I believe in the end David Ash is going to be UT's QB later on. He has the best throwing mechanics out of the three. I watched Gilbert in high school, and his mechanics were great in high school. Now at Texas he throws completely different, he squats down a little now and has an extremely long delivery. A lot of his balls get batted at the line. He tries to aim the ball. If he fixes that and goes back to his motion at Lake Travis he'd be fine.
@adgw1423 no Wood was not the best QB he had struggles with throwing the ball accurately and this is after he attended seemingly a new training camp on his own every month. he seems like a good person but im sorry he was NOT the best QB the best talent i believe is Connor Brewer who is coming in next year from Arizona

Even after last season i thought ok he had a rough time and we lost a lot of good players that year. However if you still believe he can do the job then you are either stupid or crazy. He struggled during the BYU game and had to have Ash and Case bail him out of 3rd in longs. One in particular Ash got a first after Gilbert messed up the first 2 downs,....
...then on the very next play they put Gilbert back in, what happens? play action then a deep throw into.....(heres the kicker) DOUBLE COVERAGE and it gets picked. He has no future at Texas i wouldnt even want him as the backup. He needs to transfer period. Im not saying he wont ever get out of whatever rut he's in but we have the depth we need (Case and Ash) for now so theres not point of keeping him on the roster. I really do with the best for Gilbert but its not gonna happen at Texas.
GG should be done after his last performance at the scrimmage. You play the best guy. Ash over GG. I'm tired of the argument that he didn't have a lot of help. If he can't get it done now, it won't ever happen. He should transfer at this point. I think he could be a good QB, but it's all in his head at this point and the spotlights to big for him.
GG makes bad decisions PERIOD.. Yes the O-line was garbage.I thought GG was going to be the next Tom Brady.Not from the hype but from watching him in high school.I understand the diff from HS to UT.GG flat out just makes bad decisions.I hope things have changed.Otherwise case will and needs to come in.Sorry bro Hook Em

I think Chase McCoy should be the starting quarterback. But then if they do play him as starting quarterback people will think that he is gonna follow in his brother's footsteps and be just as memorable as Colt was. Personally I think Gilbert is way too overrated. I think the reason why everyone loved kissing his ass was because he won like 2 or 3 state championships at Lake Travis High School. There is a fine line between High School Football and College Football. Great video as always

With Gilbert bein the "top" qb right now, you gotta understand that in this qb competition, he has not seperated himself from the other guys. Either the other qbs are really good, or Gilbert has not improved/progressed at qb. Whatever the case may be, im sure Mack will move fast if things have not changed at qb from.last year.

Garrett Gilbert will be the starter...its notbjust the fanbase that is lovin David Ash...leaders on the team, like Blake Gideon, have said he's an athletic freak...and said he looks the best at qb. He's faster than the other qbs, has a great arm...and has tons of potential. i think he's too young to start, but next year, he might be a "great" kinda qb. Alot of people are saying Ash is the future.
id hate to say it but i think Ash will be a benchwarmer most of the time unless they move him to punter which i hear is a job he could possibly do. Connor Brewer out of Arizona i think is gonna be the next starting QB after Gilbert and Case leave. the offense Brewer is in right now in high school is just a variation of the Boise offense so he'll have a very good understanding of what Harsin likes to do and how the offense works

Gilbert just threw an interception and an arm punt on consecutive drives and was benched. He is most definitely not the starter anymore.
