  • This music is fantastic. I had no idea that Jesper composed for the Genesis.

  • this game so hard >.<

  • He also did Assassin's Creed, the chase theme to that game is intense!

  • This music is on par with Hans Zimmer's work in the more recent Batman films. Simply astounding.

  • OH MY GOD! thank you so much for making this vid. it's bringing back so many memories just listening to this!

  • Dubstep?????????

  • @VillainousCree1

a lot of this wouldn't sound out of place at a rave IMO

  • best batman game and soundtrackkk

  • i love this its so dark and catchy at the same time, games now a' days don't have the same depth as these games do, :/, this is waht makes the game when my brother plays this on his saga i say play the adventures of batman and robin because its got good music and he loves it to

  • God damn Jesper Kyd is a genious

  • i remember playin dis wen i was 6 dope ass game

  • This game did stuff that put the snes to shame.

Seriously, whoever programmed this game knew the genesis hardware like nobody else.

  • @everett1911

as much as i love snes and snes many times overcomes the genesis but somethimes genesis doesn't show it's age and overcomes the snes.musically genesis is just better technically i don't think so.

  • masterpiece ost

  • masterpiece ost

  • This game has one of the most amazing soundtracks, it's right up there with Streets Of Rage 1.

  • Sega genesis had the best music, they have this special... sound. It sounds like everything is inside a barrel or something. SNES (wich is my alltime favorite console) has great music aswell, but it sounds a bit swishy or something.

Btw this game rocks, I don't know how many hours I spent playing this game over at my friends house when I was a kid.

  • ЗЫ, Он слишком быстро проходит игру. Кайфа никакого

  • Шедевральная игра. Лучшая игра о Бэтмене ИМХО

  • This music is ok,but the 2nd and 3rd stage music are insanely good!

  • This music is great!

  • Why do so many people hate this music so much? It seriously kicks butt!

  • @desotowright Because to the untrained ear, it sounds like an army of wasps with kazoos kicking garbage cans running through a phaser pedal. Those of us who grew up FM will appreciate the awesomeness of this soundtrack, I like both SNES and Genesis though, they have their own memories for me. :3

  • @desotowright because they never had SEGA!

  • THANK YOU for putting a gameplay video to the music. Most other people who post game music have some lame still shot, and not even a good one at that. tnx

  • Good choice of tunes from the game.I would have added the final boss battle theme, but other than that awesome :) 5 stars

  • Some of the most amazing music I've heard from the Genesis. Awesome.

  • Probably one of the best games ever released for Genesis. Solid gameplay, music and stunning graphics.

  • @youtubasoarus

    True.

Though, kNIGHTWING01 gave this game a 4/10 and gave the SNES version a perfect 10 on his review. I probably would assume he's a Nintendo fanboy. I mean, the game deserved better than a 4/10.

  • I just loved this game back when i first saw it (10 years ago) just ended it.Best Soundtrack/BGM i've heard in any genesis game i played to date.

  • that game is hella hard, even for a beat 'em up. it's more suited for an arcade.

  • wow, this soundtrack appears to be a hidden gem

  • I love this game. It's hard to believe, but it's one of my favs of all time. Sure, it's not what you'd expect from a Batman game, but it was fast and intense. Like Contra meets Batman.

  • You forgot the best song in the game. Riddler's boss music. Well, it's more the music+stage put together, the song just fits perfectly. It even syncs up with the Riddler's movement at the start of the fight.

  • So is this game worth a play? The music's awesome, but whenever I see "Batman and Robin", all I can think of is that craptacular movie.

  • its a beatemup with some really creative and cool levels but theyre also hard. Its worth a well-aimed shot :P

  • I'm all for a good challenge. Thanks.

  • Haha!!!!

Rest assured, this game is a classic. If you haven't played it yet, do it now. It's more fun with 2 players.

  • Good thing this is based on the animated series, then. And yeah, it's an awesome game, damn hard though.

  • month old but yes it is, its based off the cartoon from back then and so its got some good times in it.

  • this game is sooooooooooooo hard!!

  • After ALL these years, I FINALLY see and realize that that's Joker controlling the crane in the background! Talk about not paying attention to shit! XD

  • Pure Jesper Kyd goodness.

  • The graphic for the claw at 6:20 and on is so cool.

  • Holy shit I had no idea this was the work of Jesper Kyd. Every soundtrack he does rocks, the Hitman games, Kane and Lynch, etc. Even as a kid I thought the music was epic, there was an option under the main menu to play through each stage's song and all those years ago I remember appreciating it even then! Thank you so much for the upload!

