@loumarsdrums i saw it but what reasons did they say to u because there were other tryouts that were more technical and had better patterns but they were boring to watch. im confused what they were looking for
@mrWhoWantsAHug in my opinion there were many technically better and/or faster drummers, however the judges scored the competition as follows: 30% technical 30% originality 40% showmanship. according to the judges my solo scored the highest over-all rating
Great solo. I actually plan on buying this set. The only problem I have is that it looks a little small, but I love how the rack toms are not on the bass, so they're much more versatile.
you might want to consider trying the Dixon Outlaw, a Pro Level kit and the one I play on my official website. i'm a big guy and the Dixon Outlaw is a big kit with a big sound that fits me just right
I was looking at that, but I don't have the money for that type of set at the moment, haha.
I know that the Dixon Demon is $500 right now at GC, and I saved up just enough for this particular set. I'm not that tall, but do you think it's still a good set size wise?
yes, i not only won a national contest playing the dixon demon, but i also recently played 4.5 days 108.5 hours for the Guinness World record event on both a Dixon Demon and Outlaw, and both kits held up great. The kit in this video could have been adjusted to fit me more, I was simply short on time.
televised on Comcast on demand from November 2008 thru January 2009 and shows the process as to how the judges selected and scored the final six and then the grand prize winnner
Thank you, and i felt the kit sounded great that day too.
If you like this kits sound, you may be interested in checking out the Dixon Outlaw, their top-of-the-line set I play in the video on my website -> loumarsdrums com
(insert dot before com)
In my opinion the Dixon Outlaw has an even louder rich deep sound.
thanks! actually only the first portion was based on the number of views and rate score; the second portion of the contest was up to the Hollywood judges ruleing by 30% originality, 30% technical and 40% presence. You can watch the whole show on my website loumarsdrums com or on the ARC Channel
Hey Lou I wss just checking you out here online and wanted to say what a pleasure it was to meet you last night and I look forward to watching you, Jessie and Sara grow as a band and in particular for Sara to grow musically. Danielle and I were very impressed at your talents and your professional attitude. Best of luck in your future endeavors. Spencer
no offence, but when you play some of those drum solos on the middle and floor tom (eg. at 0:30 - 0:35), it sounds a bit like charly antolini, just in a more 'rock' version (not saying that this is a bad thing). I really enjoyed this though!! Nice drummin...
P.S. the drumming also reminds me of my idol - animal (from the muppet show)!
No offense taken, Charly Antolini is an awesome player and I am honored to be compared. In the A&R Channel Dixon Drum your way to Hollywood special where my drumming is being featured (can be viewed on Comcast, ARC Channel or you can view via my myspace/loumars blog) my playing style is compared to Gene Krupa and Keith Moon (also very humbling). But I'm also a big fan of Animal!
Thank you everyone for your votes (the contest is now complete) that helped me make the final six. The judges explain further why they chose me for the Grand Prize in the up-and-coming televised special available on the A&R Comcast on demand channel or ARC online later this November 2008. They also comment on other drummers performances in the contest and as to why they were not selected.
Thank you for your support, Hollywood was a blast!
Lou, Killer on the drums babe! I always knew you were a man of many talents but this was just fantastic. You are on my list of favorites. I got a 12 string with electric pick up when you want to jam! Theresa
Lou, I'm going to share this with my son so he can see what to Aspire (no pun intended) to! Good job! I know a bass player and some gee-tar geeks that would love to play with you!!!!!
I've laid down my sticks in awe...you've got this contest wrapped up Lou!!! Incredible work. And since I could see your left foot, you even pulled all that off WITHOUT a double kick pedal!
That was awesome!!! I thought you needed greasy, long curly hair to play the drums & sweaty armpits. Now I can put a face to the voice. When you're playing the drums are you thinking of Nicki yelling at you "100 more squats!!!"??? Excellent!!! Well done!!!
I need your positive votes folks for the Dixon Drums national drum-off contest. The contest started in July and ends September 27th, therefore please subscribe and leave positive feedback as I have a late entry start point!

Simply jaw dropping drums.
What's even more amazing is how his left foot comes up while he's playing.
Now that's something I've never seen before, but indicative of the world-class level of playing.
He's the first drummer I've ever seen that could actually kick somebody's a** with a Karate kick while playing drums. Astounding!
I'm sure he'll be picked up by a major national touring act soon and be living in fame, glory, opulence and rock star heaven.
Kids, start practicing now!
