Did you use the stock pickups in this video? I'm thiking of buying one, but when I get it, I think I'm not rich enought to buy some better pickups right away. Are these pickups any good? In the video they sound killer...
@Finniej yes, in this video i'm using the stock pickups... I think that they will give some problems only live (at high volumes it becomes very mooddy)

@USMCDog89 I would like to help you but this is the only 8 string guitar I've ever played, I have to say that if you're worried about the playability and you're an ibanez fan you better get an ibanez so you don't have a double problem (changing guitar brand and passing from 7th to 8th) also I found the RGA8 very good, I mean the bridge, the neck, everything is equal from the prestige, except the pickups (that you have to change if you want to play live) and the woods. @USMCDog89 When I was choosing a guitar I remember Agile has a neck too long (almost a bass neck) and raed somewhere the strings were hard to find (the 4th and the 5th) don't know if it's true... I you're used to the ibanez neck forget about getting a Schecter... it's already difficult to pass from 7th Ibanez to 7th Schecter... sorry for bad english

Hey bro, Do you think that Ernie Ball 8 string set with the .74 gauge F string too thick for the nut? I bought that set and have been wanting to change out the strings, but it looks like it may be too big for the nut. Any help would be appreciated since i have not messed with my RGA8 too much. @legatoman I've never tried other 8 strings guitars... but I think (and people on the internet say) that ibanez has the thinnest neck, and the lowest action... it's just superb! also it's longer than damiens... some guy told me it's better just to buy rga8 and change the pickups... the original pickups? well at clean they're ok (to me) at dist they're to confusing
@legatoman I own an RGA8 and have played the Schecter and yes it is true. The schecter neck was much slower to play too I found, although that could probably be solved with a good ol' polish.
@belkeSMASH yea, he'd look good in dreads, I always wanted dreads but never knew if i'd look good in them so I would just end up cutting me hair once my hairs only a few inches long :(

@psyckla5 tnx xD it's funny some just hate it some love it... I personally have a pretty shitty rig (all the cheapest things I've found) in this video i use only Peavey VK100 head and peavey 4x12 cab (and RGA8 guitar had the original shitty pickups, now I have an EMG808) the head is not high gain so the distortion you hear is due to the recording (i used a Shury c606, the cheapest xD now i have a Shure SM57) To tell you the thruth I don't like this sound, you better ask to more talented people
Have you ever considered going with D-Activator 8 pickups? Not because this sounds bad (although they are stock pickups so they're not AS good as they could be) but passives would help so you wouldn't worry about changing batteries and such. Otherwise, great playing!

@BillWrittenman well it depends on a lot of things, for it's price it' s a good 8 string guitar! if it was a 6 strings guitar I don't think it would be a good price, you're paying for the strings not for the quality... i spent 550€ but I think it's worth like a 350€ 6 strings guitar
I have the Rga8, but I have Seymour Duncan Blackouts in mine an I am very pleased. My friend has the Schecter 8 an it sucks in comparison to the Ibanez.
Buy the Rga8, change the pickups an I think you'll be satisfied.

@teamtroduzco i would say "buy some new mic 'cause is really dirty ( in the bad meaning )" if u got 300$ to spend somewhere buy a Lundren M8 it's use by all the big Djent Bands ( Meshuggah,Tosin ( Animals as leaders) or if u want to keep "Active" buy some Seymour Duncan AhB-1 for 8 strings ( i got 2 they are really god, but it was on serie for me : Blackjack C-8 ). But great song ecept the tone! It actually have the Djent sound some times but too much blur on it ( Active!!)

I've never played a six of seven string before and I wanted to try instruments with wider ranges because playing the standard is kinda boring. @NevyNevJr i had an rg7321 If you're new to more than 6 strings I think it's better to try first a 7 string guitar! trust me! now 8 strings seems normal to me, but even the 7->8 was a bit traumatic
@teamtroduzco LOL I know what you mean. I was just goofing off, I had a 6 string acoustic that was pretty hectic because the strings were so spread apart, not the play action, LITERALLY spread apart, and the neck was actually bigger than that of an RG7321. So when I made the change, I didn't have a problem at all. But I do plan to get an 8 string eventually, I just want to fully master the 7 string first. I'm not a douche who would try and run before I can walk. But thanks for the advice dude.

I personally have a pretty shitty rig (all the cheapest things I've found) in this video i use only Peavey VK100 head and peavey 4x12 cab (and RGA8 guitar had the original shitty pickups, now I have an EMG808) the head is not high gain so the distortion you hear is due to the recording (i used a Shury c606, the cheapest xD now i have a Shure SM57) To tell you the thruth I don't like this sound, you better ask to more talented people

Have you ever considered going with D-Activator 8 pickups? Not because this sounds bad (although they are stock pickups so they're not AS good as they could be) but passives would help so you wouldn't worry about changing batteries and such. Otherwise, great playing!

@BillWrittenman well it depends on a lot of things, for it's price it' s a good 8 string guitar! if it was a 6 strings guitar I don't think it would be a good price, you're paying for the strings not for the quality... i spent 550€ but I think it's worth like a 350€ 6 strings guitar

I have the Rga8, but I have Seymour Duncan Blackouts in mine an I am very pleased. My friend has the Schecter 8 an it sucks in comparison to the Ibanez.
Buy the Rga8, change the pickups an I think you'll be satisfied.

try using a touch less gain on the amp for better clarity and articulation on the low notes. It's a bit muddy, but killer tune.

@teamtroduzco i would say "buy some new mic 'cause is really dirty ( in the bad meaning )" if u got 300$ to spend somewhere buy a Lundren M8 it's use by all the big Djent Bands ( Meshuggah,Tosin ( Animals as leaders) or if u want to keep "Active" buy some Seymour Duncan AhB-1 for 8 strings ( i got 2 they are really god, but it was on serie for me : Blackjack C-8 ). But great song ecept the tone! It actually have the Djent sound some times but too much blur on it ( Active!!)

@teamtroduzco Thanks. That thing has a big ass neck on it I assume. I live in a barracks in okinawa and I wanna get one--if not I'll get a seven string or a six string bass. I've never played a six of seven string before and I wanted to try instruments with wider ranges because playing the standard is kinda boring. I bought an Alto guitar but that thing gives me a headache

This is a good video. I play 7 strings and I'm curious about 8strigs. This gives me a good idea of the sound. I hate videos of people playing covers. Don't put up your best stuff man, You don't want someone jacking your riff.

@NevyNevJr i had an rg7321 If you're new to more than 6 strings I think it's better to try first a 7 string guitar! trust me! now 8 strings seems normal to me, but even the 7->8 was a bit traumatic

@teamtroduzco LOL I know what you mean. I was just goofing off, I had a 6 string acoustic that was pretty hectic because the strings were so spread apart, not the play action, LITERALLY spread apart, and the neck was actually bigger than that of an RG7321. So when I made the change, I didn't have a problem at all. But I do plan to get an 8 string eventually, I just want to fully master the 7 string first. I'm not a douche who would try and run before I can walk. But thanks for the advice dude.
