There are lots of white people who appreciate funk. I used to go the House of Blues in Hollywood to c Bootsy, Pfunk, Cameo, Larry Graham, and others, and more than half the audience was always white and/or latino.
@ SavioRxB18C1;That's cause you've got soul... The problem is that folks that can't " let it flow" or just cut loose cause deep inside alot of white folks know it's there but they're afraid to just let go & let it flow. To them it's like gettin' the spirit of the Holy Ghost!! & if they're not feelin' it whatsoever, then they're just straight-up- L7!!!
did he have a tree in his garden he needed to get rid of, hence the chainsaw near the beginning. The version my brother has on vinyl is much slower but just as funky. What's going on?
Hey guys and ladies i've said this before on here but when it comes to music,,,,it has no color as far as i'm concerned. Back in the day i went to a Mahogany Rush concert and i'm sure i was the only black there but i really didn't care. I'm into Funk,Blues,Rock,Hard Rock and u name it but not rap !!!!! i'm just from the old school but if i like it....i could care less what color the artist is !!!!!!! plain and simple... but it's all good............
Alot of white folks do appreciate funk. When I go to jazz, blues and funk concerts, the audience is at least 50% white. The rest are black and latino, and I am black. If I'm not mistaken this was an overseas concert.
I think that we can safely say that funk transcends all race and reaches a spiritual plane. From the ancients dancing on the one to funktastic Bootsy, it is just in our souls.
Man, that was so freaking live. That was beautiful. I would also love to see the rest of that concert. Thankyou for posting. I always dug that song. Bootzilla was so smoking on that, and so was the band. Long live Bootsy. "HEY LEROY, YOU HEAR DAT???"
anyone know where I can download the full Landover performance? or know where I can download this live performance in mp3 format?? I would love to have this stuff on my ipod.
I DO, YA MUTHA!!!! Yeah, I'm into Bootsy, etc, and I really love Zapp and Roger. It's hard to find white people who appreciate funk and RnB. So, peace to ya. Oh yeah, remember, don't fake the funk, or your nose got ta grow!!!!
@pazzensutra I think there are lots of us pale people who like RnB and funk. Maybe we are a minority but still many. Bootsy, Sly, Clinton and JB are some of my absolute favourites who could *really* make music swing. Like Roto-rooter... but only Bootsy could make that. He is one of a kind.
Though they have some young fans, every year the line to the mens room gets longer and longer and the straining sounds of their ex-hippie corporate attorey fans gets louder and louder between AWB and TOP sets..
My overall experience though is that some funk groups do have a lot of white fans... but you meet them at the club, not on the street... P Funk especially.
I remember going to this show. P-Funk always threw down in Landover Md. The Cap Center was right on the Md. D.C line and the Cap Center would be packed everytime P-Funk was there. Lot of memories of some great concerts there. To bad it's gone now. Thanks for this post.
Man you can still see them! George Clinton still plays with the p-funk allstars im gonna see them in august at electric picnic yeay!can't wait, look uphis sight and see if hes playing anywhere near you
I'm a big Bootsy fan. Actually haven't heard anything from him since he went and played with Dave Stewart. This was the forth or fifth best song on Player of the Year.
