  • I wish one day I could meet Kate Bush, Cindy Lauper and those 80's pop singers... Long life to old pop. Great memories !

  • What a song!Kate Bush and her talent is a gift to us all from the power of the universe!! That's how she makes me feel anyway.

  • she is so wonderful, so wonderful.....

  • I believe the temptation to "go to sleep" is to surrender and embrase death rather than struggling on through the night by clinging to hope and life.

  • I never understood how And Dream Of Sheep fit in The 9th Wave storyline. I always thought the story started on land somehow, but she's already in the water. 'Little light will guide them to me' - that's the light on her life jacket. She's riding along the waves, lulling herself to sleep. And then hypothermia sets in on Under Ice.

  • This song reminds me of a beautiful girl I knew. She was sad because her brother had died in a car accident. My favorite memory of her is once when we were dancing together, she told me that the night before she had dreamed of her brother. They were in a grassy meadow on a hill and there were all these sheep there, and they were laughing and playing a fun game, competing to see who could herd the most sheep together, and she smiled as she told me about that dream.

  • @garyemiller reading about that girls dream, while listening to this song.. made me feel a bit sad.

  • @garyemiller

    thank you for this comment!

    love and peace to you!

    Greetings from Berlin

  • Such a unique, beautifully mysterious talent.

  • This song makes life worth living.

  • A bombastic voice, isn't it

  • @27Troll67

    It is!!!

And the lyrics, the soul, andandand....it´s Kate, simply Kate....

  • Sounds like Happy Rhodes! Beautiful!

  • @toni7777ful HAPPY RHODES sounds like HER.

  • Kate' s so beautiful...

  • genious

  • chilling....what a beautiful voice......what a beautiful woman x

  • One of the most beautiful and talented women I have ever seen

  • 7 people can't get to sleep

  • Oh wow, does this bring back memories of a sad time in my life.

  • @Vienna7 I feel and think like you!

  • I wore out at least 5 cassettes and my vinyl record when "Hounds of Love" came out. It is the only CD I have saved onto my hard drive and I listen to it regularly. A fantastic collection of emotional songs and was her best album, although the red shoes comes a very close second. I am firmly convinced that without Kate's mould breaking work in the 70s and 80s the other female solo artists that followed her would have had a much tougher time getting taken seriously by record companies.

  • I love this too. Interesting to see her looking quite different in the various photos. Her music makes me feel life is ok again. Thanks for posting.

  • I own this album on original vinyl and on CD. And never tire of it, I will add. It's probably the finest album I own. If you have not heard it, do yourself the favor, and do so. SO amazing.

  • @NoHoiPolloi Agreed. I too own Hounds of Love on vinyl and CD. It's my personal favourite album by Kate and will stand the tests of time far better than all the commercial pap that comes out these days. Can you believe it's been 26 years ....

  • @NoHoiPolloi i got hounds of love album on cassette in sept 1986 when i was 14 years old.on side 1 of the tape after cloudbusting, running up that hill[extended version] was bonus tack on cassette-not included on vinyl or cd versions of hounds album.hounds of love is my 2nd favourite album of all times[kate bush-the dreaming being my favourite]

  • @fergusil o sorry, that should berunning up that hill not on the original version of hounds of love cd,as it was on the reissued version of hounds cd later on,along with big sky[12"]

  • Extraordinary, sublime piece of music!!!!

  • One of the things that makes life worth living. Kate and her music simply amazing.

  • One of the things that makes life worh living. Kate and her music

  • My dad uses to listen to Kate Bush and so me and my sisters (me 15, my sisters 17 & 20) are loving Kate Bush as much as he does.

I think it's impossible to compare Kate Bush with someone like Lady Gaga.

Her music raises so much emotions. I really don't know why teenagers in my age don't know her. She's brilliant.

  • She's just so beautiful and creative!

  • :)

    wow

  • Beautiful..

  • love this women she is very talented. Everytime i here her it followed by great memories my favourite album is hounds of love x

  • The Ninth Wave should have been an album in its own right.

It is irrating but addictive and that for me makes the album. When you walk down a street humming harmonies and can't fathom where they came from and then you realise where and you are suddenly surprised then the music has worked it's magic.

  • amazing

  • Lovely, for what it's worth, it's" Dream of sheep' not dreams.. :) thanks for sharing.