  • So hart das es knallt!

  • This Jesper fellow is fucking awesome, hands down. 6-7 minute pieces for a video game and way back in 95' to boot. This stuff has the depth and variety to be cast on some of todays systems, repsectively. When I first heard this many moons ago I was floored and I scrambled to find a way to get my hands on these tracks.

I'm going to look up more of this guys stuff..

  • Jesper Kyd is one of the most highly regarded western composers today and he's won countless awards for his work. I recommend you check out the soundtracks he did for the Hitman games.

  • i remember renting this from blockbuster a long long time ago when i was a zitty teen. i had to shut the music off cause it was too damn abrasive, but i'm actually really into that tinny sluge z80 sound now. i also remember the game being too hard and me only able to get past the 3rd level cause the game glitched out or i accidentally found a cheap code and had near unlimited lives...

  • i Have posted a video o Final Fantasy with the song PSYKO SECTION, enjoy!

  • To those who said that the Mega Drive had an awful sound chip, I can officially say: SUCK IT.

  • @MattTheSpratt

It did. And it's clear here. But some games really maxed it out, and could make it sound raw and hardcore and awesome.

  • I knew I recognized the style. Jesper Kyd composed the music for Subterrania as well. Two top notch soundtracks between that game and this.

  • Man, I really can't tell if this is sarcasm or not. In any case, I'll bite.

Wiki Jesper Kyd. Let's just say he did alright.

  • I wish there was a Batman game based on the comics that was this good.

The best games on characters originating from comic books are based on Batman, but they are either based on the movies or animated series, and NOT the comics directly.

Let's hope Arkham Asylum fixes that.

  • this game was DOPE

  • The music is awesome!

  • I wish I were Batman!

  • sega genesis had the best music.

and its hard to beat this game's music

streets of rage, gunstar heroes, contra hard corps, are a few games that come in close second

  • The music is soooooo cool!

  • This is a cool song It takes me back when I first played The Adventures of Batman & Robin .

  • I like the music.

  • Trust me, its' some of the best on the Genesis.

  • The songs are way longer than what you have on here..... But it still takes me back. This was one of my favorite games. Still is.

  • The Super Nintendo version of this was better- but this was a pretty good game on both consoles.

  • Actually, the SNES version was a completely different game.

  • I know. I said the Super Nintendo version of this was a better game but both the SNES game and the Sega Genesis game are both good games.

  • and when I say Version, I mean game.

  • The SNES version wasn't better. It had no character. Nothing that kicked ass.

It wasn't bad, but not groundbreaking like this here ...

  • A point where you are standing on a roller coaster avoiding bombs while beating the shit out of the Joker doesn't sound badass to you? Honestly, the only kickass thing I remember in the Genesis game was the fact you faced the Mad Hatter, who was in a giant revolving top hat.

  • Until you try to jump on his roller coaster, which looks exactly like yours and drop through it and think: what the fuck? How was I supposed to know that I can't jump there? It looks exactly like the one I'm standing on. ;)

No, for real: On the MD it is graphicly Jaw dropping and shows what you can do on the Mega Drive and the music is jaw dropping, too.

On the SNES: everything as that "stock" appeal.

So bad ass to waltz thorugh riddler labyrinth for hours, only to face boring dialog ... :D

  • Remember in Sonic when they establish you can grab onto the ship but you can't when he gets away? I feel it's kind of like that. It doesn't break the game, however.

The graphics on the SNES version look as they are from the actual show. The Genesis ones had 3D, But in exchange- any non-boss looks like crap.

Generic? yes. So was the Genesis version though. Didn't stop either from being good games.

The episode the riddler one was based on was word heavy. But yeah, I'll give you that one.

  • the genesis version was better by far in terms of gameplay, it was also 2PLAYER. that already makes it more fun. the sidescrolling fighter/platform aspects were much more fun than the SNES version. Yes the graphics were straight from the cartoon on SNES but the genesis version had its own dark artistic style and better gameplay( with 2PLAYERS!)

  • oh my gosh. I remember buying this game when I was a kid.

and I remember HATING IT SO MUCH!!! It was WAY too hard!!

    Still,

    takes me back =P

  • This is one of what I like to call one of the very few "perfect" Genesis games~ Great music, awesome graphics, and piss-hard difficulty.

