Im gonna have to disagree with you on the mp being the ultimate film rangefinder. The m7 has aperture priority and internal digital exposure metering, as well as manual override.
hey I love the leica but little afraid with the rangefinder. I use dslr for my photo shoot, but I wanna get into film cameras. I know canon and nikon do film camera with no rangefinder which are perfect but its huge like the dslr. I wanna get it to street photography dslr great but some people do find it uncomfortable are cameras. I'm just researching still but what do you recommend is best film camera for people starting out...

that is a sexy camera, but I gotta tell you, it ain't badder than my M2. The ultimate rangefinder? My vote is for the M2R with a magnum rapid rewind crank. after that I vote an early black M4. but I wouldn't trade my M2 for anything. I'm also very fond of my M5 {black chrome} which is way better than the M6,7 and M8&9 {if you consider them real Ms}. Of all modern Ms I think you got the best. sweet camera. beat the hell out of it.

@InCredJo The presence of a light meter and slightly different body styling such as the film rewind knob on the MP is closer to the M3 than the M4 which uses the angled knob like the M6.
The differences between the Mp and the M4-p (quality-wise) are pretty minor.
The MP is many respects is a more rudimentary version of the amazing M6. the MP, like the M6 is Mechanical as opposed to the electronic M7
hope that wasn't as confusing for you to read as it was for me to re-read :P
I think the CL is sexiest... seriously. It's the only Leica.. or if you like "Leica".. I've owned, and I honestly cannot imagine a nicer camera though I understand the real deal has a larger viewfinder which I suppose could be nice.. but they are also larger and heavier.
Oh wow that is one beautiful camera, I like the silver one better but ugh the black is sexy as you said. Personally I like the little dings on my camera it adds character and makes it feel like mine.

@CrazyJimKU Why? It's a brick of a camera being set down on a cardboard box. This camera could be kicked down the street or drug behind a car for a few blocks and it would still work. It really is a lifetime camera :)
i've always dreamt of owning an mp! congrats on the purchase and indeed it looks very very sexy. quick question. what's function of the dial on the back of the back panel? ; i'm looking into getting one after i finishing up my darkroom set up.
I do not buy all of the cameras I write about. 90% of them are sent to me to review by Leica or manufacturers. Also, if I buy a new camera for myself I have to sell whatever I have to fund the new one.
I had a used M8 for a while. It was a good price but had some scuff marks on it. And ultimately I couldn't live with it. I want to make my own marks, so it's back to the M6 for my Leica experience.
Congrats on the MP, Steve. It's a dream of mine too.
Please send us a next video when you have put some more scratches on it. And tell us how you did it, so we can learn how to avoid a messy camera.