  • She's a gem, her voice is as beautiful as she... a lovely tribute,

    thanks for sharing.

  • There have been no one better in expressing and experimenting in pop music. Ever. All of her work is complete, endless and timeless. I`m with her from the begining, and some of her original ideas evolved through the years. She always reminds me of the importance of feminity.

  • Bless her. Blessing from the Cardinal!

  • I listened to "Hounds" over and over in 85...superb.

  • The first time I heard this song I was on a train pulling out of Clapham junction on my way to a seaside town to visit a dying relative. I was listening with earphones, and I'll never forget the stab of emotion which took me as the first spare chords rang into my soul. There's a depth of meaning to this bit of music which goes beyond the intentions of Kate and addresses something numinous

  • @assaglioli it is the perfect song to get the emotions stirred.

  • @assaglioli A sad event, but a beautiful sentiment. I completely understand what you mean.

  • @assaglioli that's so beautifully put. first time I heard this was through an equally emotion-drenched Tori Amos live cover of the song, and it shattered me. I went after the original and was even more profoundly touched. this all came to me soon after the passing of one of my grandmothers and as the other was getting ill, so I can definitely identify with what you're saying. This is an extremelly beautiful & powerful song.

  • @CCarmen Were you at the 2005 tour? I just listened to the video of it and I wondered about people in the crowd who might never have heard of Kate and I wondered how it would feel for them. The woman who was laughing at the start who was shocked by the screams :D I wonder if she knew what was going on. Also the crowd sound at the end is cut off! Not good for (what I would call) a historic moment. Did the crowd go crazy?

  • @McPrfctday VERY unfortunately, I wasn't there:-\ I live in Brazil, so the version I heard is the same one you're talking about, and I was equally bemused by the woman laughing at the start, because it became obvious she had no idea what was going on. I was already a fan of Kate, but I didn't know of that song until I've found that cover. I suppose those who were familiar with Kate's original though, did go wild. I know I would've cried my balls out had I been there though the song was new 2 me.

  • @assaglioli i could not agree with you more i am not sure what it is about this music but something touches me and i love it and it feels like a release for me when i listen to it

  • Thank you! This was really lovely!

  • A lot of comments on here are from ,i suspect from young people who dream not of sheep but to be famous for ,,,well not much hence the crack pot statements and meaningless mumbo jumbo only they need to use to try to appear cool . Kate however ,is a very gifted and spiritual person beyond these sad people ,who will never have such a gift to bless humanity with . blessed be

  • @TheWoodlandwitch I'm a witch too....and I am neither young, nor a crackpot.Sure, some (young) people may have said stuff to appear to be cool, but let it be said they at least had the class to say it about Kate's work. She is a wonder indeed,so why not let other people comment on,and appreciate her?

  • Just amazing . . . I could never tire of listening to this truly beautiful track. Genius.

  • Bloody excellent. Truly breathtaking. Well done.

  • There is no one today that can write songs with such originality, complexity, beauty and pathos.

  • I Love this song..Beautiful..Here voice is pure and brilliant!!

  • Very talented AND sexy!

  • I love you Kate :)

  • her voice reminds me of th 80's a really nice time.

  • There's something about every track on this album - like she hit a perfect moment that went through all of the songs - lovely production, imagination and tunes. They are arty yet oddly commercial. Perfect mix.

  • I love Kate Bush***

  • One of the most underated female vocalist and composer of the past century.

  • She's not really under-rated. The type of folk who under-rate the great Kate most probably are huge admirers of the talent on X Factor and America's Got Talent. Enough said.

  • You know what I mean. Kate never achieved the Diva status. Then again, what goes for Divas over the past 2 decades are tired old same ole same music. Kate Bush is a genuine artist and profoundly talented.

  • Wonderful music that has become rather rare.

  • ...let me weep....let me sleep and dream of sheep... oh yes.

  • let me be weak, she says :)

  • Thanx!

  • brilliant comment 8-)

very sorry, meant to vote you up, clicked the down thumb by mistake; don't see a way to undo it 8-(

  • yes!!! another masterful piece! :)

  • love kate. These days music isn't the same - bring back kate and bowie!

  • seriously, i can barely even listen to the radio anymore - bring back these wonderful geniuses!

