can someone please help me? okay so when i am introduced to an object or word or sound i imidietley subconsciously give it a personality, folor and shape but i do not see see the color or shape. and whenever i look at something i see a shape thats a color and it morphs, but it has nothing to do with whats around me. is it possible i have it? thanx
@twiandhamlover12 yea totally i read in a book about someone who gives numbers personalities and you don't exactually have 2 c it i think but go to a doctor to be sure o and here r some common things ppl who have synthesis have: they r left-handed, bad at math, love music and art, good at spelling, and c the calendar in a cool way thats different from other ppl
I did a summer school at a university on a music course; Synesthesia was a topic we covered. We got told a story about one of Mozart's famous symphonies he performed. There was a woman in the audience who was totally blind, and after the performance she went to see Mozart. She described it as a huge blue circle, with one tiny orange dot in the middle. Mozart later went over his work and found one wrong note carelessly placed in the flute section. Whether or not this is true is anybody's guess.
I "see" taste and and touch sounds, and I feel a time distortion when that happens... this is only in episodes, it's so weird when people asks about it I can't explain it, the fact it's only at times made me feel I was going crazy. Never used durgs, I don't smoke and I don't drink. It's weird, very weird, like living in a whirpool of senses, I never loose conciousness but I guess that makes it even worse. Maybe somebody can relate?
@mcrorfggta159 same here, and it's the common color for the letter across all those who have reported having letter-color synesthesia. Although, I might completely disagree with you on other letters (and numbers) lol
I see letters, words, and numbers in color...but when remembering someone's name I don't think of the color. I think/hear their name in my head, it's just a particular color. Also, numbers/letters have personalities to me. I don't know if that has anything to do with synesthesia...but my cousin and I both feel the same way (about colors/numbers being colors/having personalities). Yeah...slightly hard to explain. I doubt that made sense. I also see years on a timeline in my head...
@kurtywurty85 I have letters/numbers-colors synesthesia as well...and somewhat of the same personality links to the letters/numbers (although probably not as strong as you may describe). For example, 4 is black and is masculine/quiet, while 7 is green and feminine/dominant
@2snappedshins Haha for me 4 is somewhat brown, slightly tan and is kind of the wise guy that everyone forgets about and 7 is green for me too and she's somewhat ditzy. It's so weird to actually type that out, I mean it sounds completely insane but...cool ;)
@kurtywurty85 i know lol. my brother and I both have synesthesia (and the same type), while our parents don't. They still can't understand what the heck we see!

It sure makes math easier, though. Equations are like colorful puzzles for me to solve
@2snappedshins Haha yeah...I hate math. I'm convinced that I'm just not a math person because if I was truly committed to using this to help with math, I'd be much better at it. However, I am a master at spelling tests ;)
@kurtywurty85 Lol for me, #2 is yellow and blonde. She seems to be the wild one and 5 is that mean old teacher that hits other people with her ruler LOL and 5 is dark brown

Like I feel like it must say something about me, or the way that I see things in life. Idk how to explain and I'm probably overthinking this haha
@kurtywurty85 Yeah it may say something about how we see things in life...but idk lol. Numbers just have these looks to them that just gives you random personalities. and yeah I always see 5 as the masculine female..like butchy and stuff haha! and 5 would be more of a dark red to me. 4 Is Orange for me and she's the cute adorable one that everyone loves, she also likes daisies lol.
@kurtywurty85 Haha yeah 5 is the butchy woman to me too. I always see 5 as that masculine lady lol. but yeah i think that it does actually tell us something bout how we percieve things in life...idk lol.

I keep confusing sound with sight or scent. But only when I have to talk about it. Like I'll say "That's smells terrible!" to a harsh sound. Yeah, it gets weird... o_O

I have the color grapheme synestheia. Some actual examples would be an image of a football team, a young Mexican boy, a woman with bad teeth, the color green and the color red. Not the sound of the music itself, but the actual piano keys in which I keep flubbing.

