@Danielthehurricane Let us know how it goes. We would LOVE to see some pictures/video of the install or the finished product! You can post it here or on our Facebook wall.
Thank you for your comments, but please make note that it is against the National Electrical Code to fish extension cords through the wall. The Recessed Pro Power kits meet all National Electrical Code requirements. This is a safe and code approved way to install power to your flat panel TV, but per code do not fish the power cord.
The placement of the TV should be based on your personal preferences and of course not at an angle that it would be too high and could cause neck strain and that is appropriate for the room size. The placement of TV in our video is for demonstration purposes only.
im 13 years old and i would like to get a flat to the wall tv wallmount for my 42 inch tv in my bedroom. I dont know if it is simple enough for my dad to do with me, taking into account that my dad is pretty useless at DIY LOL! But is that possible or will I need to pay someone to do it for me. And how much would it be likely to cost? thanks for your help. Please get back to me
It would be up to your Dad to determine if this is a project for you to work on together. I suggest watching the installation videos on this site to help him determine if he would like to try it. You can find prices from our retailers on our datacommcableorganizer website. Thank you for your inquiry.
Try using the SNAPTOGGLE Toggle Bolt for installing into areas without studs. These anchors are so easy to install, much smaller hole than spring toggle wings, and they hold a ton of weight.
That's actually not too bad a set up. The inlet electrical cord leaves a little bit to be desired but as long as it's UL approved I don't see any safety issues. People in older homes might run into an issue or two cutting out for the boxes though and there might not be an outlet within the 6' length of that cord. Otherwise, good luck!
Great product - easy to install. Single Gang sleeve is enough since 1 HDMI carries audio+video. A few minor caveats: (1) the "ears" are plastic as are the threaded portion of the ears - BE CAREFUL not to strip by over-tightening. (2) Make sure you know where the studs are AND how wide they are. Conventional stud finders often suck at this task - use a thin nail and hammer to locate the exact edges of studs. Then, make sure to leave at least 1" between the stud and the edge of the hole you make.
What I meant by "single gang is enough" -- a typical HD TV only requires a single HDMI cable to your receiver. HDMI carries audio AND video. All other peripherals (DVD, Blue-Ray, etc.) work best when plugged into your receiver and not directly into the TV. The only caveat with HDMI is that "big brother" can enforce DRM (digital rights mgt) across it. Supposedly, a new law is coming (2011?) that bans all newly-made DVD, BlueRay, etc, devices to ONLY offer HDMI out .. no more component video, etc
You should watch the video again. Its a sheet rock saw. You can get them for 5 bucks at home depot. Just ask home depot rep for sheet rock saw and make sure that the blade looks like the one in the video
my house has insulation behind its walls as with anyones home, wil that interfere with me installing it myself, and could you make a video addressing this problem?
I just visited one of the retailers on your more info section, and they wanted me to purchase installation, do you truly believe that this is a do it yourself product or do I really need to purchase the installation?
This is a do-it-yourself product, but as with all DIY products and projects, some people would like to have someone to the installation for them and these retailers give those people that option. Please visit the websites of our other retailers as we have many that offer our products without the installation.
The size requirements for the TV are determined by you, based on your room and size of the wallspace where you are installing it. Always take the proper precautions if you are working near or around any hot wires.
I wished I had found this 2 years ago when I was looking for a solution and decided to just cover my cables with an over the wall plate. Now I'm wondering if I need to remove my wall bracket to do this, can't see how big the holes are. But absolutely love this as a solution.
The placement of the TV should be based on your personal preferences and of course not at an angle that it would be too high. The placement of TV in our video is for demonstration purposes only.
At this time, it is available from our list of retailers based here in the U.S. You can check with the retailer of your choice to determine if they will ship to the U.K.
That TV will be WAY to high! The unnatural viewing angle is hard on your neck. The center of a TV should be about waist high. NEVER mount a TV above a Fireplace.
It is against the National Electrical Code to fish extension cords through the wall. The Recessed Pro Power kits meet all National Electrical Code requirements. This is a safe and code approved way to install power to your flat panel TV.
If, God forbid, such an electrical cord is found to be responsible for a fire, your home-owner's insurance will NOT cover you, since you violated code.
When working with insulation, wear gloves and protect your eyes, mouth and nose-insulation can contain fiberglass.
Your local hardware store can offer suggestions in fishing wire through an exterior wall. There are also articles on the internet about it: I searched "exterior wall wire fish" and found several helpful articles.
The Recessed Pro-Power Kit can be installed on this type of wall. When fishing wire through exterior walls, fish around the insulation-not through it. Most insulation has either a covering. Fish wire between the covering and the drywall. If possible, fish the wire along a stud, using the stud as a guide. Keep the fish tape end towards the inside of the drywall and there will be less of a chance of it interfering with the insulation.
The screws on the power side of the plate actually screw into the electrical box, not the drywall. The screws on the low voltage side are attached to specially designed wings that flip up to tighten the plate to the drywall. The screws themselves do not drill into the drywall.
aaah... we are moving to a new place, and i don't want to hire someone to do it. hehe so i will buy the product in the next week! thanks for the reply.
why go to all that trouble when you can just buy a long power lead and fish that through the wall, from the TV and out beside the power socket and just plug it in, your way you have an ugly black wire running across your wall.
