  • Can you explain me how can i program the key for the 1999 version(the key it's different)

  • You just saved me £140 notes top man thanks

  • I just changed the battery on my diamond key for my 540I 2002 with the rechargable Panasonic vl2020 and I did not need to reprogram it. I kinda taped the key back together to test it out and it worked, not programming necessary.

  • @GMOYRON1 Nice job! I give all my retail, wholesale, and online customers the option of replacing the battery or the key. However, most don't want to "break" the seal or solder anything.

  • what is ibus?

  • @neillattz The short answer is the type of communication the vehicle uses. If you want a more in depth description (29 page PDF) please email at thebmwpartstore@gmail.com

  • Worked! Thanks so much

  • Hey I have a 2002 745LI and these have the push start buttons... how do I program it? There is no "turn on ignition". So do I put it into the key slot and remove? Not sure

  • @bbesongt You have a MostBUS equipped vehicle. Just push and hold the key in the slot and you should be good to go.

  • Thanks men!!! this is for me big big help!!!!

  • Programing the key for what?

  • @scottaf80234 The remote part of the key (lock, unlock, and trunk). They lose programming over time, and if you were to buy a new key this is a necessary procedure. Often times dealerships will charge you an hours worth of labor to do this.

  • please help, i just bought bmw x5 2001 key only starts car but can't open door and lock with botton. what can I do?

  • @akakiko1000 Congratulations on the purchase! I'm sorry to say you're going to need a new key if this isn't working for you. Typical cost for that style key is $160-$180. Good luck!

  • thanks man

  • Can you do this for a 2001 porsche boxster?

  • @rich9284 Nope, I'm not familiar with Porsche's procedure.

  • Big help!!!

  • Thanks

  • Awesome video! I didn't had to program my key for some reason.

Would like to add 2 tips that can assist others on the opening process. 1# I put the key on the gap between the fridge and the door and using the rubber to support when I stroke with the xacto knife. The fridge assisted me on being more precise with strokes and less panic of probably getting hurt or messing the chip. #2 Heated the blade for faster, smooth cuts.

    EXCELLENT VIDEO. MONEY SAVER!

  • Hi, what about programing both keys? I did it for the first one and worked well, but the second one just does not work anymore. Any special procedure? Does they have to be programed all at once?

  • Thanks for video. Problem: car 'unlocks' but won't lock. Any suggestions?

  • I just got a 2002 325i with that remote but it came not working, so I just want to know, what do all the buttons do?

  • @SkullDrifter It is just the basic unlock, lock, and open trunk remote.

  • If i buy a new key with a new un-programmed transponder and have the key cut to match the original, will doing this make the new key work or is this just to reprogram a existing key that has lost functionality?

  • @pimpinteddy I can't speak for any of the aftermarket companies out there, but this is to program a key in general. From a new key to an existing one that has lost its program. I would stray away from anything you see on eBay pertaining to these keys.

  • my car keys work sometimes and sometimes it doesn't, what's the reason for this thank you very much. And how much does BMW stealership charge for a new key?

  • @oscarv362370 It could be that your key is starting to go bad. A dealership will charge, for this style key, anywhere from $130.00 to $250.00, just depends on location.

  • thanks for your video .. a question! I have a 2000 323i wagon, the key is the same program when the key is new, "a copy" and a new chip? Thanks!

  • @albertcl1977 I apologize, but I want to make sure I understand the question. Are you asking if when a new key is made it's just a copy and new chip? If so, no, that's not the case. When you order a new key from BMW it's an entirely new unit. They make everything based of your VIN using brand new parts. Let me know if I completely misunderstood that. Thanks!

  • @albertcl1977 I'm sorry, but I don't understand the question.

  • please help, i just bought 2000 323ci convt and the only key that starts the car. the big main keys only lock n unlock. can you tell me how to program them myself

  • @19basim61 If it doesn't start the car something is wrong with the key. The only way to confirm would be going to your local shop / dealership. Sorry I'm not able to help more.

  • @19basim61 The keys do go bad after time. This is not a typical replace the battery type of key. It has a Panasonic battery, but replacing it is not a simple task, and requires you to cut the key open. I would venture to guess you need a new key-- sorry!

  • Dude ty for video. Who knows, is it working for old (2 buttons) keys?i have e46 99

  • @Intigam20 It works the same, but you do not have to put it in the ignition. Just the button procedure.

  • Thanks so much!

  • Do you have an easy video on how to set my seating presets in my e46 330ci?

  • @MrJgsn77 Sure thing. I'll let you know when I get it uploaded.

  • Hi, I have a 2005 E61. Will this be the same procedure I would use? Thanks in advance

  • @1melrose1 Nope, in that vehicle you'll just need to use the key a couple times and it'll work. The car just needs time to recognize the new key.

  • I thought my battery on the key died. I called BMW. They want $150.00 to change the battery. I just came across this video an I decide to try it. And it works! My key works again to open and close all the doors. And the trunk. So quick and easy. F*cking BMW wants so much to do this. F*ckers!

  • hi!i have a 1998 bmw e46 with the old key,it s programming the same way too?thanx

  • I'm susprised that's so easy. will that allow the key to start the car too?

  • Thanks...

  • Awesome dude. easy to understand and quick :) great job

  • @jorgerewards Thanks! If you have any other BMW related questions feel free to send me a message.

  • @thebmwpartstore tried this sync and opps i must have screwed up somewhere. The car locked fine but wont open can you help.Oh and the door lock is broken aswell.

  • i ´ll try on my 2001 m3 ... :O

  • hi i have a 2002 318se and mines not working when i do this, at first it would take a few press to lock/unlock then all of a sudden stopped. I was told the battery ment to recharge itself but i aint sure could you help me out and tell me what you think could be the issue?

  • @goku12345anime It could be time for a replacement key. Once the key's battery is too low it will not recharge. It is possible to replace just the battery, but it's not simple, and requires some skill as you have to cut the key open. With a new key you should be able to use this process. Good luck!

  • Hi I have a 2000 323i e46 bmw. The key you use is the newer model of the key i have , i tried it but it doesn't seem to work. Do you know how to program older keys? Thanks Ben

  • f*ck BMW who takes so much money to do this!

  • I'm glad this helped everyone! Feel free to contact me with any BMW questions.

  • @thebmwpartstore Hi.Can u tell me how to program the key for a 95 BMW 540i? Thx in advance...Yan

  • @pug40502

It would be the same procedure, just different button locations. The timing is a little more severe, but you can tell you're doing it right because the red light on the key with start to blink then stay solid. I'll see if we have any E34 era vehicles and make a separate video.

  • @thebmwpartstore

Thx! I'll try that and let you know how it went............Yan

  • Thanks a Million to you. i did this on my bmw 2001 e39 euro version.

  • than you man

  • Thank you so much I just saved $225

  • What??? So easy??? No way :D so lets say i buy a new key, let the seller make me a duplicate and the i just do this procedure and i got myself a new key? I guess the steps are a bit different, something like first authenticate the first original key and then somehow tell the car about the new one or something like that, not sure, just guessing...

  • thanks you it worked !! :)

  • Thanks man! Helped!