  • The only thing that was bad with it was that the level design was downright horrible. All of the stages we're too long.

  • OMG, I completely forgot about this game and how much it rocked! Also no wonder the music rocked it done by Jesper Kyd!

  • This game is hardcore took me forevr to beat now i can beat it dying a few times or not at all and the music is incredible especially the boss battle music

advice use green the game is nearly impossible witout it

  • All thanks to Jesper Kyd!

  • he's still doing game music including Assassin's Creed and GOW sweet!

  • me and my cuz cant even get passed the 2nd level

  • dude thats hilarious i used to play this game with my cousin too

    we never got far

  • i like the music at 3:02

  • Batman and robin - the best music on 16bit platform. Funking fantastic!!!

  • There is something so deliciously dark and evil about this game... It brings back so many childhood memories trying to beat the game - i love it

  • Jesper Kyd, baby!! NO game soundtrack can ever sound like crap as long as he's composing it. His music is just so sexy and bassy... and BADASS!

  • Jesper Kyd's music reminds a little of movie composer Eric Serra (Goldeneye, Fith Element) with mixed with a shot of Adrenalin and intensity from Hanz Zimmer.

  • Defiitely one of the better Batman games. The whole game just had this element that was very dark for its time. Super intense game!

  • Much agreed. This game is like contra on a Shroom trip.

  • lol. The mental image is pretty funny.

  • Good thing they chose to make the games different.

Though both games were good, I liked the music in the SNES-version better, as it sounded more like the music in the cartoons.

  • Greatest OST of Megadrive games !!! And it's Jesper Kyd ! (Hitman ^^)

  • Looked at who did the music & its the guy who does the soundtracks for Hitman, among a bunch of other stuff from what I read. Weird choice of music, I'd say, seems more appliable to a war-based game.

  • This is a great game... my brother and I used to play this all the time. Great music too.

  • i wonder if you have the choice to pick the character you wan between batman & robin or if you play alone, you dont have the choice to pick batman?

  • yeah you were able to chose between the two

  • And then game over screen is just how I remember it. It has Mr Freeze floating in his cannon as a countdown timer's going down. When it reaches zero, the screen shakes and gotham is in winterland.

  • it still is today

  • I remember playing this game when i was 5. Really fun but really challenging.

  • this is like the current batman theme

  • The SNES version is garbage compared to this one.

  • Just true only many try to turn that thing around and say the snes one is better,Graphically this version does everything possible on a genesis and does many things that are impossible on the snes and not even seen in the snes version.

  • i just got this game yesterday for 5 bucks at local video game store here in FL, i couldnt believe it, i saw few times back then they had snes version but i didnt have money

cost like 35 or 50 bucks, but any way is genesis better or snes is better i would like to know

  • I don't know how good the snes version is but I read already on comments here on other videos of this game that it sucks. I own it for genesis and it is my favorite game by far for genesis. Best graphics of all my genesis games and it is the best game ever. Took forever to beat but it is easy to beat it once you get the hang of it.

  • i remember we would crank this shit up and play it all night long...its batman and robin done the right way contra style

  • anyone know where i can find an emulator with this game?

  • buy an ipod touch and jailbreak it

  • almost every beat in this game is catchy! its almost retardedly catchy! wen i was 11 i played all the songs over and over for like 2 hours. but i like the snes music better mainly cause it used music from the actual show.

  • which version is better the genesis of sega cd version

  • best game ever

  • you should try the snes version. much better...and one of the best batman games to date.

  • i love the mad hatter stage theme

  • badass

I'd say the menacing tunes are a good compliment to how HARD this game is

  • yeah this game had everything up to the max inc the difficult level,Great look this game really a showcase wish sega genesis had more games that looked as good as this.

  • the sega ver. had the best sound track

  • Music appreciation is subjective. Personally, I prefer the Jesper Kyd soundtrack.

  • The reason I liked the SNES version's music better was because it actually came from Batman TAS, but like you said it is subjective.

  • Nope hell not, same old symphonica beat this music doesnt get boring and pushed the system far more to its limit and the game is about 10000X faster. The snes version looks great and sounds great but cant touch this,on the other both games cost you more then a day to finish, the snes one friggin slow that why and the genesis one too fast but difficult as sat'n.

  • 3:04 was always my favorite. that and the hatters was creepy. thanxxx for posting!

  • Nice. This composer's come a long way, and this game's always had a nice soundtrack to me. It even served as inspiration for some tracks I made. And here I thought it went unappreciated :).
