Mary-Kate is more of the woman scorned - I'm not sure how it was in the book because I never got around to reading it, but Kyle invites Kendra to a dance/party/something or other and basically humiliates her, and she puts a curse on him as revenge.

I agree that movies can't be expected to be carbon copies, and that sometimes characters appearances don't always have to be the same, BUT The story isn't there. From what I've seen in the trailers this movie will destroy the meaning of the book. I doubt they will even clearly express all of the compassion he gains just from taking care of roses. . This is going to be a Twilght or a Blood and Chocolate. Nothing good will come of it. Everyone needs to go read the book.

i'm not bitter. i just don't see vanessa as this character and yes, there are a lot of movies that don't go by the book but there are certain elements to this book that need to be kept for it to have the same effect. the hair thing, i can get over that, but vanessa is too pretty to be considered low class.

You have to be realistic, its not about making something entirely original, its about profits.

Trailers are just part of the movie.... and trailers do not tell the whole story... so better wait for the movie...

the movie is different from the book as always!
There are always changes when they turn books to movies! Harry Potter, jurassic Park and etc! So its expected that the movie will have slight difference!

One, Kyle is supposed to be FOURTEEN not 18 or whatever, and Lindy is suppoesed to be a redhead! They are ruining this book! (even if I do love Vannessa, she's wrong for this part)

so pissed that vanessa is playing in this movie. first off, she's supposed to be a red head with freckles. vanessa = no red hair, no freckles. and i wish the kyle had HAIR like in the book.
this is my fave book and i'm glad they're making a movie but... vanessa in it pissed me off.
but, neil patrick harris as will is right on the mark!

you vanessa haters really need to get over yourselves. vanessa will be getting A LOT more roles and it's just going to keep eating you up inside. stop being so bitter. and PLEASE, this is not the first time characters have been different in a movie than in the book. so why are you trying to make a big deal out of nothing? i'm not bitter. i just don't see vanessa as this character and yes, there are a lot of movies that don't go by the book but there are certain elements to this book that need to be kept for it to have the same effect. the hair thing, i can get over that, but vanessa is too pretty to be considered low class.
and who knows, maybe she'll pull of the role perfectly but until then, i will keep my dislike for her.

I understand she doesn't look like a "nerd" but she probably acted great so that's why they picked her for the role. and it was probably hard to find a good actress for this role, with red hair, AND freckles. (OMG! LINDSAY LOHAN WOULD HAVE BEEN PERFECT FOR THIS ROLE.) but she's not a redhead anymore and yeah..

i not going to say she's ugly. i admit that she's pretty but she's too pretty for the character. linda is supposed to be very low class and i can't see vanessa as such. but like i said before, the hair and stuff doesn't bother me that much just that she doesn't look as low as she should.
plus, i'm a writer and i wouldn't like it if someone messed up my main character's details, so that's just me.

but remember, the producers buy all rights from the author, so they can change what they want and there's nothing we can do about that..

yeah but an author still has a right to tell them not to change the characters. stephanie meyer did that for new moon. she asked them to please make it more closer to the book as possible this time.

yes she can. it's her book that they chose and she has every right to tell them what to keep and what not to keep. yes it may be the directors choice on certain things but when they conflict with things in the book, the author can step in and say something

There are a few things that they are gonna chance, for example the "beast" in the book has a lot of hair, and in the movie he doesn't....

Beastly is such a great book. :C Not written by a crazy unskilled lovesick woman. I read this over the summer and I was as mad as hell when I saw this. Mary-kate? VANESSA? Get a red head for Lindy, GOD!

i don't see how this movie sounds like twilight. it's annoying to hear when ppl compare one book or movie to something else entirely different. they just like to make twilight seem better or worse than other books or movies. let's give this movie a chance. i myself wanna get around to reading Beastly before it comes out next year.

Ok to all those people (I myself am included) that read books, then hollywood makes them into movies, this is something you have to deal with. The movies almost always suck compared to the book. I hate the Horse whisperer movie, harry potter, twilight etc. The list goes on, you just learn to deal with it and if you have such a problem don't watch it at all!!!! You have to be realistic, its not about making something entirely original, its about profits.
