  • Hi, does importing the file as shown on the video keep the original audio or is this 'lost in transition'? Thanks

  • oh thank you. You saved my life seriously

  • my name is Quinton bro

  • i'll just use my mac and can use final cut

  • thank you zoo much! funny i should say but i don't have an i pad hahahahahaha LOL!

  • Simple solution is as follows

    - upload the video to YouTube

    - download the mp4 file

    - sync this mp4 file with iTunes. This will also now be available for iMovie

This works also with hd quality videos taken from any camera.

  • Use vimeo...

  • focus is beautiful on a DSLR, but sure isnt on this particular video, come on...

  • There is another workaround for people that have IPAD 2's and do not want to jailbreak. The only problem is it requires some work on the Computer first. The reason iMovie cannot read DSLR footage is because of the audio source. DSLR's record in 48khz audio. Which is the reason iMovie does not alow it to show up. iMovie only works with 41khz audio. You need to convert the audio file to that output. Then re-Encode a new File which then can be uploaded to iMovie. Some work but its an option!

  • Quentin, weird question- with ifile, can you move say... a song into the iTunes app folder, and have it be recognized by the iTunes app?

  • I bought ReelDirector (iPad2 app = $2. Shot 3 short videos at 720, 480, 320p. They showed up in the camera roll. I could play them, no prob on iPad 2. ReelDirector let me import directly from Camera Roll. Didn't need iFile or iMovie. Now, I just need to learn ReelDirector. Then upload to FaceBook, Vimeo, or YouTube. I'm about to head on a x-country trip using a helmet mounted cam riding my HD Street Glide (Hero) and want to vlog from the road. Your video helped me out a lot. Thanks!

  • @whoopteedooper ...Your welcome...although, just so you know....Reel director [DOES NOT] out put HD quality....I Repeat...[DOES NOT] out put 720 HD.......Also, it takes 3 times as long to render than Imovie....Believe me, if ReelDirector was any better than Imovie, I would have used that instead...but its not....Youll be waiting ages for movies from REELDIRECTOR to export...but its definitely up to you :).....Thanks for the nice compliment by the way!

  • @theonlyquentin a YouTube vid seems to indicate that ReelDirector 3.2 can export to 720p: "iPhone Video test 720p / Reel Director 3.2 / Kivilahti 2010"

Okay, and I just now shot some 720p and uploaded it to YouTube, and 720p is one of the options (probably overkill for YouTube).

If only I could edit the sound! The little speaker icon doesn't show up in the edit box...

  • My iPad2 is not jailbroken. I searched for iFile on appstore but found none. Is there an app on the appstore that can move videos to Camera Roll? Please let us know for those who do not want to jailbreak. Many thanks!

  • @manilatonight ...You must have a jail-broken ipad because Apple does not let you browse the filesystem with any app to get the file system access....unfortunately, apple has a lock on their devices which do not let you have freedom to the device without jailbreak....The only way to do this with a NON-JAILBROKEN ipad is to convert the clip with reel director which can take HOURS....... :( My method only takes 120 Seconds :)....gOODLUCK AND hope Ive helped

  • @manilatonight You must jailbreak your ipad to access the file system.

  • THANK YOU!

  • @manilatonight Your Welcome! N E Time!

  • Great info. Thanks for figuring this all out.

  • @Roarerthe Your welcome...anytime...its really beneficial to me when I need field blogs / field shots uploaded...

  • Hi Quentin very cool advice. I'm yet to buy an ipad but thinking about it.

I will need to upload large video HVD files 1080 size to the ipad when lm travelling.

Do you think this will be possible ? l wont need to compress them or edit them cos l will download them to my mac when lm home. many thanks Lucy

  • @foxyxxxx1 Hey foxx....It will not be possible to upload 1080p and have it playback on the Ipad....If you read the ipad specifications on the device manufactures page... The hardware cannot decode anything higher then 720p / = 720X1280 pixels.....You can possibly play them back through ifile.....but it cannot edit them.......GET THE IPAD....not the IPAD 2...cant jailbreak that one :).....Hope Ive helped and cheers on your travelling :)

  • thanks my man!!

  • @BigScaryFace Your welcome....enjoy yourself!!! :D

  • FUCK YHEAAAA!!! Thanks so much man!!! This gives you sooo much awsomenes! Id be interested if you can make it work with the Eye-Fi Pro X2 8 GB Class 6 SDHC Wireless Flash Memory Card in your DSLR and have the videos going over to the Ipad wirelessly.

  • @unodospizza ....Your welcome....Enjoy the workaround.....I have no experience with a eye-fi card...but definitely sounds promising....Although, does the eye-fi card need any added software to work? or does it work instantly with network access??? If the card connects to the network without any added software...I can tell you 100% right now it will work :)
