The mount is a good product but if you order one expect the color to not be MS. I ordered OD and got something so green it look liked my dog ate some grass. Just ordered one in Blk hoping it will be as described.
I have a 16 BCM and I installed a a 9inch VTAC (Troy) TRX BattleRail. I installed the short rail in the 9'o'clock position and want to install a light mount. Can I still put the VTAC light mount upside down or does it only go one way, like the way it is installed on the video?
im wondering if i could mount this on a nordic components barrel/mag tube clamp for a shotgun on the rail there. since this mount drops the light straight off the side i dont know if it would interfere with the mag tube and not work since if its mounted to a normal quad rail on the side there is nothing below it that could get in its way. can you shed some light on this?
@invisibleink64 I have one very similar on my 870 from Remington, it looks the same as the Nordic version so you should be good to go. If it doesn’t work, let us know. If it does work, please take a picture once it is mounted.
Kyle, I'm thinking about buying the VTAC L4+mount from your site for my rifle. I currently have a surefire X300. Will there be a big difference between the two light setups? I don't want to spend that much money if there wont be a significant upgrade.
I have a S&W M&P 15T with those heavy 10" troy rails, so my rifle is noticeably heavier in the front. My prior weapon light setup was a Surefire 6p with a VLTOR offset scout mount. I decided on the VTAC with G2 combo to lessen weight and it feels alot lighter in the front now. I realized I didn't need a QD light mount, really for what, added weight and additional cost? I can carry the wrench in my pistol grip if need be . Great product. Jeff
BTW Do you know how many ounces this mount weighs?
I'm currently running a Pentagon L2 LED in that mount but I was looking at going to a Streamlight Strion LED or the new Streamlight Polytac light. Will they be good to go?
We are working on a new insert that will allow our mount to be used with all of these lights. Currently the mount works with Executive series size lights, .80 and works with 1 inch lights, after removing the provided spacer. We should soon have the spacer that will allow any light from .80 all the way to 1.0 to work.
Our light mount doesn't compare to the KZ gear at all. Ours fits all Picatinney rails, the KZ will not fit most rails since you have to slide it from one end or the other. Once an extrusion die wears out the rails are slightly larger and this type of mount will not fit.
Our mount also works with 1 inch and slightly larger lights as well as lights that are .80 such as Surefire's Executive series. If your light is .8 or 1 inch, you should be good.
I just picked up a SureFire P6 LED and this mount, I must say I love it. I use it on the top left of my rail since that is how I hold my gun, it is much better set up higher then a standerd mount that would put it on the left rail..
I dont broomstick my FVG so that is why I like it in that area rather then low right..
can this be used for left handers? My guess is yeah. It amazes me how many products and manufactures there are out there and never mention if there product is ambi or not.
I bought one of these light mounts and really like it. My only complaint is that it doesn't mount square on a picatinny rail. Hard to explain without a closeup shot, but It bends outwards. It's sort of visible in the video clip. Seems like the plastic portion resting on the picatinny rail should have been made a little bit longer.
It was actually made to do that, once it makes the slight twist it locks the screws in place. Initially we made these from aluminum, but it could not handle the torque and once it was bent it never regained its shape. The glass filled nylon allows the mount to have a slight flex with no memory.

@firegardn77 You will see a difference. It is a lot of money but I like the fact that it is also more ergonomic.
Can't gaurentee you will like it but most do.

Jeff,
In the video where I am shooting I have YHM Phantom Flash Hider.
During installation I am using a Surefire Suppressor Adapter that is also a Flash Hider.
Hope you like the Videos.

Great video, thanks. Also how does this compare to the KZ OFM Offset Flashlight Mount? Will a Fenix TK11 R2 be able to fit?

What optic and mount is that?
boyfat1997 2 years ago
Boyfat
The Optic during the discussion is an Aimpoint Comp M4 with its own mount. The one I am shooting is an EOTech with the mount built in.

will this mount work with an Olight M20 warrior? Slightly under 1" diameter.....
nickanto 2 years ago
Nick
If it is slightly under 1 the mount should work. What is the exact diameter of the light?
Kyle

.98"

Nick,
On further review, that won't work with our mount.

Yes sir the mount will work on both sides of the weapon and will accept lights from either end.
Can even be mounted on the bottom rail if need be.