  • Remind me my 20s...... nostalgie quand tu nous tiens. KB est intemporelle.

  • amazing and unique singer!! Really beautiful lady!

  • she's amazing! just discovered her about two weeks ago, and shes my new hero!

does he ninth wave suite remind anyone else of the moody blues?

  • 44 these days......used to sleep in my car to this.......24 years ago.....still love it today!!!

  • Wonderful, wonderful

  • Im 50 now, always loved her..from the early days when that wild new voice appeared on the radio, started buying all her albums. She was gorgeous then and still is now.

  • I'm 51 and feel the same but her legend carries on and my Daughter who is 20 also loves many of her records & the image. Kate will live on for generations If I have anything to do with it!

  • Indeed, I happen to know that she lives somewhere near me in Kent but I have no idea where. Id rather just remember her when I last saw her lol

  • yeah, i'm 12 and she's like my idol! I think she's beautiful, along with her music, whereas the crap they produce today, modern *music*...what is that?

  • you can still find amazing music today though... just maybe commerical music has taken a different route?

  • I'll be 50 soon enough, and I am so happy to know that I got to listen to this beautiful, wonderful voice in my life. She's so changable....one minute she sounds like a fairy or a bird, the next moment an angel or a monster...she should be put in a technical hall of fame for what she can do with her voice.Brilliant.

  • @Ravisante5000.You love "The Dreaming",don't you?

  • I just love Kate Bush period...I think the first time I heard any of her work I was about 21..that was a while ago.And she has never disappointed with any of her work.

  • Hampden 12, what's the mater with you. You're talking present tense, but she's 51 now.

  • shes still probably got the same paps/arse/body/cute as feck little smile with eyes to match and above all even more talent than she had 23 years ago

god ah luvthewumin..did ah mention lips

    shut it

    shes still stunnin

    nuthin wrong with me

  • sorry...it isn't just how goddam pretty you are kate....red blooded blokes like moi cannot help but admire what is/are probably/definately the greatest pair of paps on the planet...returning to looks though...my god youre so handsome

  • love it still.

  • 'I'd tune into some friendly voices talking about stupid things'

I used to sit under the stars and listen to 'The Ninth Wave' and this line would always bring tears to my eyes. I didn't know why then and I still don't know now!

Kate Bush can make my body do things without me being able to stop it!

  • The picture at 1:12. I am now 42 years old, and that poster (late 70's?) was the only one I ever bought in my whole life, and my Mum made me put it on the wall in my wardrobe instead of on my bedroom wall where I wanted it. I had (have?) a real crush on her! Ah! those were the days eh?

    Great compilation! well done 10/10

  • lets face it...she moulds and "HEATS" the good ol' loin of the men who know the cool chicks on their planet time..no?

  • Kate is a one-off, an original that confounds and amazes the avaricious music world, as an audience we recognise and admire that brilliant talent and integrity ... We also know that one day we will wake up and it will all be gone ... like 'dreams of sheep'.

The fragile, ethereal beauty of an angelic voice ... married to the enigmatic mind of a lyrically gifted musician, and she plays the piano too ... Thanks for sharing a lovely tribute to Ms Bush

  • She's a natural genius.

    Nothing compares.

    Thanks for posting this.

    .

  • top notch. i listen to this very version every now and then, nice montage.

    k

  • Thanks Kate. Love you and your music. You broadened my mind! Have a happy life filled with love and joy. You where in my mind when i was a teenager:; you are in my mind when i am an adult. Not bad from a "pop star".

  • Excellent montage....Kate is the best!...Peace!

  • kate bush is the original and by far the best. Don't mind Tori Amos but she doesn't really remind me of Kate Bush, I guess it's the way they are marketed as artists. The others mentioned I haven't heard, so can't comment. But Ms Bush did it first!

    coraclewoman

  • Kate's best albums were The Kick Inside and The Hounds of Love.

However, there's an album- to - be- made of brilliant songs from Lionheart to The Sensual World.

  • the majority of kate bush fans would tell you that 'the dreaming' is her best album, followed by 'hounds of love'.

  • Funnily enough The Dreaming/ Night of the Swallow was my favorite track for years.

  • genius

  • There probably is not another female mainstream performer with her talent around these days. I guess Tori may come a little close
