  • This guy also owns the 36' Lincoln Zephyr rat I filmed on my profile..

  • how fast you was?

    It looks fast! ;D

  • Gotta love cruisin

  • Cool! GET"R"DONE & Keep it between the ditches!

  • I don't believe I've ever seen an old coupe chopped and channeled this much.

  • There were a lot of aftermarket multiple carb intakes for the flatheads, notably the Offenhauser. They invariably ran the Stromberg 97 carbs. But I've never seen anything quite like this manifold. Looks to be some adaptation of the long ram high rises Chrysler was playing with in the 60s.

  • what is this car called?

  • Ok, I sure thought it was long for a flathead.

  • @slowpokebr549 If youwant to see long, check out a Lincoln V-12 sometime. I believe the Auburn made a V-24 in the mid-late 30s - now that's long!

  • hard to get a good look, I only count four wires though. Still looks awful long to me.

  • Yeah it is a Ford flatty... but its the bigger 337 from a '49 Lincoln, much larger than the more popular 8BA style.

  • @39LIMEY Very hard to find the Lincoln flathead, even back in the day. You must have used the Zephyr gears too - the Ford transmission wouldn't take that torque.

  • Block looks too long to be a flathead ford, I think it is a Cadillac 12.

  • It's a flat head ford. 3 exhaust runners, and notice the cooling hoses coming straight up, and forward to the radiator.

  • @slowpokebr549 the Caddy and LaSalle had flatheads , but the exhaust exited out up by the intake manifold. Flat Fords had three pipes out the side like this one has.

  • lol mabe he was driving it to the dumb ha ha ha ha shita!

  • Talk about back seat drivers! The State H.P. must be building that thing with you on the weekends.

  • nice rat

  • What?! Bwahahahhahahahhaha ! Ok "bbrand" whatever ,hahahaha oh brother !

  • whoever fuckin says fail is a faggot. go home you nerd

  • Way cool. Wish she was mine!

  • nice touch having the exhaust poke out

  • wowee wawazat!!!!! awesome ride!!! old school fosho!!!

  • Fail.

  • nice motor sounds like a german bomber plane

  • First off...it wasn't built for you, but I am willing to bet the owner would smile from ear to ear to find your so annoyed by it.

    and yes...it's way beyond cool

  • Felicitacions no me canso de ver este video muy bueno!!!

  • A beauty.

    Keep the rods alive forever.

  • real car, real motor, real tires, real seats, real steering wheel. all on a "reaL car of the good past.

heck even fans where made better back then. same with motorcycles. pilot a 1930-40"s german army motorcycle like steve mcqueen rode in the great escape. pure real machines.

  • Flatheads for life!!

  • Sick Ass Rod!!

  • it would be legal here in tennessee..i own a couple..

  • Where was this?

  • In the UK near Oxford!

  • Awesome ! Seemed to me that it wasn't easy to overtake ..... and I love the way the driver's seat is set far back, or is that my imagination ? Either way, cool car , legal or not, who cares ? It puts a smile on people's faces, well, maybe not everybody, but you try wiping mine off of my face : -) Anna.

  • Street legal?

  • if you mean can it out run the cops, yes. without a fucking sweat.

  • What a cool machine. I love it

  • Nope - That's not from "Hot Rod Lincoln" That's the end of the song "Hot Rod Race" by Jimmy Dolan - 1951 Damn cool song about a race between a hot rod Ford & a souped up Mercury.. but in the end they both get beat by a kid in a hopped up Model A "Yeah, just a hopped-up Model A " It's meant to be ironic & funny, because the Ford & the Merc that race in the song were both V8-powered cars, yet in the end they both get beat by a 4-cylinder Model A
  • Well i looked in th mirror n I saw somethin comin,

thought it was plane by the way it was a-runnin,

hummin along at a terrible pace

an I knew right then it was the end of the race.

When he flew by us I turned the other way

and the guy in the Mercury had nothin to say..

For it was a kid, in a hopped up Model A..

Yeah, just a hopped up Model A...

  • is this from the clampets lol... its sad that i remember that

  • is it a flat head V6?

  • Its a flathead V8 valve in block, the two center valves use a common port to exit the block... hence only three exhaust ports per side!

  • thank you lol never knew that

  • so do you own both cars if not

    your racing someone!

    heheh

  • Nice video.. Thanks.

  • Very cool car. I could drive that for days.

  • welding school and rat rods are the shit nuf said!!

  • Looks cool but seems slow to me. Best way to make a Ford fast is take the motor off and put a chevy in it. I would take that motor off and put one of my corvette motors in it.

  • That thing is amazing, my dream car...maybe with a 572 if I ever win the lottery

  • 572 boo put a real engine in it like a flathad or an inline 6.

  • ohh ya a 572 stock with 750hp is not a real engine at all huh, you keep your inline 6 and have fun with that, while I fly past you with my 572

  • and then watch that tiny frame twist as you fly past and you wreck your rod. good luck surviving that. i bet you would also want a stereo system in the trunk.

what does a 572 and a barbie doll have in common? they both come out of a box!!! get your girly emo hands dirty and build something REAL, Mr Atreyu1611.

