I Been Watching World Cup for so many years and this is the WORST ever World Cup. This bloody horn is ruining everything. This buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz sound won't go up or down according to the events on the ground. Its just constant. So what is the point of all this?

Some people are defending like this belongs to SA culture. By doing this they are bringing disrepute to SA n not doing any favours.
When I tunned into the world cup I expected to hear cheering, chanting, drumming and singing but I hear none of that just a constant droning sound buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz! For 90 minutes. The Vuvuzelas has taken the fun out of soccer and replaced it with a noise and not music. I thought I would hear the rich African musical culture during the world cup but I hear none of that just buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz so African culture is buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz for 90 minutes straight how heart breaking!
What is the problem? That's the sound of the 2010 cup! European fans want to export their own perception of fan culture. It is the same as german tourists who want to get their schnitzels on the canaries or british people fish and chips in greece. As consolation to all critics: There will be another World Cup in 2014 where you can perform your highly sophisticated melodious chants again!

I really think it's awesome that the 2010 world cup is hosted by SA. I really do. But to be honest, I really hate the vuvuzela. There's no emotion in it. You can´t tell whether it´s going good or bad with your team. The sound is always the same. That´s a shame because you should be able to know how your team is doing without seeing. Yeah, it's just a constant noise, without refering to the course of the match. It completely suppresses the crowd's reactions, kills everything, kills the whole atmosphere. There's no rhythm, no chanting, no singing, nothing; only this constant noise of a hornet swarm. South Africans seems to be the dumbest people on this planet without any feeling for rhythm or celebration. They only know one stupid constant tune.
Those plastic trumpets came to South Africa in the late 90s. They have nothing to do with SA culture. It's a mass production fan article and ruins the world cup for everyone else but the South African fans. Had to switch off the sound completely and will not watch the rest of the world cup. South Africans have spoilt this event. Congratulations. You will be remembered as the worst host in the history of the FIFA world cup.
You shod ask only other people not ones from Africa ;). Or maybe it just proofs that Africans have a problem understanding what music or even sound is ..
