shoot some body. Oh not to mention the Titan in EVE is HUGE!!!!

I don't know why so many want to shout about "they copied Halo." This isn't just about another FPS. This is an extremely innovative idea, to bring together planet and space and connect what I hope will potentially be two very big games. The actual combat is just one aspect, and there are much greater things to this than that.

If this game is being developed by CCP then you can assume that it will be very ambitious. I would imagine that they will try to make it as complex and engaging as EVE online (My one gaming love). The game (According to CCP at the EVE fanfest) will be directly linked to EVE and the people on the ground will be 'Paid' by player owned corporations in EVE to defend thier planets and stations etc. I would guess this cash (ISK is the in-game currency) will probbably be used to upgrade and buy eqpt.

The real army must have copied halo too, seeing as they have had cars with turrets on them since WWII. And helicopters are where used for "pick-drop up-off" since before the xbox was conceived.

Is this going to be a proper MMO, with hundreds of people fighting each other at the same time, in the same battlefield - or is it going to be one of these psuedo MMOs with limited numbers (sub 64 players) in instanced battlefields, where the only thing connecting them together is a persistant stats server?
Real shame they're only doing it on consoles though... world needs a modern Planetside (Yes I know SOE is suposedly working on a PS sequel, but it's SOE, they have a habbit of screwing up)

One thing I see happening here; How much ISK do you think your equipment costs? And how much ISK do corps stand to gain from planets? If it is a lot, who is to say the corps wont pay billions to the mercs, allowing them to buy their own god damned mothership and blast the enmy from orbit? Exaggeration, I know, but what I'm trying to say is: If a corp pays a lot, does this mean that one side has a MASSIVE advantage over their opponent if they are from a smaller corp? In the interests of fairness.

If they want to make it good they will do this - small things will be cheap, because that makes sense, however - if you want real top of the line equipment - it will cost a very pretty penny, kind of like the military haveing very advance tech thats not accessable to everyone, well unless you have a shit load of money perhaps. hopefully i made my point. but idk im really disapointed by how this looks, it looks like any'old fps, and even more so - halo anyone? sad face ccp, sad face :(

I think this will be awesome. I have been playing Eve for a year and a half, and I have a 360 set up right next to my computer anyway.
Besides when my corp is waiting to hotdrop a target sometimes we sit around for 2 or more hours, and I usually will play halo/Cod4 or just play guitar while I wait to hear my FC scream through vent.
I think this is a great idea in how to make the planets explorable, I will be playing both. :)

Well I'm a gamer that runs on an 8800 gt and I get into mass effect not because of it's graphics but because of the immense storyline, that's why I play games on the 360 through solo before i play co-op campaign 'cause I like the storyline. ( and yes I still have an old TV that's small as hell )

You gotta be kidding. You do realize 360 uses the Xenos which is a console equivalent to the Radeon X1600. PS3 uses a console Geforce 7800 equivalent.... I love when fanboys have no facts to back up their statements. Those chips are atleast 4 generations behind current graphics solutions available for pc soon to be 5. All hardware the console gets has been released previously for pc and modified to fit the small form factor. While technology just continues to advance for the PC.

ok an xbox 360 runs off of I believe a 9800 GT not even a GTX or let alone the 250 GT's which are completely better, plus you can overclock a PC to 3.8 on a reasonable cooling system, an Xbox would die just at normal temps. Remember when they were fucking up with "Red ring of death" The reason was because there CPU's were heating up to much. So fuck Xbox 360. Power to the PC world and us true gamers
