I remember this...I'd play this real late into the night as a child, and get scared as fuck. I'd not even want to leave the town. The sound of all the monsters looming about in the dark and enveloping forests and caves... It didn't all look so pixelated in the 90s though...

For example monster are spamming at pretty random places on the PS, and on the pc there always on the level.

I just think it wasn't powerful enough

I've done some poor research for Darkstone on Playstation(PS1) but I keep finding these reviews of it that mention this 2-character gameplay which my PS1 Darkstone version doesn't have. Anyone else other than myself that has this "version"?

this is very different from the ps1 verson (mine) but doesn't the story line change after you beat the game once? like i had already defeated Draak and then some guy from Kaliba attacked and killed Draak in the beginning. can someone help? and nice walkthrough dude it's pretty awesome.

@Turanga1i1a Darkstone is obviously a rip off of diablo, but from what i remember of the ps1 darkstone it leans more towards adventure fantasy more then adventure horror that diablo (diablo 1 anyways) focused on.

In my opinion, this game is the poor man's diablo almost like comparing say world of warcraft to runescape. the menu design, the level design, the character design are just plain ugly & the voice acting sounds pitiful. diablo 1 gives us fucking boobs dude (succubus) instant win.

@Xilom10 The problem is really that diablo had the same idea, first and better. but that aside this game isn't exactly "classic" or "overlooked" by any means. good graphics aren't as important as the right graphics. this game actually had nice up to date graphics at the time, the problem was this game relied on them. the story was dimestore, atmosphere was lacking, music is sub par, art was meh, gameplay was choppy and unbalanced. this was a game you bought till something real came along.

@Xilom10 graphics are more important nowadays because most original game mechanics have been used already, and the only ways to set them apart is either by story or by graphics. graphics are far easier then making a compelling story so it's the biggest factor now.

Graphics are how your characters,monsters,environmen­ts,equipment,attack&magic&all other animations, and monster reactions look. that's Damn near an entire game wouldn't you say? add music, menus and story then you got Jrpgs.

I like this game. The combat aspect of its gameplay isn't nearly as challenging or, perhaps, fun as Diablo. But Darkstone more than makes up for any faults with its beautiful 3D graphics, set designs, color and lighting. The puzzles within the quests are smartly put together. And, oh, that beautiful music!

This was a classic... *sigh* Takes me back to do the days I had a level 50 assassin with stats well into the thousands. Elixers were win in this game and there was no limit to how powerful a character could get. Wish more games were that way. They just don't make em like this anymore.

Either warrior or monk. The thief sucks, and the mage is easily killed, + if you're playing with the latest patch, the mage sucks too because of the casting delays they introducted.

Beat the game as both Monk and Warrior a little while ago, and it was a good suggestion to start off as one of those. although I have to disagree on the thief sucking, because I played and beaten the game as the thief, he isn't that bad. just give him berserker, reflections, a good throwing weapon, and a healing spell and he'll do just fine. I kicked draak's ass with no problems at all as the thief.

You've got to go onto GameSpy Arcade and wait if you want to play some MP. I used to play the PC version with a friend so I had many hours grouping up and its quite fun. Another good oldie was Lionheart: Legacy of the Crusader for online play, its on GSA as well.

Find all seven crystals, combine them to form the time orb. With the time orb, you can defeat Draak, which is the point of the game. Simple as that!

this game was also made for the playstation and alot of PS1 games had a glitch that let you listen to the sound on a cd player(try poping twisted metal four into one and skipping a few track ahead)

Yes, I was in shock at the graphics at the time I recorded this. That's why I immediately go the options and verify that dithering is on. But today I can play this game with 16xAA SuperSampling and 16xQAF without any lag, and that makes it look much better than back in 2000!

Awesome game, I couldn't agree more. Really nice sense of atmosphere. Unfortunately it has some serious balance issues, between classes and at high difficulty levels. Hence I soon switched to Diablo II. ;)

This game is such a fun little time killer. And funny as hell sometimes! I love how the male Warrior's voice sounds all noble and such,and yet he screams like a little girl when near death, "Please, help!!"