@ThereminWeirdo No... I've never experimented in that field of interest/study... OLP does nothing for me. It's the personification of numbers, letters, weekdays, months, and even periodic tables! For me Mondays are red because "M: is red and in the most cases words takes colors from their firs letter.
Btw. Monday is "Poniedziałek" in Polish and though "P" is white, the word "Poniedziałek" is blue... cosfusing, isn't it ? Someone have those kind of... "problems" ? ;)
For me sunday is blue, monday's yellow, tuesday is lime green, wednesday is bright orange, thursday is navy blue, friday's black, and saturday is dark purple..Also the #s and letters have colors. Some people's name's have colors to me too
@selenaroxursox1 yea i thought this was just a way my brain processed information for when i studied...like how some ppl use weird rhymes or songs to remember word definitions. btw, how do the numbers appear to you? I like to ask other synesthesiacs (sp?) what they see. I tend to see "1" as red; 2 as blue; 3 as yellow; 4 as black; 5 as green, and so forth
@I752009 No, sunday is black, Monday is yellow, Tuesday is light blue, Wednesday is red, Thursday is green, Friday is light brown, and Saturday is orangish red!
@Girlfromthemoon12 No way! Sunday is yellow, Monday is green, Tuesday is blue, Wednesday is yellow-gold, Thursday is purple, Friday is red and Saturday is white like 1 :D
@shin1300 If someone had synesthesia and smoked marijuana, chances are nothing would happen unless their brains associated the smell or sensation of smoking with something else. For example, if their brain saw a color at the scent of the marijuana, just like it might at the scent of cookies baking. The mental effects of the marijuana would doubtfully have an effect on the synesthesia any more than anything else.
I don't know if pot ever produces synesthesia in people who smoke it, but LSD often produces a temporary synesthesia. I don't know what happens if a synesthete drops acid; my guess is "the same thing that happens to anybody else," except that now perhaps even more senses become linked.
@Sarry777 you stay in the sun for too long, you get skin cancer, you breathe for 80 years near smoking people, you get lung cancer, a man gets prostate cancer for no reason...a woman inherits breast cancer.....you walk through too many x-ray machines (either by airports or CAT scans) you get cancer anywhere....seriously, here's a better question, what the fuck doesn't cause cancer? You do realize looking at artificial lighting (AKA your computer screen) for too long depletes your eye vision...
@omgwtfbbq6666 Synesthesia is a neurological condition, just like OCD or Multiple Personality Disorder are neurological conditions. Cancer is a genetic or environmentally caused disease. I haven't seen any studies saying that synesthesia makes one predisposed to cancer, although someone might be predisposed to both cancer and synesthesia due to different genetic factors :p
I don't argue but i saw letters in color. Then i had a brain tumor at the back of my head, i my Occipital lobe and when it was romoved my synesthezia had supressed a lot.
i have this too, whenever i see a pussy the thought of sex pops up lol

@sirsidali The short version-mostly yellow and green.
The long version-The S is green, and it's almost completely liquid.
The I is also sort liquidy, but yellow and brown instead.
The D is magenta. but made of stone, like it was magenta spray paint.
The A is blue, and it throws off the whole word :P
The L is mostly white (which is rare), and contains some yellow. I'm guessing it's brittle
The I is more dark than the first... less liquid, and more slop, like it's thicker,

For me Mondays are red because "M: is red and in the most cases words takes colors from their firs letter.
Btw. Monday is "Poniedziałek" in Polish and though "P" is white, the word "Poniedziałek" is blue... cosfusing, isn't it ? Someone have those kind of... "problems" ? ;)

This sounds interesting. Im not sure how many people find it hard to concentrate with it though, but it does sound really imaginative.

@selenaroxursox1 yea i thought this was just a way my brain processed information for when i studied...like how some ppl use weird rhymes or songs to remember word definitions. btw, how do the numbers appear to you? I like to ask other synesthesiacs (sp?) what they see. I tend to see "1" as red; 2 as blue; 3 as yellow; 4 as black; 5 as green, and so forth

wonder what would happened if your synesthesia and you smoke a lot of pot >:D
shin1300 1 year ago
@shin1300 If someone had synesthesia and smoked marijuana, chances are nothing would happen unless their brains associated the smell or sensation of smoking with something else. For example, if their brain saw a color at the scent of the marijuana, just like it might at the scent of cookies baking. The mental effects of the marijuana would doubtfully have an effect on the synesthesia any more than anything else.

@shin1300 hmmmm...that sounds interesting...

@shin1300
I don't know if pot ever produces synesthesia in people who smoke it, but LSD often produces a temporary synesthesia. I don't know what happens if a synesthete drops acid; my guess is "the same thing that happens to anybody else," except that now perhaps even more senses become linked.

I wouldn't be surprised if this causes cancer....which is completely and entirely possible.
omgwtfbbq6666 1 year ago
@omgwtfbbq6666 How do you figure? The two are entirely unrelated.
Sarry777 1 year ago
@Sarry777 you stay in the sun for too long, you get skin cancer, you breathe for 80 years near smoking people, you get lung cancer, a man gets prostate cancer for no reason...a woman inherits breast cancer.....you walk through too many x-ray machines (either by airports or CAT scans) you get cancer anywhere....seriously, here's a better question, what the fuck doesn't cause cancer? You do realize looking at artificial lighting (AKA your computer screen) for too long depletes your eye vision...
omgwtfbbq6666 1 year ago
@omgwtfbbq6666 Synesthesia is a neurological condition, just like OCD or Multiple Personality Disorder are neurological conditions. Cancer is a genetic or environmentally caused disease. I haven't seen any studies saying that synesthesia makes one predisposed to cancer, although someone might be predisposed to both cancer and synesthesia due to different genetic factors :p

@Sarry777
Are you saying Synesthesia is harmful? And isn't MPD called Dissociative Identity Disorder?
Shachah223 8 months ago
@omgwtfbbq6666
I don't argue but i saw letters in color. Then i had a brain tumor at the back of my head, i my Occipital lobe and when it was romoved my synesthezia had supressed a lot.
