  • How noble is man in reason, how God-like.

  • I take comfort in knowing that I am a part of the universe and I will always be. But what am I? The energy is not the same in me. The air I breath becomes my energy for a while. New cells was previously energy outside of me. It is such an exchange of energy that "I" am already spread out in the world :)

  • 1996 Pope John Paul II:

"Today, almost half a century after the publication of the encyclical [pope pius XII "humani generic" 1950], new knowledge has led to the recognition of the theory of evolution as more than a hypothesis... The convergence, neither sought nor fabricated, of the results of work that was conducted independently is in itself a significant argument in favor of this theory."

a clear papal admission that evolution is real and bible stories of creation are fairytales.

  • consiousness can only see itself as being

self cannot see itself as not being

  • My religous conclusion from science. Since the counsiousness is established from energies in an astonishing collaboration, one can easily think of the hindus thoughts on universal spirit. I use energy. I am energy. I have not a single shread of energy now that I had 10 years ago. I can now have energy that another living being had before. Still I live. But I can't be the same person scientifically. I am a part of the soul of the universe.

  • Interesting, but do you extend the idea of consciousness beyond the energy of the human or animal brain? Do you think it can exist without computation of the level done by something like a brain or a supercomputer? Perhaps the universe is mind, but one thing that is required for a computer or a brain is for it to be small, so information flow can be fast enough for cohesive complex feedback patterns through the whole, limited by the speed limit of light.

  • Thus, yes. If an object have to think meaningful or have some kind of experience at the same pace as a human, it's brain have to be compact and not have components from distance. However, it is not proven, though some might find this far fetched, that large systems like the internet may be a slow subject by its collective interface. There are more IP adresses now than the ammount of neuron connections a squid has.