  • Hahahahaha!

  • thats why you box the frame, and believe me that 572 will be my stereo...won't even be able to hear you as I fly by with open headers...and actually it's a crate, and the funny thing is I'm an apprentice mechanic right now and my hands can barly be clean, so get off your computer and stop reading about cars and start working on them

  • box the frame? did you get that off the show American Hotrod? listen son, i've fixed and rebuilt more engines than you have probably creamed your tight emo jeans over while browsing youtube.

and FYI a crate is a wooden box. i think you should go back to school and doi drugs with your emo friends.

  • Last engine I rebuilt was 440 bored over, with high comp pistons and a high performance cam, Timing gears, High rise intake with a blower to top it off..I have been building engines/working on cars for almost 10 years now, and where the fuck do you get I'm an emo you stupid fuck, unlike you I can't wear tight jeans cuz I actually have something in between my legs..I'm a fucking metal head so get it right, done school and I have no emo friends so looks like your comment went to shit pretty quick

  • i bet all those 440 parts were brand new out of a catalogue. try carrying an oxy-acetylene outfit through a farmers field only to drag back a rusted rear axle out of a 47 powerwagon.

calm down and stop swearing. its only youtube bud, you can win em all. and if you want to be known as a metalhead. dont use an emo band for your username... emo emo emo muahaha

  • well I'm sorry I'm not some farmer like you, but I have actually just finished a welding school where we had to do acetylene cutting, not in some hick as farm so I know all the different sides of it, I used to work in a junkyard so I know all about hack jobs and going to collect car parts

  • lol youre still talking!

been to school much i see? i now can see where you got your love of emo. a hick, farmer, fag like me must seem pretty stupid because i dont mention my education on youtube. but i have the balls to let anyone post on my profile without having to approve for insecurity purposes. emo emo emo emo emo ahaha

  • sounds like you dont know shit about what your talking about what type of blower was it running then?

  • We had topped it off with a twin screw supercharger, with a Holley 175 Blower, with a 12lb pulley to get 7-8lbs boost...anything else you wann know...or did I confuse you

  • Umm a supercharger IS a blower so you wouldn't have "a twin screw supercharger WITH a Holley 175 blower".You don't seem to have done as much as you have copied from a magazine lol

  • wait i missed this 1 your an apprentice mechanic but youve been building motors for 10 years sounds like bs to me...

  • yes you know it's possible to work on cars before you go to school, I started help work on cars in grade 8 all the way through highschool and into my apprenticeship program, so yes 10 years

  • not the USA, Australia?

  • In the UK! :-)

  • uuuhh yeah, takes whats american and beat'em

  • Damn!! Flathead can scoot!! Nice vid.

  • 5 stars and an "atta Boy!" to the builder!!!!

  • Flathead ford FTW!!!!

Flatheads are underrated just as much as SBC's are overrated

  • I love flatheads!

350 SBC are over used, not really over-rated.

They're popular because of their versatility.

Me? I'll stick to my 396 BBC!

  • thats a flathead ya goofy guy

  • i'm suprised, only a v6.

  • Its a flathead V8 valve in block, the two center valves use a common port to exit the block... hence only three exhaust ports per side!

  • aahhh, thats quite interesting, ta for that.

  • christ thats low!

  • not low enough.

  • ohhh goodness that thing is sexxy

  • rat rods rule!!! kustom kulture

  • whoa.. looks like that thing rolled outta hell!

  • Great sound. But I'm thinking that rod could be capable of something like 150mph? Don't fancy taking evasive on those ol' skinnies! :-O

    ;-)

  • I mean ...Thats the way it's done!!! Hot Damn!

  • why are you calling me a dumbass? people theese days wow..

  • cool, my dad had one of those. selled it thou, for alot! :D

  • you cant get anybetter sound than a flathead :]

  • thats scary!

  • That hot rod that "sounds like a plane" just took you lol. Nice Video

  • love rat rods

  • omg thats amazing its so fucking fast

  • this car is freakin wild. just plan nutty and badass

  • that looks good

  • Straight out of the TV show The Munsters. Looks like something grandpa would design lol.

  • you know you have arrived when you sit as far back in the cabin as possible...bitchin!

  • this reminds me of the song hot rod lincoln!!!

'he says hes seeing spots well its because the lines on the road look just like dots'

  • The light poles look like a picket fence!

  • nice Rat rod! :D

  • That's the point.

  • if you built it

    nice job

  • wasnt that jimmy shine's car?

  • Haha i don't think he'd be seen in this one :-)

  • hahah. it actuall sounds like a prop plane passing. gorgeous. wish i could have seen the cherry car taking the vid.

  • it´s to low i like high boys

  • that's low even lower than glconet

  • That a model A? Looks like you're in Limey land. Where you off to? Billing or something? Or just out for a blast?

