It's not just forwards who are becoming more agressive, it's the sport as a whole. Keepers, defenders, and mids are all pulling cheap shots these days. I'm out with a concussion that was caused by one a dirty play right now and it sucks. I went up for a header, was blindsided by a defender, landed on my head and was knocked out for a couple minutes. Referees really need to start cracking down on excessively dangerous play to change soccer to how it used to be: the beautiful game.

I understand this was her second concussion, the other in baseball -and a third one will remove her from HS play. Josh (below) makes a good point. tt isn't just the forwards who are behaving aggressively. What I've seen is that aggressive play from the forwards can cost a foul card and turnover, but a foul from a defender can cause a PK in front of the box!

Aggression as a substitute for talent is usually driven by a 'win at all costs' mentality. Wonder where that attitude came from?

I know exactly what you mean! As you move up age divisions and into higher leagues the game gets a lot more physical! As a goalie your also always at risk of injuring yourself. The other two goalies on my team are injured. One suffered a broken nose and laceration, but the other completely broke her tibia and fibula when going for a ball. I remember she passed out on the field o.O

Goalie is a dangerous position!!

@lenavitzthum Nope no call at all! Our HS coach is lame beyond words and sits on his hands,...doing nothing,...big promises are made by the referee assoc. (CHASSA) that does these games then nothing happens. The parents don't speak up because they don't want to make waves and possibly loose plying time for their girls.

The girls end up with serious injuries as did mine a year later, loosing her entire senior year,...same do nothing coach.

haha been there i got knocked unconcious though it sucked its dangerous being a goalie especially for varsity iv had so many injuries this season haha

Ouch , u were knocked unconcious! This goalie is one tough girl, so she had to be hurtin'. I've seen in a lot of videos, forwards are substituting aggression for talent, or a kick get's by them and they try to barrel on thru to make up for the miss, like here, #8 goes barrelling into the goalie cleats up, then 12 comes in and kicks her in the head. The injuries from this kinda lame soccer just aren't worth it! Ref strolls on by like nothing happened!
