Normally the aquarium fish breeders collect the Moina and Daphnia at the Indah Water Treatment Pond early in the morning before the sun rise,as during this hour the dissolved oxygen level in the pond is the lower, and these microscopic organisms float up the water surface where the atmospheric air dissolve in the water surface that contains higher D.O. level.
Hi Teeklip, no, they are not nocturnal...they are actually attracted to light. And yes you can catch them in the morning, early in the morning, that's the only time you can see them forming red patches on the water surface. Once the sun is up they just vanish into the water, and you can never see that phenomenon, not even in the evening.
lol! yeah not actually been eating any yet... I can only imagine the fishes delight at seeing those macro-mini-beasts though! Happy New Year to you aswell!
Because catching daphnia can be dangerous if you are not experience and familiar :) You might fall into the pond, so just a warning especially for those who can't swim :D
i doubt you actually used a torch (the flaming kind)
