Dad (82nd Airborne) now has old age memory loss. But as his short-term faculty wanes, his long-term memory now yields memories long suppressed. It is as if knows he must transfer them to others before they leave with him and are lost. Some are sad and horrific; others stirring and beautiful. On. brothers and sisters, hug them tight, and when they start to pull away as men are want to do, bid them stay in your arms and say, "You don't have to be strong alone anymore, we can do that together."
67 years ago today On the morning of the 6th of June my father was among the first wave to attack the Beach code named UTAH. Thank you daddy and ALL who gave of themselves on that Day of DAYS!!
I watched this with tears streaming down my face. These brave, brave young men! And I wonder again, what did my beloved daddy(Navy) see that he could never relate to us? What horrors did he remember when he sat in his chair at times with such a sad, faraway look in his eye? To him and to all ..I thank you. I know I will NEVER forget!
God bless them , their valor , courage, and honor will never be forgotten.
