juts a side note I think if you were to use pepper spray to defend yourself from an attack while ytou were carrying that woudl look very good if the situation goes to court...It shows you did your very best to keep the attacker away with as little damage as possible...
That's a great point. A clear demonstration of restraint will look very good in your favor. I look forward to your vids on the CS Inferno. I think you should test out the live stuff :)
Thanks so much. You are a big inspiration to me. I've got a couple of vids in the works but right now my sinuses have me sounding like Kermit so they will have to wait.
That's a great example of bureaucratic nonsense. The chance of pepper spray doing long term damage: very low. The chance of a knife doing long term damage: near certainty. Let's outlaw the knife! Not to mention, I've seen dudes who are carrying knives pulled off the street and asked to use their blade defensively against a dummy. Over 80% would have hurt themselves using their knives in the manner they tried. Lesson: carry of continuum of force and train train train!
Quick question: how/where do you carry your pepper spray? I have a Fox labs 5.3 of identical dimension and it is a bit bulky when I use a belt pouch for it.
I get a lot of grief for this on Youtube but I carry a waist pouch (fanny pack). I have a video on it (as does nutnfancy) but it's pretty old. I am planning on making an update vid for my pack soon but that is where I keep it. To be honest, it is the main reason I have a pack. I think it is such an important item. In fact, I used it last weekend. A neighborhood dog was getting aggressive with my 2yr old and would not leave. A quick spray and a talk with the owner and problem solved.
"Club scenero" Just need a good lawer, people have had very bad injuries and even died from being punched, to me that's deadly force, just need good lawer to get that point across.
Obviously if he backs down after the first hit you can't do much, but if he continues to try and hurt me, he will be shot.
Just have to argue that you didn't know his full intentions and wasn't going to take any chances. Remember, you have alot of witnesses to back your story that he was the one who started it.
I feel like I have thoroughly debated this point but to be a good youtuber, I will respond. I have the opinion of a local police officer and a local criminal defense attorney and both say that shooting a guy for hitting you will likely get you time. At the very least, you will be holding your breath during the whole trial because you can't be sure how it will go. My primary point is this, if I feel I can disable an assailant with pepper spray instead of a gun, I will do it. That is my choice.
wow some very good info never thought about the pepper spray. i have a knife and a gun i carry on me but never thought about the ramifacations of pulling either now i need to go do what you did and get some pepper spray the only i problem i have with pepper spray is it can get on you when you use it which would suck
are pepper spray much better than cn or cs? and if is winter will have the same effect as on a summer day? to me was happend to not work (CS NATO) at -14degrees celsius ,against an 'gorilla man' last winter!!! im from Roumania.
Tough call on being punched in the face. I sat in a courtroom a few years back observing a case where a man trained as a boxer punched a guy in the side of the head once and killed him due to the resulting internal bleeding from the punch to his head. If an attacker has the knowledge and strength to do so, they can easily kill someone with a punch.
I don't think a gun would have helped him much if he hit him and killed him on the first punch. People like boxers, martial artists and other people combat trained are considered to be deadly weapons without additional implements. The thing is: 1 I can't know if that person is trained and 2 if he jumps me, no gun or pepper spray will help. I'm dead no matter what I am carrying. However, if I know the attack is coming, I can disable 99% of attackers with pepper spray regardless of training.
u said if an animal like a dog where to come close to u in an aggressive manner u would pull out ur gun, what if it just was a regular dog who was hyper or startled but wouldn't hurt u? because im all for self protection, but if my dog was shot by someone mistaking it for an attack, i would be pretty pissed, i dont mean anything personal, im just saying.
Let's deal with this from two sides. 1st, as a dog lover (cried at Old Yeller), I would HATE to have to kill a dog. However, having been around dogs for a long time and owning a dog myself, I am a pretty good judge of a dog's body language. I would need to be fairly convinced the dog meant harm but if I believed it did, I would kill it to defend a person.
2nd, if your dog is loose and I shoot it because I believe it was going to injure someone, that is your fault for not controlling your animal.
I am not a lawyer or anything of the kind. I looked around on Google and found out the only restriction in Texas is size (it cannot be more than 4oz). I also spoke with a friend who is a police officer and another friend who is a criminal lawyer and they both agreed with my findings. If you are in doubt, call your local police station (non-emergency number) and ask them. They may take your number and have someone get back to you but you will get a reliable answer.
You need a better lawyer. You CAN be killed from a fist if hit in the right place. If someone physically assaults me, I'm going to pull my gun. If he then trys to continue the attack, he's going to get shot. Better to be judged by 12 then carried by 6.

Hey, is there an age limit or do you need some kind of license to carry pepper spray? What are the requirements?
Thanks, Mike