  • As it happens we was on our way to Billing until the Law decided otherwise :-)

    good guess!

  • What did the Law have against that? Looks perfectly reasonable transport to me. I've been to Billing for the past 3 years, bloody good show. Shame I can't get insured on a V8 Model A or something...

  • The cop gave it all the no windscreen bs & fly's in your eyes bollox, we should have mentioned Land Rovers with folding screens & motorcycles have the same problem but didn't want to aggrivate the situation, sometimes its better to say yes officer you know everything.

  • Yep - because he knew everything, that made the copper a COMPLETE CNUT ;) ;)

  • It infuriates me the way these young arrogant idiots are given the badge of the law and try to tell everyone whats right and whats not, half the time they are guessing (i should know I work with coppers everyday!)

  • A pity it wouldn't be able to get over speed bumps! Pretty cool though.

  • I think rat rods are the missing link between art cars and hot rods. Yes?

  • It needs a dead rat in a rat trap and a Skull to make it perfect. And it needs a giant shifter with a piston for a handle coming out of the top of the car!! Awesome!!!

  • Look at the headers dumpin soot on the door, thats what hardcore rodz are all about, blood, sweat, and tears.

  • u did a good job of holding the camera while going that fast.

  • sick lookin car man!

love to have one of those

  • what was u drivin???

  • '39 coupe :-)

  • very disrespectful!, that is a classic, oh man to just be cruisin down the road wit the wind in my hair, and my butt in a rod!

  • are you kidding?

  • ...er..that's kind of the point of a Rat Rod! ;)

  • wow, what an absolutely ridiculous looking rat rod! absolutely awesome haha :D

  • That's a rat rod,but still gr8!

  • cool to see it where it belongs....on the road running. cool vid. 5 stars.

  • can't believe it! so beautiful.

  • yee haa look at the flathead haul awsome video

  • wow thats one hell of a car! i'd love to have one just like it!

  • yea but they are driving it on british road

  • rare to see one in britain

  • It's probably because we're overrun with speed bumps and potholes. You couldn't drive it round here... well you could, but you'd cry a lot.

  • @arudge69 There are loads of them in the UK, just go to the Hayride..

  • ctyboy2008,if your so hooked on russia, hop the next plane to russia and fuck off. At age 23 you have no idea what you are even looking at,much less the history of AMERICAN HOT RODS !

  • Ditto smoothie ditto!

  • that's the coolest fkin car i ve ever seen

  • commie

  • As Martha would say,...."It's a good thing"

  • That my friends is the epoitme of cool!

  • its called a RatRod, i guess you could call it the poor mans hotrod except its not cheap

  • you need to be a vampire to drive such a car

  • Who needs Fenders? pfft yeah right.

  • motherf''ker! U cant get any cooler than that. Want a rod like that, really. really bad.

  • Very cool!

  • wat were u drivin?

  • 39 Ford coupe :-)

  • Older. Maybe 31'. It's a Rat Rod ! Very popular. No rules in what you put together. Many older speed parts from years ago.

  • no ur rite, its a flat head v8

  • Yeah its the big Lincoln 337ci

  • Lincoln 337 flathead ? Looks like a FORD 337truck engine to me. Runs like one too. The 337 Lincoln engine in a 1949 to 1951 Lincoln car ran a lot better than this rat rod ! Nice to see a 337, wither it be a Ford truck, industrial, (1943 to 1951 ) or Lincoln engine in a " A-V8 " hot rod.

  • Definately a Lincoln 337 i've known the '49 Cosmopolitan it came out of for over 20 yrs, 337 truck motor is the same animal! They probably did run better in '49 but 59 yrs later & never been rebuilt yes its worn out.

Just been rebuilt with some hard to find speed equipment & sounds pretty good.

  • Am I crazy or the car is powered by a Flathead

    Ford V-8???

  • Siiiick. I want one!

  • I like how the exhausts leave that sooty residue on the side of the hotrod, such a machine

  • rat rod

  • That is one cool video!!!!

  • this is sum mean sh!t bro!! c0ol!

  • This is from England?!

  • Sure is...

  • Awesome..

  • sweet , where's the power

  • Looks cool but how can you see infront of you?

  • Arkie Shibley went so hard! So does this rod!

  • perfect place to drive

  • Beautiful, I like the rough look of rat rods. Has a great sound, and it was really cruisin' for a while there.

  • Low N Loud Just the way god intended them to be.....two thumbs up and 5 stars man...Badass ride.

  • Beauty in it's raw form =)

  • Now thats channelled! Well cool great vid.

  • SWeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet......ummh, sorry but I liked it.

  • "son you're gonna drive me to drinkin"

  • what year is the car the camera is in..looks like a 1940 ford or simialr?

  • 39 std still runnin a flathead too! ;-)

  • very nice..i just bought a 1940 ford p/u with original flatheard and tranny...i believe someone has changed the gear ratio in the rearend though.. 50-55 mph tops ... what gear ratio are you running? i'm thinking about changing mine. thx
