This game sucks. I am currently playing open Beta and it's boring for the most part. Earth and Beyond had better space exploration and space combat. Don't hope for too much from this game, you will be disappointed.

there was once a stage were wow was good, back before any exp when the story line and the lore still fit, now its just off the rails and is just there to entertain idiots. we will never have another huge game like wow, the player bace will find the game that fits them and we will have a few million+ player mmos.

@rags008 I don't play WoW nor do I intend to, it never took my fancy however, just because the game has is a failure in your eyes does not mean the rest of the world shares the same view. I am pretty sure they're much more richer than you will ever be as a direct result of WoW or at the very least WoW made them a substantial amount of money.

It's cool the first 2-3 times you play it. After you play Legacy a few times it gets exposed as a boring game with no depth at all. The ultimate universe mod makes it a lot better however.

Yep it's another failure like Legacy and most Star Trek games are! This game would have been great if Perpetual Entertainment never gotten a damn stupid lawsuit and bankrupt then Cryptic Studios wouldn't have took over its development and totally changed it entirely and fucked it up and ruined it! Why BioWare (makers of Star Wars: KOTOR & Mass Effect) didn't pick this game up? They would have saved it before it gotten in the wrong hands! Thanks a lot Cryptic Studios! Damn Bastards!
@TheStarTreker , I think BioWare has their hands full fixing SOE's Royal Fuck up with Star wars galaxies, and are now making the mmo, The old republic. So hopefully they can one day fix Star trek online if it turns out as bad as everyone thinks it will be lol
I know SOE might have fucked up Star Wars Galaxies but I think they finally learned their lesson. SOE is doing a hell better job now with DC Universe Online. I played the demo of it at Comic-Con and it's awesome so far and away better than that fucked up SWG that I played and anyways WB/DC Comics are mostly in charge of the game and SOA is the developer and SOE is just the publisher. I'm sure SOE is staying out of the way.
However, DCUO won't be awesome or realistic as Bioware's SWTOR will be but it will be one of the best superhero games ever and will definitely knock City of Heroes/Villains and Champions Online including STO out of the water. DCUO and SWTOR both definitely will kick ass and probably will be the best MMOs ever to date.

They are playable, along with most of the famous races and the ones that you create. What is in debate at the moment is if you can choose to join them, or if it's just the Klingons and the Federation.
The Romulans don't look much different from the Vulcans. And since there will (supposedly) be a very high level of character customization you will more likely then not be able to create a character that appears Romulan.
the Borg would be perfect as the NPC enemy as many players being borg is kinda lame. I hope Romulans and Klingons will be different factions from the Federation. This game is gonna rule
klingons and the federation will be at war with each other, the romulans are in the game too but are not playable. at the begining you either federation of klingon empire. you wont be able to share your ship/bridge with other players. everyone stars as captain of his own ship. you can do away missions with 4 other players or npc.
Aww, that sucks! You should start out as an ensign on an NPC's ship and work your way up. And you should be able to request assignment to particular ships, with crews made up of NPCs and PCs adding up to a certain number, not just you and a bunch of NPCs. The human factor was always what made Star Trek so interesting. It'll be boring with you playing captain to a bunch of yes-men NPCs with no original thoughts or motivation. Plus the lines between the 'bad and good' sides shouldn't be so rigid.
As much as I'm happy for trekkies, and the game looks pretty well done so far. It's also a really nice concept. I hope that cryptic are more concerned with Champions Online for the time being

Because I can, I think I will point out that one of the major selling points is the high custamizability for ships and characters. I look forward to this game.
