@Aberman96 You should try shortening your rope. Once you get the wakejump down at the shorter rope length then add the next section and so on...also make sure you are using a wakeboard specific rope.
@MrOscar94 I'm learning to switch a lot so I can start do my 180's soon. I'm coached by an awesome wakeboarder and he said that it's kinda important because you can't make 180's without being able to ride your with your wrong foot. But I guess that depends on what trick you wanna start out with first, but 180 is a simple trick.
Most people go out until it's about 49 degrees, you can get a wetsuit to keep you warm. And your skin doesn't sting. But after 40 you usually have to winterize your engine.
Great beginner video...I just started wakeboarding and am working to cross both wakes when jumping.. but its hard since I don't have a tower. If only money grew on trees...
@ineedajob555 the intro is about the failure and pain your going to go through to become a half decent rider.
No pain, no gain. Be Relentless in your goals.
I love wakeboarding but I still havnt got good air off the wake.
I don't have a tower on the boat which doesn't help but this guy is awesome, i listened to him before going out on the boat last month and i did manage a couple of small jumps.
@CelticSilurianTribe yeh my boat doesnt have a wakeboard tower we didnt rely have enough money to add one on. But yeh it is alot harder. But ive practiced so much on these wakejumps and i finally can jump the wake easily heelside. Toeside is so much harder but im trying to get better
This really helped! I can jump but I did it totally different. Thats why I didnt get good air. Now, Im just gonna go, Im not gonna be scared, im just gonna go real fast then BOOM!!!!!! Thanks for the vid!
@skateboardnow 55 60 think width of wake to wake to i got cable rope with extensions works like a charm 0% strecth bout 110 $ at west marine but find em anywhere
iam a girl and ihave a hyperlite Jade 129 board..ijust got it last winter, so this past summer was the first time ihave used it.iam tryin to jump to jump the whole wake from the right side on my heal side.iget some air but iam not getting alot and enough to jump the entire wake.ican only get halph way.wat am i doin wrong
I wakeboard behind a rib with a very small messed up wake and no tower but u can still get some crazy jumps if you hit it right. I learnt you never have to charge to clear the wake. If you hit it slowly and focus on trying to get the perfect pop you will get it
I was wondering if anyone can help me out i have a tohoe boat with a waketower on it and i dont thinkg im getting as high as i could. i read in wake magazine that people ride at like 20 mph but that just seems to slow but when i go faster sometimes it just seems to fast... i also don't know what rope length is best. i've tried full lenght and a way shorter rope but at a slower speed. the wake seems bigger and i think i get more height. Any tips???
I would recommend going around 18-19, shortening the rope around 2-4 feet (tie a loop down the line a bit and I am also assuming you use a 45-50 foot rope) and determining your results from there. As you get more comfortable, I would go back to the original length and then from there increase the speed.
does it make it easier with a wakeboard tower? i get about 3/4 across the wake and when i get really high i can feel myself being pulled down...i board behind a regal 2200 with a little pop up ski pylon - goes about 3 inches up
Yes it does. The tower puts ur rope higher which makes it alot easier to gain high. It basically pulls you up. The distance of your jumps wont matter with the tower.
ya start off doing 22-23 eventually ride ur self up to 25-26 the faster the boat the harder ur edge will be with less effort, also remember to extend at the top of the wake, l, put all ur force and pressure down into the water, youll get some serious pop, also with your approach if u dont feel liek the boat is throwing u at the wake ur not cutting hard enough like he said cut slow and lean back keep tension on the rope even in the air use the ropes tension for balance in the air
ok so my problem is when I jump, I'm just not going high/far enough...my rope is attached to the back of the boat on the bottom. No tower. I watched the vid but if anyone has any tips or w/e that they think might be helpfull let me know.
I ride without a tower or pylon as well and have no problem making it w2w. My guess is you arent committing and keeping your edge all the way through they wake. The other option is to shorten the rope so you ride at a narrower part of the wake making it easier to jump the span.
A normal rope is 75ft long. I dunno what connorr is talking about but only pros ride longer than 75ft. Making it shorter is easier to new riders. I ride at about 65ft.
it can vary from 70 to 90 feet but it should be closer to 90 because you want to be out at the highest point of the wake for the biggest jump. the highest point will be wherre white wash is starting to form on the top of the wake
not at all bud the only thing u can carry over is the fact your comfortable on board with ur feet strapped in other than that, cutting turning balance psoture is completely different, u have to learn to go comfortable with the boats speed and not your own liek when u start riding theres no pausing slwoing down for certain tricks, jumping is way different you lock ur knees to jump a wake where as a snowbaord you give alittle ollie for some pop, way different youll like though!
I weigh about 58 kilos, and i have a boat that does 23 knots... the hard part is going out of the water, but if you start lined up with the boat, the boat will get some speed before pulling you up.. remember to keep the rope tight.. Send me a message if you don't understand what im talking about =)
hey nice vid... but wat length rope do u think i need, how fast should the boat be traveling and should i leave the additional fins on the bottom or take them off!!!
Hey great video your a great wakeboarding teacher i wakeboard too and i was wondering if you could look at some of my videos and give some pointers thanks! again great stuff!
thx a lot dude, the day before yesterday i landed my first wake2wakes and now im going to work on extra pop, but with this help, im sure it wont take long
hey, i ride on a corect craft professinal watter ski boat, it has a low tie point witch makes it harder to get air, what kinda boat to u sugest i buy?
It depends on how fast you are going, how big your wake is, and where the best spot is on your specific boat wake. At 2:54 it pauses for a second. You can see too far back gives you a wake that is curling over (your rope would be too long) and closer to the boat the wake rolls off at the top (not enough pop and height to the wake) In general there is about a 10 foot section in between this where you get a good wake.
